Review & Install Video
Hey, what's going on, guys? Adam here with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I'm bringing you a quick overview of the coolant tank cover, fitting all 2015 and newer Mustangs. If you're the owner of a '15 or newer Mustang and you're looking for a way to get rid of the clear coolant tank by covering it up to blend in more with the rest of the engine bay, you might wanna check out this coolant tank cover to easily get that done.
Now, we all know when you pop the hood of that '15 or newer Mustang, it's already pretty sweet. The only thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is that clear coolant tank. Everything in the engine bay is black, the intake manifold cover, the stock airbox, everything. The only thing that's clear is that coolant tank. Now, with the Coolant Tank Cover, you can cover that up, make it all blend in, give it that black aggressive look that you wanna see when you pop the hood very simply, very easily, and very affordable. So this coolant tank was manufactured out of a molded ABS plastic for durability and heat resistance. It gives it a flat black impression to completely blend in with all the engine elements to look like it came directly from the factory in black.
Now, at the time of this video, there really isn't much option in the way of a coolant tank cover, other than the carbon fiber one, which can run you up to $200. Now that this cover is available, you can avoid paying the $200 for the carbon fiber one and pick this one up for just about $80, pretty much cutting the other price in half.
All right, guys, before we kick off the install, you're gonna wanna have a couple of hand tools on hand, like the pliers, 10-millimeter socket, and a ratchet. And I would definitely wanna point that this is something you absolutely wanna do when the engine bay has cooled off. So if you just shut the engine off, let it cool off before you get to work. All right, first thing you wanna do is remove the coolant tank cap, but be careful because it may still be under pressure.
Next, you wanna remove the two coolant hoses on the front and back and then the bolts holding it down. Keep in mind you can trash these because this kit actually does come with whole new replacement hardware. So place the coolant cover over the front stem bar and through the rear stem bar through the pre-cut hole in the actual cover and press it down. To finish things off, guys, you put the coolant tank cap back into place and push the hoses back into their respective places by pushing them through the cover into the actual coolant tank for clamping. Once you get that done, you can reinstall the supplied bolts into the mounting points and secure them down.
Overall, guys, you're looking at spending about 15 to 20 minutes on the install, making it something anybody can do in the driveway at home with a little bit of time and some common hand tools. I would definitely give this a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter.
Just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're the owner of a '15 or newer Mustang and you're looking for an inexpensive way to make the coolant tank blend in with the engine bay, you might wanna check out this coolant tank cover available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
