How to Install Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs (07-10 GT500; 11-14 GT500 Coupe) on your Ford Mustang

Installation Time

4 hours

Tools Required
  • 3/8” Ratchet (1/2” and impact gun optional)
  • 21mm deep socket
  • 18mm deep socket
  • 13mm deep socket
  • 10mm socket
  • 15mm socket
  • 8mm socket
  • 18mm wrench
  • Bungee cord
  • Jack and Jack Stands

1. Start your install by raising the front of the vehicle with a jack and jack stands and allow the front suspension to hang and remove the wheel

2. Remove the 18mm nut from the top of the front sway bar end link

3. Remove the 10mm bolt for the brake line/abs bracket on the back on the of the front strut

4. Remove the two 18mm bolts holding the strut to the spindle

5. Remove the 4 13mm nuts on top of the strut tower and hold the strut assembly as it will now drop out of the vehicle once these buts are removed

6. Remove the front strut assembly from the vehicle and use a bungee cord or similar to hold the spindle in place so you don’t put extra stress on the brake hose

7. Take your stock strut and spring assembly and position the spring compressor tool over it as shown and be sure to lubricate the threads on the spring compressor while compressing the spring

8. With the spring compressed, remove the top 21mm nut from the strut to strut mount. Remove the strut mount from assembly and decompress the spring slowly till the tool is free.

9. Install your new Eibach front spring on the strut with your stock top mount, since the Eibach spring is shorter you don’t need the spring compressor, you can simply slide the mount over the spring and start threading the 21mm nut then tighten it down fully to compress the spring

10. Install your new strut and Eibach spring assembly back into the car, you will want to slide the sway bar end link into position before bolting the strut in place, and start the bottom strut bolt as well to hold it in place

11. Tighten the top 4 strut mount bolts to 26 ft lbs

12. Tighten the sway bar end link nut to 85 ft lbs using an 18mm wrench and 8mm deep socket

13. Reinstall the 10mm bolt for the brake hose/abs harness an tighten to 11 ft lbs

14. Install the remaining bottom strut to spindle bolt and tighten to 148 ft lbs

15. Reinstall your front wheel, and then move on to the opposite front side and the removal and installation is exactly the same. Once complete with both sides, lower then vehicle and move on to the rear.

16. Raise the rear of the vehicle by the differential and use jacks under the body to let the rear suspension hang free

17. Remove both 15mm rear sway bar end link bolts and always the sway bar to hang down for access to the shock bolts.

18. Remove the 15mm rear shock bolt from each side of the vehicle, use your jack at this point to lift the differential slightly so the shock bolts slide out freely, then slowly the jack and allow the rear to droop as far down as possible

19. At this point, with the rear differential fully hanging by the control arms, the rear springs will not have any tension on them and can be pulled out easily

20. Slide your new Eibach rear springs on to the perches and slow jack up the rear differential to line up the rear shock to the mounts

21. Slide the 15mm rear shock bolt back into the mount and tighten them to 80 ft lbs

22. Swing the rear sway bar end links back into the brackets and tighten the 15mm bolts to 130 ft lbs

23. Lower the rear vehicle back down to the ground, and go for a short drive to listen for any weird noises. Enjoy your new Eibach lowering springs.
