Do these lifters come preloaded? Also, after installing these with a b303 cam, 1.7 rockers, and hardened Ford pushrods (stock length) They rock back and forth ever so slightly. Does this mean the stock pushrod length is to short for this setup?

I have a 89 lx trick flow heads Anderson cam stock lifters will these work ? Will I need to change the push rods really not wanting to pull the heads

    • The Ford Performance High Performance Hydraulic Roller Lifter Kit will work to replace your existing lifters. Push rod replacement is not required, however, we do recommend thoroughly checking the existing push rods for wear and correct length prior to reinstalling them.

I've read elsewhere that with using hydraulic lifters I'll need to use slightly shorter than stock pushrods, is this accurate for these lifters? i'm putting in edelbrock rpm heads and comp cams magnum rockers

    • Yes, hydraulic lifters will decrease valve opening events to a small degree. Therefore it is something to consider when selecting pushrods. With that said the hydraulic characteristics decrease friction and increase longevity when directly compared to flat tappet lifters. They also accept much more aggressive cam profiles than flat tappet lifters allow. It is always recommended to check your pushrod length and piston to valve clearance prior to selecting pushrods. There are many pushrod checking tools and techniques out on the market to assist you in this process. However, the hydraulic lifters will not have a drastic affect on the end result of your pushrod length.

      No more lifter knock.

I had some lifter knock in my 89 GT vert and these did the trick! Soaked them in oil for a couple days just to be safe, slid right in, no defects in their production; what more can you ask for? I highly recommend these for stock or even highly modified like mine.

Purchased when I did heads, cam, and intake

I bought these lifters when I put a Tfs stage 1 cam and a set of edelbrock performer rpm heads on my car because my factory lifters were noisy. I don't think they could handle the stiffer springs in my heads. Installed these with a set of hardened pushrods and everything works great, nice and quiet.

They're second to none in my opinion. Best bang for buck, they hold up well, plus a smidge more rpm.

      Trusted product

Compared to the other Ford Racing Hydraulic Lifters, why not pay the extra 70 bucks for the high performance, for me that was that was a necessity because if I'm going to tear down an engine. I'm going to make sure I put the right parts in it and with ford racing you cant go wrong. Overall Rating there seem very durable, haven't really seen much performance gain..yet (still on jack stands), great fitment just make sure you use lubricating oil. and yes i would say there bang for the buck.
