Review & Install Video
Some black hood accent and decal I've got here today is gonna be a great option for any S550 owner out there that's after an inexpensive and quick to install appearance decal. It's gonna help accentuate the lines on your Mustang's hood, while also complementing and playing off other blacked out bits or decals that you might have on your car. Now, the install here is going to call for an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Here, as we can see, this is going to take you about 30 minutes to an hour's worth, and I will show you how comin' up soon. So, your S550 looks great on its own, so why bother adding something like this to your car, but more specifically your hood? Well, first and foremost, guys, the lines on the S550's hood are great, and they almost mimic the raised sides of a cowl hood, but it sort get lost in the mix since the hood is all one color, right? Well, this blackout vinyl brings out the lines on your hood more and makes it that much more prominent, and more freer flowing, and aggressive looking, so, if you're after a retro race-inspired look, or you just wanna bring out the best from your hood, this is gonna be a great place to start. So, while we all love these cars, we do have a tendency to modify almost anything with wheels on it. Decals are parts that are fairly inexpensive. They install easily, as you can see, but they make a pretty large visual impact. Now additionally, I think this is a great option for the owners out there that aren't too into the idea of the single or a dual-style stripe set, or even the larger hood decal that we carry, and I think that this is a nice alternative option for someone that wants to do something that not everybody has on their car, and ultimately here, guys, we're modifying our cars to make them not look like every other Mustang on the road. Now, this is an incredibly strong material when you're comparing it to something like a thinner or calendared -styled vinyl, which will come apart or fade pretty fast. But something that I really like about this and the vinyl that we use here is that it features something that's called an air-release technology on the adhesive or the underside of the vinyl, which means that when you're working out air and moisture from under during the install process, the material isn't gonna fight ya, it's not gonna bubble up, or it's not gonna wrinkle. But in terms of the pricing here, guys, expect to be spending only around 40 bucks to get this onto your car, which isn't all that bad, considering that this is a high grade of vinyl, it's a great styling add-on that is going to set your car apart from the rest of the pack. But installation wise, like I had said a little bit earlier, you're looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here, a 30 minutes to an hour job, only needing a small water bottle and a soapy solution. So, there's really not that much all gettin' this sucker on guys, and, in my opinion, it is considerably easier than doing a pair of stripes or any other type of vinyl, because you know exactly where this is gonna be goin'.Now, you'll wanna start by taking a small amount of soap in a water bottle, mixing that together, and then liberally spraying down the side and the center of your hood where this is gonna be going. Now, you're gonna want to do that so it is gonna buy you some time getting this into place, just so you can make sure everything's gonna be lined up and plumb. So, I'll throw it out there that while it's not the largest piece of vinyl out there, it's always a great idea to have a second set of hands and eyes to get this on and into place, again, just to make sure that everything is lined up where it should be. But, once you're satisfied with where it's located, you could then begin by working the air and moisture out with the squeegee, and you're good to go.All right. So that'll wrap up my quick review and breakdown of the black hood accent decals fitting the 2015 through 2017 Mustang, that can be found right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
