Hey I’m Justin with, and I’m taking a closer look at our AmericanMuscle heat extractor style hood, fitting all 99-04 Mustangs. This functioning heat extractor hood from AmericanMuscle is modelled after the same hood found on the crazy S281 Saleen style Mustangs and it’s designed to give your New Edge that same aggressive look. Our version utilizes a thick, wave free fiberglass construction, that should make the prep work and paint that much easier. I say that because our hoods do ship unpainted, meaning you’re going to have to go to your local body shop to get it color matched to your ride, like we did with our 2000 V6 here. That is unless you have the ability to spray the hood yourself. As for the heat extraction feature, that is made possible thanks to these two functional vents, located on the front portion of the hood here. The idea for this being, whenever the car is moving, the air is going to enter the front portion of the grille, move through the engine and out these vents releasing any hot or trapped engine bay air that could otherwise hurt performance, especially on one of the cars equipped with blowers like the S281’s were. Getting the new hood installed should be a piece of cake thanks to the fact that it utilizes both the factory locations making it a simple bolt on job that should only take you about an hour start to finish. I will say it will definitely help to have an extra set of hands with you whenever you’re doing the job, because removing your factory hood and installing your new hood can be a little awkward if you try it yourself, and most importantly, you don’t want to scratch that new paint. By now you’ve probably noticed these AmericanMuscle hoods do not include holes to use with your factory squirter nozzles, just to maintain a cleaner look. If this is something you can’t live without, CDC makes a kit which actually relocates those nozzles to the wiper arms here, which solves that dilemma while still maintaining a clean look. So if you’re a big fan of the S281 Saleen and you wan to introduce a little of that functional styling on your New Edge, then be sure to check out this hood from

Saleen Inspired Styling. The SpeedForm Heat Extractor hood will add clean muscular styling inspired by the legendary S281 Saleen Mustang to your very own 1999 to 2004 Pony that will have everyone stopping and staring.

Heat Extraction. Keep your engine cool and look cool doing it with a Heat Extractor Hood. This SpeedForm hood features two openings that allow the incoming air from the grille to be vented out through the top of the hood releasing the hot air that would normally be trapped in the engine compartment.

    Quality Craftsmanship.
SpeedForm's craftsman spend countless hours on each hood to assure the highest quality wave free fiberglass construction for a perfect fit with no trimming or shaping needed, saving you time and money at the body shop.

The SpeedForm Heat Extractor Style Hood utilizes the original OEM hinges and hood latch to bolt up in the stock location on any 1999 to 2004 Mustangs for outstanding show winning styling.

Why did they make a hood so nice but make the holes open all the time. Looks good but wouldn't have one like that PERIOD.And anyone that care about water cracking hot coils and sensors would leave this hood alone. A 35 year Mechanic.

        • There's always the option of making custom duct work to channel the water to a different location. Water can be a hassle when having this hood. Though, the heat from the engine should evaporate in coming water. Unless it is severely down pouring, you should not come across may issues.

Does this hood have more clearance underside than the stock 2000 GT hood? I need about 2 inches... Especially for my camber plates.

        • The Heat Extractor Style Hood will have additional clearance but this will be toward the center, and will not increase clearance above your camber plates.

I want to upgrade my hoos but not take away from wgat it came with like the windshield sprayer nozzlea. What kit do I need to relocate my washer nozzles and where can I get them??

        • The Heat Extractor Style Hood will not come in contact or remove the windshield spray nozzles. The nozzles will stay located in the factory locations on the cowl panel between the hood and windshield.

Is it ok to drive in the rain? Since it does have the openings and rain can get into the engine, is it ok to drive in the rain? And also when you wash it is it ok if like soap gets in it?

        • unless your driving through a pond the openings will be fine the heat of the engine will evaporate any incoming water quickly and with ease

what do you do about the hood liner. 2 answers
Does this gap like the stock Termi hood? Stock Terminator hoods leave a large gap on top of the bumper towers of non-Terminator bumpers. I know the Cervini's Heat Extractor hood is longer than the stock design to fix this. Is this hood longer like the Cervini's, or is it stock length which leaves a gap above the uprights on either side of the grille? 1 answer
