More Bass. If the factory sound system in your S197 Mustang just doesn't have enough bass for your liking, then install a Kicker VSS (Vehicle Specific Solution) Powerstage Amp & Powered Subwoofer for the powerful sound you want.

Multi-Channel Amplifier with Digital Signal Processor. The brains of the Kicker VSS Powerstage System is the Digital signal processor with a built-in 4-channel amplifier module that plugs in between your Mustang's factory stereo and speakers with the help of a model specific wiring harness. The digital processor has pre-set high-pass filters, EQs, and speaker time alignments to automatically correct for the limitations of your Mustangs factory sound system for the strongest and cleanest audio possible.

10" Subwoofer. Powered by a 200-watt amplifier, this Kicker VSS Mustang SubStage Subwoofer features a powerful single 10" square subwoofer encased in a custom enclosure that mounts in the passenger side of the trunk for a clean OEM appearance.

Complete Kit. This Kicker VSS PowerStage System comes complete and includes a Subwoofer assembly (enclosure, 10" square subwoofer, amplifier), an Amplifier assembly (full range amplifier, mounting brackets) 11' Subwoofer Wiring harness, 42" Amplifier Wiring harness, 4.5' Subwoofer Power harness, 4.5' Amplifier Power harness, (1) M6 nut, (1) lock Washer, (2) 30 amp ATO blade fuse and (12) Zip ties.

Simple installation. Kicker's VSS PowerStage system is simple to install with no permanent modifications required. It simply taps into the factory wiring harness without the need for any cutting or splicing.

Application. This Kicker VSS Powerstage Amp & Powered Subwoofer is specifically designed to fit 2010 to 2011 Mustang Coupes equipped with the Factory Base Stereo System.

Great upgrade

The kicker sub is great for basic bass however it doesn't have as deep as a tone as I'd like. But I'm overall satisfied with the weight and ease of use with the subwoofer.

What is the difference between the 2010 Bass and Shaker Stereos?

Thor

  • I do apologize, I am not quite sure what you are asking. Ford did not offer any other type of subwoofer in the Mustangs besides the shaker system. If you are asking what the difference is between the Kicker VSS Powerstage Amp & Powered Subwoofer and the shaker system, then the kicker subwoofer should crank out a little more bass than the shaker system does especially being paired up with tat VSS Powerstage Amp which will help give your entire sound system a boost as well!

If I understand correctly, this system will NOT work with a factory Navigation (Shaker) system?

BA

  • The Kicker VSS Powerstage Amp & Powered Subwoofer is designed specifically for a base sound system set-up, however, with custom wiring, and a new box for the subwoofer, it could technically work.

    2nd Post

This is my second post on this item. Initially I only purchased the subwoofer and as I previously posted it allowed me to play tunes louder but didn't give the thumping bass I expected. I reached out to Kicker and they sold me the amplifier individually - same price as if I got the combo. I installed the amp and what a difference! The bass thump is there although not overwhelming it does massage the back. I added speaker upgrades in the doors and reardeck and there clearly is a distinction. If you just want "some" bump in your system this is a winner just make sure not to waste the time and buy the subwoofer alone.

    Powered subwoofer sound and installation

Powered subwoofer was a huge addition to my cars radio. The lack of output was noticeable once I installed the amp. WOW how great does my stock stereo and speakers sound now. The engineering that went into the design was incredible with the fitment of the amp and subwoofer, spot on in fitment. The instructions were excellent and easy to follow. I now cant wait to tackle my other stock speakers in the car!!! Cons - subwoofer seems to be a little under powered vs the rest of the cars speakers. With that said however, its much more than stock so overall it was a win.

Review from Kicker VSS SubStage Powered Subwoofer - Coupe (05-14 All)

    Worth it

This system runs from the right side engine bay to the trunk. Fuse hooks into battery then you fish it through the firewall. Some plastic pieces have to come off. Have the panel popper, don't screwdriver it. Kick panel. Door floor moulding, pretty straight forward. Then it runs under the backseat, and into the trunk. Easy. Mounts in the trunk easy. Sounds awesome. Hard part. Connecting into right side speaker wires. No easy way to get your head up into bottom of the dashboard to strip back sheath on the wire bundle and find the correct wires. Then to connect the in-line one-time pressure lug while folded up under the dash is a literal pain in the neck. Worth your time to look into removing passenger seat, if you aren't a contortionist or masochist.

    subwoofer for 2012

The amp does not push the speaker hard enough. I have to lower the back seat behind the driver to hear any difference in sound, otherwise it sounds just as it did before. In addition to lowering the seat, I've had to lower the treble and raise the bass all the way while boosting the volume to hear additional bass. The unit looks fantastic and mounts great ! I just wish you had put at least twice the power in it so it could be heard without all the tricks to the stereo.

Review from Kicker VSS SubStage Powered Subwoofer - Coupe (05-14 All)

Leaves a lot to be desired.

Had this system professionally installed. Snaking the wire through the engine compartment was a little beyond my forte as the right wheel well has to be pulled apart to get wiring harness into the cab - left it to the pros. The unit sits cleanly into the truck and looks great, not taking up a lot of space. The audio is definitely louder and it appears I don't get much distortion when I play at higher volume but I do not get the deep low bass I was expecting from this system. Has me wondering if I should have gotten the additional powerstage amp. If you want louder stock system this will work but if profound thumping bass is what you want look further.

    Great system

I installed this before this was added to American Muscles website from another website. I was sceptical at first because I have used bigger systems in the past but I have to say, I was shocked and still am to this day 2 years on how good this system is. Match this with the Kicker speakers and it truly is a huge upgrade to the stock systems.
