Removal of stock quad shocks:

1. Park the vehicle on a hard flat surface and engage the parking brake. If you have a manual transmission, place the shifter into first gear. Chock the front tires so that they will not move when you are jacking up the rear of the vehicle. See picture below.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on both of the rear wheels.

3. Place the floor jack under the rear differential and raise it high enough for the wheels to come off the ground. Carefully place the jack stands under the axle, one on each side of the differential. Then slowly lower the car onto the jack stands.

4. After the car is resting on the jack stands, you can then lower the floor jack to just barely touch the rear differential to use as an extra back up in case a jack stand fails. See the following two pictures.

5. Now take the back wheels & tires off and set them aside.

6. Next, spray the nuts and bolts that secure the stock quad shocks with WD-40. After letting them soak for a little while, use the 18mm socket to take the nut off the quad shock end that is facing the front of the car.

7. The nut on the quad shock end facing the back of the car is welded on and cannot be removed. You have to remove the bolt from the back side using a 15mm socket.

8. Repeat same process for both quad shocks.

Installation of KYB Quad Shocks:

1. After removing the old quad shocks, spray some WD-40 on the bolts and nuts to prevent them from rusting.

2. You can now take the new shocks out of the packaging. The shocks are under extreme pressure so I recommend leaving the plastic retainers on the shocks until you are ready to bolt them on.

3. With the plastic retainer still on, place the back end of the shock on and slide the 15mm bolt in that secures it. The back end is the bigger end of the shock; also has the KYB decal on it.

4. Once that end is secured, cut the plastic retainer so the shock tube can extend to the mounting post. When you cut the plastic, have one hand holding the shock in so it does not fly out.

5. Place both hands on the shock and connect to the mounting post. Use the stock 18mm nut and tighten down. Caution: The shock is extremely strong and you will have to be very cautious with it.

6. Repeat same process for both Quad Shocks.

7. Now, torque the nut and the bolts down tightly. Then reinstall your wheels and tires.

8. Raise the car up with the floor jack, carefully remove the jack stands and slowly lower the car.

Enjoy your new Quad Shocks!
