Review from MMD Mirrors - Unpainted (99-04 All)

        Overall Good

Very nice looking, fairly simple to put together. The top half is a cover, which will make it easy to paint once i decide on a color. Only issue is the mirrors require the motor from the stock mirrors, which in my case I do not have. (Also I emailed about possibly having them for sale, and got a prompt reply). Overall satisfied w

        Great appearance...but

Really love the way these look. Reasonably easy to install as well. The mirrors take some coaxing to seat in place but once in the seem secure. I'm not crazy on the mirror position when set to where I want it. The mirror protrudes from the housing quite a bit and upsets the fitment.

        MMD Mirrors Fitment

I have to say that these mirrors really change the look of the car. I love the look of the mirrors, but as said by others they could make the plastic a bit thicker. You have to be careful installing the motors. When installing the covers you need to make sure they are in the perfect spot. Overall all I have to say I love them.

Review from MMD Mirrors - Unpainted (99-04 All)

Great Mirrors for our 2002 V6

The OEM mirrors look like Mickey Mouse ears or Taurus mirrors; I really wanted an upgrade. The mirror set is two parts, the base and a painted cover. The paint and clear coat set I got for Torch Red (paint code D6, a.k.a., Durango Red) was $38 (TouchUp Express on Amazon), plus plastic primer for $7. The plastic is black and needed many coats before the black tone was gone. If you like to paint, go for it; otherwise I would recommend pre-painted. The mirror base arrived with a line down the front of it, flash from the injection mold line. I got another set but it had the same problem. I chose to shave it down and sand it smooth, but needed to paint the whole thing black to make it look right. Lots of extra work to make it look like the picture, but AM gave me a credit to cover the extra black paint and effort. Hopefully MMD gets their injection mold process fixed (1 start deduction from "Bang/Buck" for a quality issue). The AM staff did a great job getting my issue settled; I even visited their office. When I removed the old mirror, there was dirt underneath and pitting in the paint, so I scrubbed it clean and added clear coat to stop it from getting worse. The small Torx Screws that mount the mirror motor need a push to get started but do not require much torque, be careful. After cleaning the mirror motor, I had trouble getting the mirror to click onto it, so I added some Teflon lubricant to the tabs on the mirror and the groove on the motor and that worked well. The passenger side is harder to set. It was easier to get the mirror surface to click in place by getting the 12 o'clock groove and tabs in place first. I am really happy with the look of the new mirrors and would recommend them to anyone.

Review from MMD Mirrors - Unpainted (99-04 All)

        Looks amazing!!

Really gives the car a fresh new look. Beats the factory 'Mickey Mouse ears' that came on them from the factory. I had custom paint on the car so I went with the unpainted set so I could match the color. Changing the motor from original mirrors to the new ones is not a big deal. Adds an extra 5 minutes to the install but nothing big. The challenging part is the mirror cover. The painted part is separate from the mirror itself. So you get that cover painted to match your car color, the with the 2 sided automotive tape provided, you adhere the cover to the mirror body. You basically get one shot at doing this. Once the tape makes contact, it's pretty much on for good. So if you go this route, plan on this, take your time to put on the cover, and keep a steady hand. But well worth it!!

Amazing look for an overpriced item.

These mirrors are so sexy and sleek! Once they are on the car they blend beautifully with the body lines. Gives a little more EDGE to that New Edge style. I would definitely say that they are overpriced for not coming with hardware, but the old stuff does fit fortunately. Highly recommend that you paint match OR vinyl wrap it to match or accent, looks great! Overall you will be more than happy to look back at your car every time you get out, despite paying a little too much.

        Made Cheaply for the Price!

I would say I really like the way the mirrors look but are very cheeply made. The posts where you attach the mirror motors are very thin plastic and will snap off if your not very careful. I'm quite sure one of my posts broke off when I was trying to attache the actual glass mirror, which is very difficult to get to snap in place! Be very careful, because if you don't snap off the mounting Post you'll crack the glass. I feel the price is rather high for the quality of the product. The matched paint is of superior quality but not the plastic mirror it self.

Should have looked this way from the factory !

Love them ! Install wasn't bad at all, but make sure you got everything before you install them. I didn't receive the glass for either mirror ? So I called and they got them out to me within a couple of days ! Mirrors like this should have come on new edges to begin with ! They just look right ! not carried over from 94-98 cars !

        Mirrors are Awesome!

These mirrors really improve the styling for your Mustang. I really like them a lot over the stock mirror set. Another quality kit from AM! Thanks Tip: When separating the stock mirrors from your mirror motors, take your time and be careful. I was a bit impatient and broke one of my motors. I had to find a replacement. This was totally my fault due to my impatience. In the end... this mod is well worth the time and effort.

        Colour match selection

I really enjoy the look of these mirrors and put them in on my 2000 mustang gt it looks great only because I have a black and green theme going on with my car so I got the black . I really wish they would have put the Amazon green colour match though so I would have more of that black on green and just overall have a nicer appearance I'm sure people with the same colour as my car agree too

New Edge Look Gets An A

Completely changes the look of the car, the mirrors really look great. Adding a little color was just what the car needed, and they were pretty simple to install. Only advice, be careful with changing the studs from old mirror to new, ended up using a little epoxy to fix a broken stud mount. Great product.

        "True Blue" replacement mirror!!!

Aloha, Item is overly priced and you have to use old hardware to complete the install turning a 1 hour job into an all day afar and several trips to the parts store and salvage yard. For the price paid item should be complete including hardware needed to make the install.

        Great Look! Questionable durability

Definitely adds to the "New Edge" look of my 04 Mustang by getting rid of these rounded stock mirrors and adding some hard, sleek edged mirrors. My car is silver and over 11 years old with well maintained paint and the prepainted part matches very well. Easy installation with no modifications of parts or motors. You use all the factory bolts, nuts and wires so it is seamless. The hardest part is making sure the mirror sits all the way in on the grooved rim of the motor mount without pushing too hard and snapping the clips or cracking the mirror. As long as you keep your hand at max surface contact and no one single point, it won't break. The durability is questionable because of the angle of my passenger side mirror makes the mirror stick out about an inch more than the casing which is not the same on the stock mirrors (or the drivers side). Very happy so far.

        Looks Great!

The install was kind of a pain to swap the motors from your old ones to the new housings. (Note: if you try to install new Aftermarket motors the new supplied mirror glass will NOT fit on aftermarket motors, I learned this) Paint match is exact but when you stick the painted covers on the housings go slow because once the double sided tape sticks it's on for good. You don't need to remove the entire door panel just the insert with the power buttons which is a plus. Take your time and it will be well worth it, much better looking than the flat black stock mirrors and the design flows well with the New edge lines. Overall they look Awesome!
