Bushings are used to isolate and decrease road stress, noise, and vibration. When a vehicle is in motion, the suspension system's axial and radial movement, combined with the extra heat generated by the vehicle, causes the bushings to twist and strain. These forces can cause hardening, cracking, and even breaking of the material. This typical wear might be accelerated by severe road conditions or old or malfunctioning shock absorbers, reducing the life of the bushings even further. Worn bushings can cause surrounding components to shift locations, resulting in excessive noise in passenger cabins.
