So in order to hold 1st and 2nd . I would have to do the aod "shuffle" correct ?

        • The Performance Automatic Hold Valve Body will require you to have the the gear selector in your chosen gear to hold that gear. We recommend pairing this with a ratchet shifter to allow easy control of the gear you are currently in/holding. This will not require the "AOD Shuffle" to hold 1st or 2nd.

Please help me understand EXACTLY how this works. I have a 91 Foxbody GT AOD, stock. The console shifter from bottom to top reads, 1, D, OD, N, R, P. So, with this valve body, it would hold 1 until I shift it from 1 to D - which would be 2nd gear; then, it would hold 2nd until I shift it from D to OD, which would be 3rd gear? Would it then shift into overdrive automatically, or what? Thank you...

        • The Performance Automatic Hold Valve Body will operate normally in "D" or Drive, but when manually selecting 1, or 2, will hold in 1st or 2nd gear until you move to the next gear. With 1 or 2 selected, this will not shift, and will stay in the selected gear unless you change to another gear, or select drive, where the transmission will act normal.

Ok, so I have a AOD in my mustang the shifter goes 1,D and OD the problem that I have is when I go from 1 to D manually it wants to skip 2, well this fix that? I already have a stage 2 shift kit in it.

        • The Performance Automatic Hold Valve Body simply holds gears longer so that you get a firmer shift. It will not fix the transmission skipping gears.

Could i use the B M Hammer shifter with this valve body and still get the same effect or is it specifically for the stock auto shifter?

        • The Performance Automatic Hold Valve Body will work with the B&M Hammer Console Ratchet Shifter, item # 24308, (

What's the difference between a shift kit and the auto hold valve body. Do I need both to get the performance

        • The Performance Automatic Hold Valve Body is designed to "hold" 1st and 2nd gear RPMs when manually shifted without fluttering. A Shift Kit will hold gears longer for a more firm shift.

I purchased part number 24308 and 62720 for my 87 Mustang. My problem is the shift lever positioning--it is hitting the long tube collector flange where my long tube headers are under the car. The transmission pan has a lip that will not allow the car to shift past reverse. I need to know If I need to order a Selector Shaft Arm or if I can I simply flip the flip the lever and it will operate? 1 answer
If I were to leave the shifter in 3rd would it automatically shift up to 3rd gear if driving normally? Or does this turn the transmission into a manual shift only? Thanks 1 answer
