    Review & Install Video

Hey, I'm Justin with And I'm checking out a can't miss retro mod for the front end of your 2010 through 2012 GT. Thanks to Modern Billets, upper and lower billet grilles available in your choice of either black or polished. As you might have guessed from the name, Modern Billet is a company that specializes in designing and producing a wide variety of styling and accessories for your Mustang using nothing but 100% aircraft grade billet aluminum. Now this upper grille draws its inspiration from the legendary 1966 Shelby GT 350. Now some people may argue that this car kicked off the billet grille trend that would later find its way onto everything from passenger cars to pickup trucks, is now more popular than ever on today's rides. In addition, that modern billet upper grille also deletes the signature GT fog lights and the factory running pony emblem, making for a real clean look when installed. The lower grille, which we are also featuring in this video, filled the void nicely on the lower portion of the factory bumper, and really makes for a dramatic look when paired with that upper grill. Now even though we do have the upper and lower grille paired up for this video, they are available separately. So for instance, if you just wanted to go with that retro-themed upper grille and leave the lower portion stock, you totally could. However if you dig the look of both grilles working together for you, like we have installed in our GT behind me, then you'll actually save yourself a few bucks in the process if you purchase both at the same time. As for the install, well, the method will differ slightly depending on which grille you're installing. For instance, the lower grille is an overlay, meaning it's designed to install easily over the lower portion of your factory grille. On the other hand, that upper grille will require a little bit more work simply because you have to remove the factory grille first and then install the new billet piece in reverse order. Now even though there is a little bit more work involved, you should be able to get each grille installed in about 30 minutes apiece, from start to finish. Now if you really want to nail that early Shelby look then you should put some of that money you saved from the combo deal towards one of these Tri-Bar pony emblems. Set it off to the side, and you'll have the same look Shelby used back in '65 and '66. So if you want to give your late model S197 a look shared by some of the early Shelby Mustangs, then be sure to check out some of these grille options from Modern Billet, available right here at

Styling Lower Grille. The 8 bar Lower Billet grille is a perfect match to a Billet Upper Grille to complete the appearance of your Mustang. The Lower Grille is an overlay design that attaches over the factory lower grille.

Quality Construction. Designed with the original OEM CAD data from Ford to ensure a perfect fit, both the Upper and Lower grilles are constructed from strong lightweight billet aluminum that is completed in a brilliant polished finish for a classic appearance and corrosion resistance.

Application. These Modern Billet Polished Retro Billet Lower Grille is designed to fit the 2010-2012 GT Mustang. Does

    not fit California Special Edition.

GT/CS I am looking for an upper n lower grill, crome billet, that will fit the 2011 GT/CS.

        • This Modern Billet Polished Retro Billet Grille (10-12 GT) will not fit the California special models. You will need to purchase an entire grille assembly for your bumper in order to modify it with a billet grille.

Will these fit the V6 models?

        • No, this grille is made for the GT as it has a different front bumper and grille frame than the V6. See the attached link below for the same grille made to fit your Mustang!

Will these also work on a 2013 GT?

        • Unfortunately not. The 2013s have some slight changes to the front end causing the 10-12 style to not fit correctly. We should have some 2013 grilles available in the near future. Keep an eye out!

Review from Modern Billet Polished Retro Mustang Billet Grille Combo Kit (10-12 GT)

            Nice look

I submitted the picture of the 2011 silver GT in the garage. The grille looks great. The instructions sent with the product are in 2nd grade Chineseglish and are completely worthless. The pdf file found on the AM website is equally useless because it gives a false impression that the removal of the stock grille is easy. Removing the stock grille is a freaking nightmare. Ford believes they can assemble everything with hidden black tabs. A person who removes a stock grille for the first time needs to be told that the grille insert comes out of the FRONT of the surround. Also, when removing the grille surround from the car you will almost certainly break the bottom two of the four side tabs that hold it in, requiring you to innovate in order to get it back in securely. A clear picture of the tabs, with perspective, in the pdf file would help a great deal. I would have taken a picture and submitted it, but of course, I broke mine. Gorilla glue, my friends. HOWEVER...the billet grille is awesome and mounts into the stock grille surround very easily. Be sure to mount the bottom grille overlay before re-installing the dust cover. Also, do purchase the bottom grille overlay. The billet grille looks way better with both. I tried the top grille by itself first and it just looks wrong.

Review from Modern Billet Polished Retro Mustang Upper Billet Grille (10-12 GT)

            Great Grille!

This grille is a HUGE improvement over the factory grille. I had wanted this from the beginning. Install wasn't too bad and instructions are good enough that you only have to have some technical abilities. Fitment is pretty good - the bottom bar isn't completely flat and if you really look you can tell that it slightly bows up in a couple spots but unless you really look you would probably never notice. I have had it on since spring 2012 and haven't really noticed any major issues since then. I would definitley recommend buying the pony tri-bar to go with this grille. It is the perfect finishing touch.

Review from Modern Billet Polished Retro Mustang Upper Billet Grille (10-12 GT)

            Awesome grill

Instead of going black out on my black 5.0, I decided to use chrome with the black and this worked perfectly. The chrome finish is really nice and it gives the front a really clean look. Installation is very straight forward and it took about an hour. The only problem I had was the screws that came with it rusted really fast. But it is really worth its price.

            Gave it a retro look

The grille overlays are a nice way to change the look of the front fascia on a budget. Installation was really simple.

            looks awesome!

Instructions do not help at all. Getting the original grille out of the grille shell was way harder than I expected and I ultimately had to cut some of the tabs off to get the job done. But the new grille looks awesome and I have had many compliments.

            eww and ahh

First off directions dont help much. For the upper had to put it in the original grille snap ins for best fit but it leaves the fog light cut outs as a big gap. I suggest masking off the bumper before removing the stock grille to avoid scratches which is pretty impossible when installing the new grille into the surround. Lower was pretty simple with the radiator cover off to acess the mounts but it seems like it could easily fly out so i zip tie reinforced it. After install it looks really nice though i wouldnt recomend for a beginning modder.
