Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my review of these black projector headlights for 1994 to '98 GT and V6 Mustangs. These headlights are going to be a good option for those guys out there that are looking to give their SN95 a very modern look with a set of one-piece, dual LED halo headlights. Headlights can have a big impact on the looks of a car, and I would say that these totally transform the SN95. You get the best of both worlds here since you have a black housing for stealthy style, but clear lenses so you can see even better at night. These are one-piece headlights that have black housings, clear lenses, and LED halos with accent lighting, so there's a lot going on here. This isn't just a plain upgraded headlight. This is a headlight that has the works when it comes to after-market headlight options. There's nothing else to add to these besides a side of fries, but I would say that these headlights definitely have a stealthy look to them and the black housing is to thank for that. The black housings give the LED accent lighting and the halo something to really stand out against, both during the day and at night. What's nice about these headlights though, is they have that clear lens, which means that you won't have any trouble seeing at night. You're actually going to have increased visibility at night since these are projector-style lights. And thanks to the LED lighting that these have, the projector lenses have a bright focused beam of light, and this is a different style of light than the standard halogen. And like I mentioned earlier, these headlights have dual halos that are LED-lit, and they have some LED accent lighting as well. The LED accent lighting consists of three LEDs that sit right here along the top of the headlights and they give the headlights and the car a very different look at night when they're lit. These headlights are DOT-approved and so they're legal for street use, and these are going to come with a set of H3 high and low-beam bulbs. Another thing that's going to make these headlights look different and like an upgrade over the factory headlights is the fact that these are one piece. All headlights are one piece anymore, and these make the SN95 look like it should have come from factory with a one-piece. They look much better than a three-piece light on these cars, at least in my opinion. As far as price, these headlights are what I'm going to call fully loaded and as such, they are going to be on the more expensive side of all the headlight offerings on the site. They are not the most expensive option, but they do cost just over $150. If that's a little bit expensive for you, there are some options on the site that are less expensive. When it comes to the install, you can expect to spend about an hour and I'm going to call this a one out of three wrenches on the scale, even though there is some wiring. But the headlights do come with some quick splice connectors to help you out with this part. You're going to need some basic hand and wiring tools to get this done, but nothing out of the ordinary. There isn't a whole lot to do to get headlights into an SN95, just some tabs and some bolts to undo, so it doesn't get much easier. Once the old headlights are out, you can install the new lights and wire them in. And keep in mind that you might have to aim these after the install if you want the best view at night, but the adjustment process isn't difficult. Wrapping this up, these black projector headlights have dual LED halos and LED accent lighting as well. They are a projector-style, one-piece headlight with black housing for stealthy look, and they can add a little style by themselves, or they can help to complete a whole smoked package. You can check these out more online for yourself and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

This is a good product; and works good; but I gave it only 4 stars; because one of the led's doesn't light. I have called support5 about this yet; but I need to do that. Over all I really like them.

Is there a trick for installing them. I cant seem to get them to slid in right.

JoshuaW

  • When installing the Axial Black Projector Headlights you may need to adjust the clips on the adjuster/retainers in order to get everything to slide together. Additionally a small amount of lubricant like brake grease or WD40 can be used to assist in the clips sliding in place.

What bulbs or kit do I need to put hid lights in?

Brayden

  • The Axial Black Projector Headlights were not designed to be used with HID's, so we would not be able to confirm which HID kits would fit and function properly.

    Led halo projector headlights

I'm overall satisfied they definitely give your mustan a mean and modern look, just have to adjust a thing or two tomorrow. People are saying they don't fit good, make sure the two bolts with white plastic on them are on the right headlights, the plastic retainer things that are supposed to snap into place when you put the headlights on just take those off and use a nut and washer to keep them in, it works way better than the cheap plastic. For the wiring if anyone is having trouble twist the white wires together and the black together, get some crimp connectors put them on the twisted wire then get two red and two black wires, put crimp connectors on those, red to white, black to black, when splicing to your parking lights brown goes with red, black to black.

    Do not buy

These headlights are awful the weathering comes off in less then a day you can't get LED lights for the center of the halo and the fitment is worse then a fat guy with skinny jeans.. save your money. I took this off in less then 3 days rather have yellow fogged up lights then these that have no weathering and doesn't fit smooth.

    sleek look, bad design

love the headlights and how they look on my car, however, the low beams are just that... too low! I am not able to adjust the bulbs or the headlights themselves up any higher so I can comfortably see at night. On the flip side, I have gotten a lot of compliments on my headlights. They definitely bring the car out of the 90's and into the modern era!

    Not too bad

These are great headlights. The only flaw was that they do not give you instructions about how to hook up the LED's. there is a small sheet for LED's but i doesn't cover barely anything. That is what took so long. You also have to purchase pieces to hook up the LED's which I feel should have been included. Other than that, they work great and are very bright.

    Black Projector Headlights

Love the lights - but the instructions were sketchy at best. Wrong nut size for side marker removal. There was no differentiation for mounting bolts 1 and 2. Black and white pictures were worthless. I had to grind out he plastic headlight box to make room for the side marker light socket. The weather stripping came off during installation and didn't match up to the fender. Tried filling in the gap but so far it doesn't look great.

    They don't fit...

It will take an afternoon just to modify the housing where the old headlights were mounted just to get these new headlights in far enough to mount. I am disappointed in American Muscle for saying these would fit my car and take an hour to install.

    Poor fit

Headlamp would not fit to the fender. The adjusters would pull off the back of the headlamp when trying to adjust them. The rubber gasket just fell off.

    Great look bad fit

To many small details to go into. The major issue is that it is almost impossible to get the side marker bulbs in. Once in it sits so far out looks bad. At least only one led was out. I love the look wished they fit

    Had Potential

These have to be the worst aftermarket headlights I have ever installed. The directions were god awful, you will find your self saying "well w.t.f, how did they get to that step without doing this?" They will say "See fig2 for clip removal" but will just show you a picture just the headlight itself with no actual clip in the picture or arrow pointing to it. They have almost no adjustment what so ever and just kind of flop around in the factory holders. As a person who has worked in the automotive collision repair business for over ten years I can say that these are no doubt the worst P.O.S aftermarket headlights I have ever had to install. The instructions offer almost no help other than to tell you to "Pop out the old headlight and snap the new one in" sounds easy but it isn't since you still have to assemble part of the light when you receive it. The wiring is awful and you will have to find a new way to rout the wires for the LED's because god forbid they wire all the LED's together and place them inside the housing and just leave you 1 positive and 1 negative wire to hook up, oh no they leave you with four exposed wires that you get to hid with exposed capacitors that are marked as fragile. The 'foam" around the outside of the headlight that is suppose to keep water out was almost completely ripped off when it arrived which is no surprise since there is more adhesive on a scratch-n-sniff sticker than what was actually holding them on, I fixed that issue with some super glue. The finished look is the only reason why i give this product 2 stars, it actually looks OK from about 20 feet away. Then you start to notice things, like the rear gaps on both sides dont line up, the foam look like it was stolen off of an AC line, the gap on the top of the fender to the light is about an inch. It feels like this could have been a really good product if only they had actually put a little care into making it. Had it been made a little bit better they could have charged an extra 100 bucks and people like me would have loved it. All in all it took about 2.5 hrs and I was able to use basic hand tools to complete the job. I will be returning them and most likely be going with a better quality light like a raxiom, I have installed many of those before without much of an issue at all. I am mostly disappointed that American Muscle would even sell this light, It belongs on a Camaro, not a Mustang.

    Looks good!

Massive improvement from the old stock headlights, only downfalls are the weather stripping is kind of oddly placed and splicing into any kind of wires for a solid connection is always sketchy.

    Look great, but don't work

Took forever to install, don't fit right, and they don't work. They are bright and look good on my 95, but the lights don't work. The high beams work fine. They all worked when installed. The next night only one light worked, and the high beams work on both, few nights later no lights and only high beams. Will attempt to return and get something different or refund. Not pleased especially for the price.

Looks great but has some issues

I'm very satisfied with the appearance of these headlights but I have a little bit of an issue... They are put in snugly but for some reason there appears to be an upside down staircase pattern shadow in front of the light so I'm only able to see a couple feet in front of me (which is not good for driving).

    Dual LED Halo headlights

These lights are great and shine on the road brighter than anything I've ever had. Plus, they look great day and night! The down side is that they are a little difficult to install and there is wiring that has to be done. Overall, great source of light but need some work.
