Review & Install Video

What's going on, guys? Adam here with AmericanMuscle.com. Today, I'm bringing you my quick overview of the Raxiom Hood Vent Mounted Turn Signal Indicators fitting all '15-'16 GT Mustangs. If you are an S550 owner out there and you appreciate the iconic styling of the '67-'68 Hood Mounted Turn Signal Indicators, as well as the S550 California specials, then the Raxiom Turn Signal Indicators I have here may be for you. The Hood Vent Turn Signal Indicators that I have here from Raxiom are made to be fully functional. They will work on your turn signals, hazard lights, and when you're unlocking and locking your door. This option from Raxiom is offered in a smoked amber LED to give a bright illumination, as well as an aggressive look. Now, if you're looking for different colors, there are other color options on the site, so you can check those out for a customization for your ride. These LED housings are made to fit specifically into the hood vent on a factory '15-'16 GT with heat extractor vents. So if you're rocking an aftermarket Heat Extractor, such as one from Roush, then you may need to check out the other options on the site. Because there are other companies that make them to specifically fit with other aftermarket hood vents. I really do like this Raxiom kit because is a very simple plug and play option that mounts using existing hardware right into the hood vents you already have. Some of the other options on the market may not be an exactly plug and play kit, might not man up as easily, and might require a little bit of splicing to make them work. Also, the Raxiom comes with a free two-year warranty that other options on the site do not. The pricing for this is gonna be pretty straight forward. The Raxiom kit I have here comes in at around $150, whereas the other options you might find on the site will be about $20 less. Now, keep in mind that this does come with a free two-year warranty, so for 20 extra bucks, you get peace of mine plus a plug and play option. The installation of the Raxiom kit, like I said, is gonna be completely plug and play, so it is pretty straight forward. It may require you to trim down the notches on the vent just to make these fit in there properly. With that said, you wanna have a good socket set on hand, as well as flat head screw driver and may even a cutting tool to get that trimming done. To kick the installation off, you'll have to start by popping the hood and dropping the top portion of the hood insulator to gain access to the hood vents that are held on by plastic clips. Once you get those off, you'll be able to put the housing of the Raxiom lights in place. With that said, you might have to do some trimming to vent housing just to make those fit in, but once it does, you can use the provided nuts to tighten them down. At this point, you can start to reinstall the hood vents and pass the wire through the opening, but you wanna be careful that that doesn't get pinched. With that said, you wanna make sure that you put the mounting nut and the wiring cable back in the place before you finish up. Now, in order to run the Raxiom Harness, you'll have to gain access to the turn signal first, which you can do by pulling back the fender liner in the wheel well. Once you do, plug the Raxiom into the Turn Signal Harness and then into the Turn Signal itself. Once you do that, fish the wire up to the back of the head light to the fender, run it across the firewall, and zip tie it to the hood hinge. To finish things off, you run the harness behind the hood liner and connect it to the hood vent mounted turn signals. You wanna make sure to secure any extra wiring with the provided zip ties. From start to finish, you'll be looking to spending about an hour for the install here, and I definitely give it a one out of three wrenches on the Difficulty meter because it is a pretty plug and play. Just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're '15-'16 GT owner out there and you're a fan of the iconic '67 or '68 Mustang styling, as well as the new California Special Hood styling, then the Amber Raxiom Hood Vent Mounted Turn Signal Lights might be for you, and you can get yours right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Great Idea To Make An Impression

The product is a great quality. Good lighting and is not to bright that it messes up the driver when the turn signal is on. Overall great impression and a for sure head turner.

I have bought the Cervini Ram air hood for my 2017 Mustang gt will the Raxiom system work with this hood or do i have to go with something else?? if so what would that be

Candyman

  • Unfortunately since the Cervini's Ram air hood changed the location of the vent mounted turn signal indicators, they would no longer be applicable with the Ram hood. As of right now, we do not have any turn signal kit that would work in correlation with the location of the vents on the Ram air hood.

So as I read this, it covers up the whole opening, isn't that an issue then with heat? I assume they added these heat vent for a reason? ...also need to sit in the car and see if I see the vents because if not, it wouldn't be as much fun! :)

goSpeedgo

  • The Hood vents are not a necessity, they do help extract some heat but it will not make a big difference if they are covered up. Ford also offers the turn signal lights inside the vents as an option from the factory just for some reassurance.

Am I correct in observing that this kit blocks the hood vent openings entirely thus rendering the hood vents non functional?

zBill32

  • The Raxiom Hood Vent Mounted Turn Signal Indicators - Amber - Plug-and-Play (15-17 GT) will take up the whole space of the hood vent in order to illuminate the entire vent area.

    Not like the factory lights

My 2016 GT had similar lights installed from the factory. I thought it was one of the coolest aspects of the car. After the 2016 was totaled I purchased these to retrofit into a new to me 2015 GT. One of the other reviewers commented that you cannot see them from inside the car... he is spot on. These are not even remotely like the ones that came on the 2016. You can't see them from inside the car.. and they aren't very bright outside the car. Rather than uninstall these I'm going to figure out a way to add to them with some additional led strips.

review of hood vent mounted turn signal

I paid $100.00 to have this installed by my mechanic I have used for years. After the installation in my 2013 Mustang GT/CS I and the mechanic noted the lights only are visible from the outside of the car. No matter how high you sit in the car you cannot see the hood mounted directional signals. I noted another reviewer made the same observation on this site and his review and the previous review I wrote for this product have disappeared and two new reviews for 2015 Mustangs are the only ones now up for the public to see as comments for this product. I request AM do an install on this product on 2005 -2014 Mustangs as was originally advertised and publish your findings. I am a customer of many years and trust you will step up and do the right thing for your customers.

Nice addition to my GT; looks great

Nice product and reasonable installation. I was nostalgic for my old '67 that had the hood turn signals, so I decided to purchase these for my '15 GT 50 years AE. I chose the Raxiom product based on the warranty and their quality. After installation they look great against the Wimbledon White. From the driver's seat I can barely see the right light due to the ridge on the hood. Install took about 3 hours mostly because I took my time and didn't want to goon anything up. I'll post some pictures and the instructions. For Step 1, I used an 11/32 ratchet. I used a screwdriver to push against the clips to remove the vents. Don't sweat the notches for the studs too much; I used a dremel and once the turn signal went down and in, it fits nicely in place. I used a 5/16 box end to secure the provided nuts. The rest went as advertised in the instructions to snake and connect the plug and play harness. The hardest parts for me (although not that difficult) were the removal of the vents from the hood, cutting the notches, and connecting the harness on the right side inside the fender since I'm right handed.

I have a yellow gt and had the vents painted black and these installed. It looks and works great just not very visible from inside.

    hood turn signals

They looked the way I wanted; but I have $500 into that look. Reminds me of 67 Mustangs with the hood turn signals; as that is why I got them.
