Hey, guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. And today, we're taking a quick look at and installing the Raxiom LED Projector Headlights with the Black Housing and Clear Lens, available for the '15 to '17 Mustang and the '18 and newer GT350s and GT500s. You should be checking out these headlights if you're looking to ditch the factory very traditional S550 or early S550 design in favor for one that's got additional DRLs for daytime running lights and an upgrade to an LED technology. Overall, these headlights are going to be far and away brighter than your factory headlights. They're going to last a lot longer in terms of the bulb quality. You're going from the factory very circular round projector-style to a very squared-off option. You're getting the more angular tri-bar LED accents, something you see from the '18 and newer Mustangs. You're also getting the swooped led DRL that's going to go right around the top here toward your marker light on the side. So, that's something we see with a lot of other aftermarket headlights. So, you're sort of morphing the '18 and newer style with some of the more aftermarket daytime running lights into one headlight for, in my opinion, one of the more better-looking options at the front end. It's not going to give you a smoked headlight. You're getting a black interior with a clear lens giving you the impression of a smoked headlight without hindering any light output. This is going to look at first glance, somewhat factory or OEM, but once the lights come on, you get really bright, vibrant, attractive white daytime running lights that are a little bit different than factory. In terms of quality, expect all OEM quality. The LEDs are rated for up to 100,000 hours of continuous use and the price tag for both the driver and passenger side as a pair comes in right around the $700 mark. It's about on par with what we expect from aftermarket headlights. You can save a couple of bucks if you're looking at some of the other options in the category, but Raxiom is delivering some really high-quality stuff here with a plug and play finish. And that, in my opinion, is one of the bigger bonuses. You're upgrading to a more modern technology and a longer-lasting technology, but you don't have to cut and splice any wiring. This is going to plug right into the factory harness. The install, I'm going to give two out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here. It's something that you are going to have to take the front bumper off for, and that's just something that goes along with headlights on the S550s. I'm going to walk you through every step of that process. It'll take you about an hour or two from start to finish with very simple hand tools. What do you we get started? Tools using the install include an impact gun, extension, ratchet, 7, 8, and 10-millimeter deep sockets, Phillips head socket or Phillips head screwdriver, and a panel removal tool. First step for the uninstall, pop your hood, we got to get our top radiator shroud out of the way. There are these black pushpin clips all along, grab a panel removal tool, and get these guys off. All right. So, now, we can just lift up on the radiator shroud and set it aside. At the top of the bumper underneath of the shroud, there is a bunch of 8-millimeter bolts. Grab your 8 socket and get these guys off. All right. Now, we're looking in the fender well. There's a couple of those black pushpin clips, the same ones we did under the hood. There's one at the bottom right next to the tire, one up top a little bit, and then one indented in. Let's get those out of the way. All right. And this next one's going to be tough to see. It's inside this little indent here. So, you might have to peek your head in and grab that out. It's right here. Just like that. There we go.All right. So, next, what you're going to do is peel back this fender liner to reveal a bolt holding the bumper here to the fender. Now, the bolt is facing upward with the bolt head up at the top here, so you're basically going to grab a 7-millimeter deep socket or short socket, head in there, and just get that guy off. Now, this is going to be really tough to see, but if you just grab your socket and head right about here, you should be able to get it off. All right. Once you break it loose, you can usually get it off by hand. Just like that. It's just a small 7-millimeter bolt. With that off, the bumper disconnects. Repeat this exact process on the other side. With the car up in the air now, we can remove our belly pan or splash shield. If your car does have one, there are 7-millimeter bolts going all the way across the front, there are a couple in the middle, and then 4 at the back. Depending on your model, you may have 7 millimeters or 8 millimeters. It can vary a little bit in terms of size of bolt, but either way, get all these guys off and we're going to drop the splash shield. So, now, we have 2 in the middle and then 4 at the back. Now, let's pull the belly pan out in one's piece. So, now what we're going to do is peel this bumper back just enough to get our hand in there to disconnect our fog light and our turn signal marker. You're basically just going to put your hand right in between and just pinch and disconnect these bulb sockets. There's three of them. All right. With those disconnected, repeat that on the other side, and we can pull our bumper off. There's 2 more hidden screws. If you lift up here on this little weatherstripping, there's a Phillips head. So, grab a socket, a Phillips head socket or a Phillips head screwdriver and get those off. Same thing on the other side. So, now, we can lift up from the middle here, just making that we're pulling it off of those retainer tabs, lift the bumper off, and set it aside. All right. So, we're looking at our driver's side headlight. We have three bolts we got to get off. One up top, one on the bottom inner corner, and one on the outer corner here on the actual paint-matched color here. So, what I'm going to do is grab a 10-millimeter and an extension and get these guys off. Pull the headlight straight back, disconnect to the factory harness, and set it aside. So, we got the driver side headlight off of our '15 GT behind me, and it's on the table next to our Raxiom LED Projector. So, let's go through some similarities and differences here. In terms of similarities, you can expect all OEM quality of materials fit and finish. The design of the inside is slightly different and the technology is a big upgrade. Now, your factory light, as you know, has that projector styling on the inside, which is more of a circular lens. The new option from Raxiom is a little bit more squared-off to go with the more angular theme of this headlight style. Now, right off the bat, you can see that this headlight style mimics that of the '18 and newer Mustangs. It has the angular tri-bar accent LEDs. It's also got that interior black housing that's a little bit more smooth. This guy here from the '15 to '17 has what looks to be a little bit more of a textured matte black on the inside. Not a huge difference, but it is a difference nonetheless. Now, inside of that projector beam compared to the factory one, this is going to be a really bright LED that works in conjunction with your high and low beams all built into one LED. It's going to be more of a fixated beam to give you better visibility at nighttime than your factory one, which I will say off the factory line did have a pretty good amount of brightness. An LED upgrade, however, is not only going to be a lot brighter, but it's also going to last a lot longer. Another big, big difference here aside from the projector-style lens with the squared-off finish and the angular LED accents, you're also going to get a DRL or a daytime running light bar. Now, we all know that the factory lights had those tri-bar DRLs or daytime running lights. This is going to add to that with the bottom light that goes all the way around. Now, we see that in some of the other aftermarket headlights in the category, but those other aftermarket options don't have the tri-bars. So, this is going to take basically the best of both designs and smash them into one headlight, which is my opinion makes this one of the better headlights in the category. Black interior housing and the clear polycarbonate lens that this guy has is going to give you the impression of a smoked headlight, just like your factory one without actually impeding on any light output. I will say the LEDs are so bright that even if it was smoked or tinted, it would shine right through without a problem. Another nice thing about this is that it has all the LEDs built-in, you don't have to transfer over anything from the factory light, and it's plug and play. There's no additional wiring harnesses on the back, just the bulb socket, like your factory one. So, you're just gonna plug in that factory connector and not have to worry about anything else. So, plug and play is a huge bonus with this kit.At this point, I want to head back into the vehicle, install this on our driver side, and then we can repeat for the other side. All right. So, now, we're sitting on our driver side, grab your harness, plug it right into the back. You want to make sure you're pushing it all the way down to hear that click. Once it clicks in, let's seat our headlight back into position. It's going to use all of the same factory mounting holes. Line that guy up. There's a retaining pin up at the top too to help you line it up. Grab those factory 10 millimeters and start putting them back through. Okay. Once you have that seated, grab your 10-millimeter socket and tighten them down. All right. Of course, from here, you can repeat this exact same process on the other side and put stuff back together. So, now, we can start putting our bumper back on. You just want to be careful not to scratch the sides of the fender as you do so. Drop it right back onto the knobs, right underneath of that radiator shroud section. Before we connect the bumper to our fenders, remember to reach through and plug in those fog lights. Same thing on the other side. Where the bumper meets the fender, you're just going to pull this guy straight up, and push it in. Let's start bolting things down under the hood here. So, peel back that weatherstripping to put back that small Phillips head screw, tighten it down. Same thing on the other side. Grab your 8-millimeter bolts, put them back through. Just remember not to go too hard if you're using an impact, put it on its lowest setting, and just be careful not to crack your plastic there.Put your radiator shroud back in place, grab those pushpin clips, and put them back through. Back in the wheel well, we can put that 7-millimeter bolt back through where it connects the fender to the bumper. Again, this one's pretty difficult to see. You're just gonna squeeze your hand back and again, it's right here. You can usually seat that bolt all the way through to the bottom by hand, and then just give it a turn or two to tighten it down. Tuck that wheel well liner back in, put the 3 pushpins back, and repeat on the other side. Repeat that on the other side. Now, we can put it up in the air for the splash shield. Now, we can put our splash shield back up. This can be a little challenging. You want to try to tuck in the front first and then line it up. I'm going to try to put the two in the middle on first. This should hopefully help us hold it into position. All right. Once you get that lined up and that can be a pretty tricky part, I'm going to put these two in the middle on just to help hold this guy in place. Now, we can start making our way around with the factory 7 millimeters. Now, we'll just have a couple in the back. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the Raxiom LED Projector Headlights with the Black Housing and Clear Lens, available for the '15 to '17 Mustang and the '18 and newer GT350s and GT500s. Either way, get yours right here at americanmuscle.com.
