Hey, guys. Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with the Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System for 2015 and up GT, Ecoboost, and V6 Mustangs. The Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System's gonna be a good option for anyone looking to delete the factory prop rod and clean up the engine bay. These have black, e-coated finishes, so they'll look nice on any car, and they're a simple product that makes a big difference under the hood. These are gonna create a cleaner appearance overall and they have much nicer look than the factory prop rod does. These are gonna be a good mod for those of you that show your car and that need that clean look but they're also a good mod for those of you out there that work under the hood a lot. I have a set of hood struts in my fox body and it's much easier to work under the hood when there isn't a hood prop in the way. So not only do these look good, they also have some good use as well. Redline offers two sets of Quicklift systems and they do have different prices. The difference is gonna be in the finish. So these ones are e-coated black and the other ones, the Elite System, have a stainless steel finish. They have the same features, just a little bit of a different look. So speaking of features, the hood struts are valved gas springs that have a progressive release system, so your hood isn't gonna just fly up or down. They have a controlled lift and the struts do slow as they get to the top of the lift to make things more progressive. And the mounting brackets are stainless steel. As far as price, you can expect to spend about $100 for this kit, and if you'd like to spring for the Elite kit, that's about $30 more. This is a complete kit, so you get the two struts, the fender brackets with the red inserts, the hood brackets, a plastic drill guide, and the drill bit as well to make things easier for you. So I mentioned drilling. Yes, you will need a drill for the install, but it's still a straight-forward install. These install using pre-existing holes in the top of the fenders and on the underside of the stock hood, so you don't have to drill into metal. You will need to drill a small hole in the plastic battery cover, but you do get a template and the drill bit, so it's not too bad. You can expect to spend an hour on the install and I'm going to call this a solid one on the difficulty meter. You do have to drill, but it's nothing big, and you are drilling into plastic, so really anyone can handle it. You need a 13 millimeter deep socket, an electric drill, and a center punch for the install and that's about it. You start by removing the top hinge bolt on the passenger side of the car so you can pull the bracket over the upper hinge bolt and then move to the left side of the car. The bracket installs the same way on this side. Next you'll need to position the plastic guide to mark the center of the hole for the battery cover with the punch that you have or you could just use the template to drill. If you follow the book, once the hole is marked, you're ready for drilling. It would be safest to take the battery cover off to drill, but we left it on and completed the install just fine. After that, you can install the fender brackets and then the hood struts. They just snap into place with the hood spring housing side facing the hood and the extension side on the fender. Wrapping things up here, the Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System offers two gas hood struts to replace the factory hood prop. The kit comes complete with everything that you'll need for the install, which is very easy and simple with no modifications required except for a small hole in the battery cover. You can check this kit out more online right here, at AmericanMuscle.com.

Deletes Factory Prop Rod. With all the bells and whistles that Ford equipped on their S550 Mustangs, it's hard to believe that they still use a prop rod to hold up the hood. But now you can ditch that old school prop rod and add a clean appearance and modern convenience to your 2015-2017 Pony by installing a RedLine Tuning QuickLIFT ELITE Hood System.

Slow Release System. RedLine Tuning QuickLIFT ELITE Hood Struts use powerful custom-valved gas springs that feature a progressive release system. In the final few inches of operation the struts slow the rate of extension allowing for a smooth, fluid lifting process. This prevents your Mustangs Hood from snapping into place, which reduces wear and tear on the hood and its hinges.

High Quality Construction. The QuickLIFT ELITE system features two progressive-rate gas struts that are manufactured from Marine grade 316L stainless steel for superior strength and dependability. The included mounting brackets, with ball-stud end fittings, were CAD designed for a perfect fit. The mounting brackets are then completed in a black powder coated finish for long lasting corrosion resistance.

Straight Forward Installation. The QuickLIFT ELITE System installs utilizing pre-existing holes in the top of the fenders and on the underside of the stock hood, so no drilling into metal is required. However, you will need to drill a hole into the plastic battery cover to access one of the holes on the fender. A template and a stepped drill bit is included for your convenience.

5-Year Limited Warranty. To ensure the highest quality of their materials and craftsmanship, RedLine Tuning backs their QuickLIFT ELITE Hood Struts with a 5 Year Limited Warranty. Some exclusions may apply, please see manufacturer's warranty for details.

Application. This RedLine Tuning Hood QuickLIFT ELITE System is designed to fit 2015-2017 Mustangs, including the V6, EcoBoost and GT models. Does not fit Shelby GT350's.

Application Note. These RedLine Tuning Hood Struts are for use with US Spec Hoods only. They are not compatible for use on Non-US Spec Hoods.

Is this suitable for the models outside of the US that have the active hood safety feature? I noticed on some other US sites they say that some hood struts are not suitable for these overseas models of the s550 so wondering how I can be sure? I really like these in the polished metal appearance if these are not suitable what else would you recommend?

Igz

  • Unfortunately, these specific hood struts can only be used with USA spec hoods and would not work accurately for an overseas S550. We do not, at this time, carry a hood strut applicable to the overseas S550 mustangs.

Can this kit be used on a Euro spec S550?

AnsarM

  • As long as the Euro spec S550's use the same hood attachment points as the US spec Mustangs, this hood strut kit will work.

    Struttin' my Stang

I just installed the Red Line Tuning Quick Lift struts on my '15 Mustang GT. They look great and I no longer have that prop rod in the way. They are made with quality materials and it took me maybe 30-40 min. to install them by myself. That was part of the reason I went with this brand the other I looked at, both Hinge nuts removed to install which meant you needed another pair of hands with this set you only had to remove one of the upper hinge nuts to install the bracket for the top of the strut.

    Hood struts

I looked at several styles of hood struts for my car and chose these because of their streamlined design. I'm glad I chose this option because they fit great and were simple to install. The instructions were crystal clear and everything needed for the job was included. The gaps on my hood/fenders were slightly off from the factory which also had the stripes not quite aligned right. Once I put these on though everything lined up perfectly! Great product and a great place to buy from, thanks American Muscle!

    Super Smooth Lift

These are great. Should be your first purchase. Easy install following good instructions. Pay attention to the part about loosening the bottom hood bolt if the hood bracket won't square up. Took 20 minutes at most. Lifts smoothly and slows at top of lift. Pull it easily down and last 10" it will drop shut nicely. Stainless strut looks good. Unbolted the prop rod.

    A must have upgrade

The system is great quality and works great and I only wish I did it on my previous mustang. Its pretty easy to install with one exception and that's why I gave it 4 instead of 5. The predrilled hole for the windshield washer cable plug on the passengers side bracket didn't align. It was off at least 1/2 inch so I needed to drill the hole out to make it bigger.

    A little disappointed

The bracket that mounts on the passenger side needed a little bit of metal filed off to make it fit properly. Also, it is obvious that people have over torqued some of the mounting bolts causing them to break off. The instructions should have addressed the torque issue and provided a torque spec for installation.

    2015 GT Redline Hood Lift

Installed the drivers side with no problems. Removed and modified the battery cover with the provided step drill which drilled a 3/4 inch hole. The hole was not big enough and I had to drill it out to 1inch. The instructions say to cut a slit from the edge of the battery cover to the hole in order to ease the removal of the cover. If this is not done the strut would have to be unclipped from the hold down bracket to remove the cover. I don't think this is an issue and had I thought it through I wouldn't have made the cut, preserving a cleaner appearance. Overall very satisfied. Hood rises smoothly and is higher than with the "stick".

    Great product

Received the product quickly and installation was a snap until I tried to close the hood. The pistons were the wrong size. Thankfully I tried closing the hood slowing or I would have damaged the hood. Red line exchanged the cylinders and let me keep the installation brackets, so 2 days later all was well. Great looking product and great customer service. Just a couple days inconvenience was time questing whether I had installed wrong.

    Excellent!

I can't believe Ford didn't go with struts in the first place, but whatever, these look great and are super easy to install. I was a little worried about the weight of my hood with the added scoop but it's no problem at all and the hood lifts and stays up just fine.
