Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here checking out these OE-style replacement clutches for a few different generations of Mustangs, including '79 to '85 5.0 liters, '86 to mid '01 GTs, '93 to '98 Cobras, and '94 to '04 V6s. If you're shopping around for a replacement clutch because it's time to replace your current clutch, and you're not looking to upgrade, or you're trying to find a budget friendly option, then this clutch is perfect for you. It's ideal for those daily drivers out there that can even have some minor bolt-on mods but that are trying to stay away from the feel of an aftermarket or race application clutch. This clutch will offer the grip you're looking for without sacrificing the quality of the driving experience. There are many things to consider when you're shopping for a clutch, like the feel you're looking for, the durability of the clutch, and how much power your current or near future setup is making or will make. Since this is an OE-style replacement clutch, this clutch is ideal for stock or lightly moded 'stangs. The clutch is an organic disc clutch which means that the disc is made of a material that's similar to the OEM clutch. Organic discs are known for smooth engagement, long life, and a low brake in period as well as a broad operating temperature. The clutch is going to come complete with a disc, obviously, the pressure plate, a throwout bearing, a pilot bearing, and even an alignment tool. Now, this is a three wrench install, meaning that it's more difficult and requires some knowledge. You always have the option of taking it to a professional to get the job done. If you're looking for a replacement clutch for your T5 or T45 equipped Mustang, and you're just looking for a nice replacement that's not going to totally kill your budget, then you should check out these OE-style replacement clutches available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Perfect Replacement. When it's time to replace that old worn out clutch in your daily driven V6 Mustang, an SR Performance OE-Style Replacement Clutch Kit is an affordable replacement that will fit your budget and your driving style.

Ideal for Daily Driving. If your V6 Mustang sees daily driving duty and has some minor bolt-on mods like a cold air intake or a tuner, then this SR Performance OE-Style Replacement Clutch will give you the additional holding power you need without the "on-off" feel of aftermarket race application clutches. Get the grip you want without sacrificing the quality of your driving experience.

Premium Quality. Designed to offer the durability of an upgraded performance clutch while maintaining the great street drivability of a stock unit, this SR Performance OE-Style Replacement Clutch features an organic compound disc for smooth engagement and spring center dampers to reduce drive train shock.

Application. This SR Performance OE-Style Replacement Clutch is designed for use with the 1994-2004 V6 Mustangs equipped with the T-5 or T-45 manual 10-spline transmission.

Ask a Question

Do you have to break it in? If so how many miles and what kind of driving?

Nicholas

  • Yes, clutch break in is required for any clutch installed on a vehicle, it is recommended to perform normal driving for 300-500 miles, no burnouts, hard launches, or heavy driving would be recommended to do until after this period.

do i need to buy the adjuster kit with it also?

VincentT

  • You will not need to purchase the clutch adjuster kit, however it is recommended for anyone who is going to change their clutch and flywheel.

What flywheel on AM should I use with this on my 2000 V6?

Namenick

  • You are able to use any of the 6-Bolt flywheels for V6 model Mustangs that we carry on our site in unison with this clutch. My recommendation would be to mate the Spec billet steel flywheel item #60008.

What is the highest horsepower at the wheels this clutch can withstand safely?

Ben

  • Under the "Tech Specs" tab, it says it's N/A for HP/TQ ratings, so it must not be rating. It's also not SFI approved. My best guess is probably somewhere in the realm of 245/250 ft-lbs of torque, but take it with a grain of salt.

    Mustang clutch kit

Product fit great. Works well, especially compared to an old clutch with 130k miles on it. Old pilot bearing was a pain to get out but new kit very easy to install. Just finished installing and can feel a difference but I'm still in the break in period so can't comment on grip but I imagine this is closer to like the car was new.

    Clutch

I hate installing clutches on my back under a car, but this clutch job went extremely well. Everything fit well and didn't give me fits. Very happy.

    CHECK THE THROWOUT BEARING

So overall I was pleased with the quality of the kit, I have not gotten around to getting it out on the road since the install due to lack of time. I am disappointed with the throwout bearing that was in the package. Not only was the bore on the bearing not centered, but there was little grease in the bearing and it made a grinding sound so I had to go to the autoparts store and pick up a new National throwout bearing for $30 (because I am not dealing with a noisy bearing again). I will give an update when I get on the road but if you get this check the bearing before installing

    Didn't Fit?

I bought this for my 1995 V6 and the bronze colored plate hit the flywheel before the disk could even make contact. I sent it back in hopes that they just sent me the wrong one but the second one they sent me was the exact same way.
