SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

CAREFULLY READ THE IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS and WARNINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION!

Appropriate disassembly, assembly methods and procedures are essential to ensure the personal safety of the individual performing the kit installation. Improper installation due to the failure to correctly follow these instructions could cause personal injury or death. Read each step of the installation manual carefully before starting the installation.

• Always wear safety glasses for eye protection.
• Place ignition switch in the OFF position.
• Always apply the parking brake when working on a vehicle.
• Block the front and rear tire surface to prevent unexpected vehicle movement.
• If working with a lift, always consult vehicle manual for correct lifting specifications.
• Operate the engine only in well-ventilated areas to avoid exposure to carbon monoxide.
• Do not smoke or use flammable items near or around the fuel system. • Use chemicals and cleaners in well-ventilated areas.
• Batteries produce explosive gases, which can cause personal injury. Therefore, do not allow flames, sparks or flammable substances to come near the battery.
• Keeps hands and any other objects away from the radiator fan blades.
• Keep yourself and your clothing away from moving parts when the engine is running.
• Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry that can get caught in rotating parts or scratch surface finishes.
• Allow the engine, cooling system, brakes and exhaust to cool before working on a vehicle.

WORK SAFELY!

Perform this installation on a good clean level surface for maximum safety and with the engine turned off

Original Shift Ball Removal

1. Grip the original shift ball tightly and turn counterclockwise to unscrew the ball from the threads of the shift lever. If necessary, use the mat to improve grip on the shift ball and prevent your hands from slipping.

2. Inspect the threads on the shift-lever for debris and remove any if found. Clean the oils off the threads using Brake Cleaner or equivalent cleaning agent and allow the agent to dry/ evaporate.

Roush Shift Ball Installation

1. Apply blue threadlocker to the shift lever.

2. Screw the Roush shift ball onto the shift lever. Exercise caution when lining up the threads on the shift ball to the shift lever as they can easily be cross threaded if mis-aligned. Turn the ball clockwise to secure the ball.

CAUTION: Do not over tighten! Damage to the shift ball may occur if over tightened.

3. Screw the shift ball down until the bottom of the ball sits lower than the top of the positive lockout, and then continue to turn clockwise until the shift pattern on the top of the ball rests in the desired position.

4. Make sure that there is enough clearance to fully lift the reverse-lockout feature on the shifter. Do this by lifting the lockout and shifting into reverse. If you cannot shift into reverse smoothly, back the ball out by turning it counterclockwise until there is enough clearance for the reverse lockout to function properly. Once in its final position, allow the threadlocker on the threads to cure overnight without disturbance.

Congratulations!!! You have completed the installation of the ROUSH Performance Products, 2015 Ford Mustang shift ball.
