Review & Install Video

Hey, Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com, taking a closer look at the RTR front chin spoiler and splitter fitting all 2010 and 2012 Mustang GTs. As a big fan of Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Ready to Rock drift Mustang, I’m excited to be checking out these appearance parts from the RTR package, starting with this chin spoiler and splitter combo. Taking a closer look at what we have here you can see we have three different parts which make up the complete package. We have the actual chin spoiler itself, the lower splitter portion, and finally these race inspired splitter support bars. Both the chin spoiler and the splitter are made from rugged, injection molded urethane, and feature this grain like texture which just gives everything a little more character. Finally, the entire package is really brought together, thanks to the addition of these splitter support bars, that as you can see, really give the front end of the car a race car inspired look. As for the install, we’re going to call this one 2 hours from start to finish just to be safe, the install itself is not all that hard but it does include a lot of steps, such as relocating your factory horns. The detailed instructions will lay all this out for you very clearly, a little tip before you get started, you can install this splitter with the car still on the ground, but I will say getting the front of the car up in the air a little bit will give you much more room to work. So if you’re like me, and you really dig what Vaughn Gittin Jr. has done with his signature Mustang, then add some of that RTR flavor to your ride starting with this chin spoiler combo available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Ready To Rock! This is the same exact chin spoiler that is included as original equipment on the Included as original equipment on the Ford Mustang RTR designed and developed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. The RTR chin spoiler features a modern aggressive race inspired splitter assembly, making it the perfect addition to your modern muscle car.

Rugged Construction. Made of rugged high pressure, black injection molded urethane this RTR chin spoiler features a grain texture to increase longevity against rock impacts from daily driving and is a perfect match to the existing factory rocker panels.

Application. This RTR Chin Spoiler with splitter is a direct fit appearance upgrade for the 2010 to 2012 GT Mustangs. Does not fit V6 models.

Shipping Note: This product can not be shipped to an APO/FPO, Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska, the US Virgin Islands or Canada addresses.

5 Top Rated Questions

How many inches of ground clearance will I have after installation compared to stock.

  • The ride height is not going to change much with this spoiler. They way it mounts it appears to sit a lot lower than your factory chin spoiler, but will actually only hang down about 1/8" further than the factory.

Can the support rods be placed wider apart, or are they fixed in place?

  • The RTR Front Chin Spoiler with Splitter will have the holes pre-drilled for the supports. These could be moved, however this will require drilling new holes, and will leave the existing holes wide open.

Would this fit a 2011 v6?

  • No, the RTR Front Chin Spoiler w/ Splitter is designed to be compatible with the 2010 - 2012 GT Mustangs only.

    Great chin spoiler

The chin spoiler is great. Really easy to install, but make sure to follow the instructions. Do NOT leave the struts off! I lost my splitter on a highway on ramp once due to not installing the 2 struts. It’s def easier to do if lifted and front wheels are off the car. It’s a little pricey at $500, but quality is really good. Looks awesome on the car. 2012 Mustang GT-RTR #056.

    Rtr splitter w/ adjustable rods

Was very simple to install but you must take the bumper off your car when doing so trying to put it on with bumper will be very time consuming so it took me and my brother an took less than an 1hr easy install and looks FANTASTIC not a bad purchase for the price

Great Fit and really sets it off!

I took a little bit of a different approach to the standard. I painted the lower lip grabber orange and left the chin the black plastic, and it looks great!

    Looks amazing!!

The product (although it's a bit pricey) looks fantastic! The only issue I have is that I had to purchase new support braces because one of the supports was stripped when I received it. Other than that... I really like the look.

    Awesome Front Lip

The RTR front lip is a great addition to your 2010 to 2012 Mustang GT. Installation was a breeze and the fit is pretty good with minor gaps where the lip meets the bumper, but its know biggy. The only downfall of this product is the price. At the end of the day people plastic should not cost $500, and being in Canada by the time it shipped and reached my house it was just under $1000.

Needed a splitter but got the whole thing!

My original splitter suffered a small crack after a '0 mph' nudge of a small deer. RTR doesn't offer the splitter only so I had to fork out for the spoiler and splitter. Oh, well. AM has this for a decent price and the new splitter looks fantastic (as did the original). Instructions are clear, illustrated with photos, and easy to follow. Thanks, AM.

    2011 Mustang GT install

Instructions were lacking enough detail , vague .Final appearance makes up for it . Gives the car a race car ,oval track appearance , suttle , yet formidable .Surface after painting does show minor structural bleed through flaws on a black paint job that I chose . People compliment and take pictures . Overall satisfied , a little pricey .

    Looks and Fits Great

This kit comes in four pieces; the lower valence, the splitter, and the two splitter support rods. It also comes with plastic body pin rivets to attach the splitter to the chin. At first I thought they wouldn't hold, but after over a hundred passes down the quarter mile trapping over 120 mph and reaching speeds as high as 160 mph, they have held extremely well with no issues. The only tools you need are a Phillips Head screw driver to tighten the rivets and the screws in the wheel well, and an allen wrench to tighten the splitter support rods. The rest just snaps into place on the front end. It is held around the outside by sturdy 3M body tape. I recommend cleaning where they will stick with alcohol wipes to ensure it sticks well. As a bonus, at higher speeds it actually feels more planted in the front end. For not being a true race car splitter, it does its job well. Highly recommend.

Finishes the front profile of the 2012 GT

Nice combination spoiler\splitter for the 2012 GT. I fussed trying to find the right style and appearance in the spoilers that were available...a plain splitter was not really what I liked. My son and I installed this in 1.5hrs with everything going together as billed. The instructions were not clear on this but definitely assemble and tighten the top two splitter support rods before putting the assembly on the car. Not reachable after the install. This RTR Chin Spoiler finishes the look of the front end of my car

    Awesome addition

What a difference! Installed the RTR chin spoiler/splitter in a little less than two hours and changed the whole look of the car. Looked at every other option out there, spoke with some other gears heads, went on some forums and decided on this front end. More than happy with my decision and the final result after install. Highly recommend this product.

    Great appearance, AMAZING FIT

I started out taking photos so I could write an install guide. The included instructions were very straightforward and quite precise. The removal of the stock part was simple and the entire install took an hour and a half. The new park popped in and snugged up with all hardware lining back up (which is a rarity). I will be submitting a photo of the install when the sun come up!!!

    Don't drive thru big puddles

First off, I've had the chin spoiler on my car for a few months now. I love the look of it on my 1" lowered 2012 GT. I've gotten lot's of compliments on the spoiler and it really stands out! I've been careful going over bumps and dips. The spoiler has scraped lightly a few times but no bid deal, Panama City is basically flat... We've had a lot of rain and yesterday it rainer hard! I encountered a puddle about 6-8" deep at about 20-25 mph and all the sudden the splitter was pulled off the spoiler and jammed under the car. An hour later when the rain stopped and my wife brought me some jacks from the shop, I got the splitter out from under the car... Splitter and hardware appear unsalvageable... Not sure what to do next but anyone with this set up should be careful about driving thru water because it can and will rip the splitter off the bottom of the spoiler... Luckily, the spoiler and car were undamaged!

    Bringing that Something Special ingredient

This really toughened up the look of the front end, and added that intangible element that truly means muscle car. The chin spoiler by itself was nice, but the addition of the splitter with push rods enhanced the whole thing incredibly.
