The front end of the S550 Mustang redefined the American pony car and updated its classic, signature look for the 21st century. While the 2015+ front fascia is excellent example of the Mustang’s world-class design, it is still a modifiable part that you can customize with the help of the aftermarket to give your Mustang a personal touch. This guide will go over what you need to know when you want to give your 2015+ Mustang a new look in the front.

What Does the Front Fascia Consist Of?

The front end of a Mustang is made up of a few different parts that include:

  • The chin spoiler
  • The upper grille
  • The lower grille
  • The front bumper/front-most body piece

You can either replace the entire front fascia of your S550 Mustang with a complete aftermarket kit that includes everything listed above or you can replace some of the individual parts. Replacing the whole front fascia will run you at least $900 while you can buy some of the individual pieces for around $200 and up, stitching together a totally unique look.

Are EcoBoost, V6, GT, GT350 Front Ends Interchangeable?

The EcoBoost, V6, GT, and GT350 Mustangs all have slightly different front end design cues than the rest, allowing enthusiasts to easily identify what kind of Mustang is rolling down the road. While the aftermarket has a variety of options to choose from for each model, a question a lot of enthusiasts ask is if the front fascias and front end parts are interchangeable amongst the different sub-models?

The answer can be somewhat vague: kind of. With the exception of the GT350, the overwhelming majority of front fascia kits and components can be shared amongst all of the sub-models. Some of the dimensions and factory components on the GT350  make it unable to borrow parts/share compatible parts with other sub-models.

The GT350 aside, if you have an EcoBoost Mustang you can transform it to have a GT look or you can swap a GT’s front end with an EcoBoost’s to give it a sleeper, low-key look.

Are there Any Performance Benefits to Upgrading the Fascia?

When you upgrade the front fascia of your S550 you are not just modifying the looks. You can also modify the performance. A majority of the front fascia kits and grilles available improve the aerodynamics of your Mustang, allowing it to cut through the air with less resistance and sometime with slightly more down force.

In addition to aerodynamic benefits, more often than not some of the designs also improve airflow over the radiator and increase cooling performance. Due to some of the more free flowing designs, more air is allowed to enter the engine bay of your Mustang and cool things down.

The biggest benefit from swapping out the front fascia/front end components is going to be the visual boost it gives your 2015 Mustang. Adding that custom touch to your pony is often the needed bump in your visual appearance to turn more heads and win awards at car shows.
