Drill holes through the hood? Why not?
The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was that these hood pins are quite a bit beefier than the pictures give them credit for, that was a big plus. The sinking feeling you get when you start to drill holes through the hood of a Shelby on the other hand is a bit less thrilling. The install could definitely be done in an hour or less, but only by someone who had done this once or twice before; the online instructions suggested using grease to mark the contact point of the pins then drill it from the bottom, then drill from the top down to match. In hind sight their are certainly better and cleaner ways to go about it. My recommendation is to use the grease to mark all three layers of the hood from the bottom then drill them one at a time, this would ensure a better alignment and less of a screeching metal on metal noise. Also do your best not to drop the bolt from the pin in front of your radiator, the bolt is barely magnetic and you will need to remove the splitter to get it out. Despite the embarrassingly difficult installation, the end result was undeniably a beautiful looking addition to my car.
