Premium Quality. Since the flywheel is such a critical part of your Mustang's drivetrain, selecting a flywheel that will perform well and is made to the highest standards for safety is an important choice. SPEC's billet steel flywheels are machined to a .001 tolerance (other brands are only made to .01) and designed and weighted for the perfect balance and surface to complement your new clutch.

Protects Your Investment. When replacing your clutch you have two options: resurfacing your flywheel, or getting a new flywheel. Most times, getting a new flywheel is better than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

Rebuildable. A cheaper flywheel won't stay that way - SPEC's steel flywheels have a replaceable steel friction plate which makes this flywheel rebuildable. And this flywheel surface is also made from a special type of steel specifically designed to help your new clutch "bed in" properly and to promote superior grip - so this might just be the last flywheel you ever have to buy.

SFI Certified. If you're using this flywheel in high performance or racing applications, SFI Certification is critical so you can run your Pony at the track or strip. And it's great for peace of mind even in a daily driver - at higher RPMs, stock cast flywheels have been known to explode.

Application. This Spec Flywheel is designed for 1994 to 2004 Mustang V6's.

How do you know if your engine is externally or internally balanced? I'm getting this for my 01 3.8L along with a stage 1 spec clutch kit. After reading about the counter balance, how do i know if i should leave it on or take it off?

      • 94-98 engines need the weight. 99-04 engines do NOT need the weight so in your case take the weight off.

I have a 99 3.8L Mustang, will I need to take the weight off of this flywheel?

      • This will fit the 94-04 Mustang V6 models without any modifications needed.

I just installed this in a 2000 v6 with a new OEM clutch. The clutch will not engage, or seames as it is engaged already. Meaning if I start the car in gear with out taking my foot off the clutch pedal the tires start spinning. Is the size of this flywheel extend farther from the engine than the OME, is the Speck clutch thinner than the OME clutch. I bought this because it saves it will work with an OME clutch.

My flywheel came with these Allen key looking bolts on it and I dont know what they are there 6 of them do I keep them on it take them off

So just plain and simple.. I have a 2000 mustang with external harmonic balancer, so I would need a flywheel with weight?

      • All 2000 Mustangs, both with internally and externally balanced engines will have a harmonic dampener. To determine if your engine was an early 2000 external balanced engine, or a late 2000 internal balanced engine, the easiest way is to look at the dampener. Externally balanced engines will have a section that is "raised" and then dips down to act as a counterweight for engine balancing. Internal balanced engines will have no such counter weight and will only act to absorb vibrations, and not play an active roll in balancing the engine. The Spec Billet Steel Flywheel will use the included weight for external balance engines, and will not use the weight for internal balance engines.

          Great Product!

Love this new clutch setup. They flywheel is tons better than the stock! just be sure to remove the counter weight if you have an internally balanced engine or it will vibrate like crazy...found that out the hard way!!

          Spec flywheel

A couple months ago my throwout bearing went bad so I decided to replace the whole clutch and flywheel. I didn't think there was going to be much of a difference. I was completely wrong. After I installed my spec stage 1 clutch and flywheel I quickly noticed the difference in shifting. it's like day and night. . I would certainly suggest this product to any stang owner.

          Great product, great price!

I paired this flywheel with the Spec Stage 1 Clutch. Much smother, better acceleration and power. Definitely recommend. Minus the clutch replacement and pilot bearing ordeal, this shouldn't take more than an afternoon to do with prior experience and knowledge.

          SPEC Flywheel

I installed this flywheel with the SPEC stage1 clutch. Everything has operated flawlessly for many thousands of miles so far. What I noticed with this flywheel is when you depress the clutch from high or low RPM's, it keeps the engine idle RPM's even and smooth for a transition to downshifting or braking.

          Not bad

Have not had any problems with the Flywheel. Had the Spec Stage 1 clutch and Spec Flywheel installed at the same time and could tell the diffrence right away. Have to wait 500 miles before I can "get on it" so I havent been able to "really" know.

          in combination...

purchased this along with the Spec stage 1 clutch kit, a major difference over the stock parts. acceleration and shifting feel smoother, and theres not that same lurch in the clutch that there was before.

          Know your engine

There is a little counterbalance weight on the flywheel. Depending whether you have an internal or external balance in your engine you will need to discard or use this weight. I had an internal balance and kept it on, and it vibrated like crazy!! Once it was removed...smooth as silk!
