Step 1: ​Safety first! Before you begin the installation, make sure that the vehicle is in park with the parking brake set. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and verify all components listed are present.


Step 2: ​Unplug the wires from the mass air flow sensor (MAFS) and intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.


Step 3: ​Loosen the two hose clamps on the stock intake tube.


Step 3 (continued): ​Disconnect the two hoses from the stock intake (as shown) and remove the stock intake.


Step 4: ​Remove the 8mm bolt and remove the stock air filter box assembly.


Step 5: ​Remove the 4 bolts retaining the MAFS to the air box assembly. Remove the MAFS. Carefully remove the screen assembly as it will not be reused.


Step 6: ​Assemble the air filter funnel and bracket to the MAFS using the included gasket and bolts as shown. Do not over tighten bolts.




Step 7: ​Install the 3.5” coupler to the MAFS and secure with the included clamp. Install a second clamp, but do not tighten.


Step 8: ​Install the 3.5” – 3” coupler to the throttle body using the included clamp. Install a 3.5” hose clamp on the large side of the coupler, but do not tighten.


Step 9: ​Install the Spectre intake tube as shown. Do not fully tighten clamp at this time.


Step 10: ​Install the two hose pieces to the intake and stock tubes. Secure with the included clamps.


Step 11: ​If your vehicle has an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor, install the supplied large grommet into the intake tube. If not, use the smaller grommet and plug to block off the hole in the aluminum tube and skip to step 14.


Step 12: ​Remove the IAT from the stock intake tube.


Step 13: ​Install IAT in the grommet installed in step 11. Be careful not to push the grommet through the hole.


Step 14: ​Loosen, but do not remove the nut shown below.


Step 15: ​Install the MAFS assembly onto the intake tube. The slots on the bracket align with the stud and threaded boss on the cylinder head. Use the supplied bolt and the factory nut to secure the assembly as shown.


Step 16: ​Reconnect the wires to the MAFS and the IAT sensor.


Step 17: ​Install the Spectre air filter on the funnel and secure with the supplied clamp.


Step 18: Fully tighten all clamps and mounting hardware. Reconnect the battery cable. Start vehicle and let warm up. Inspect all components to ensure they are installed correctly before driving your Mustang. Affix carb E.O. sticker in a prominent place under the hood. Enjoy!
