Hey everyone, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com and I'm going to be taking a closer look at the SR Performance 75mm Throttle Body, available for your '86-'93 5-liter Mustang. SR Performance is a name that every Mustang owner should be aware of by now, thanks in part to their wide selection of performance and suspension components that won't break the bank.
The SR Performance 75mm Throttle Body is a great bolt-on for the 5-liters that are heavily modified or that have forced induction, and it pairs great with an aftermarket intake and EGR spacer. On the other hand, if you have a lightly modified or even stock 5-liter Fox Body, then I would recommend going with SR Performance's 70mm option instead. And this is because in order to justify the use of the 75mm throttle body, you really need to be pushing a lot of air and if you aren't pushing enough to justify the use of the 75mm, then you're just going to end up hurting performance instead of helping it. And if you aren't sure which option to go with, you can always reach out to a Mustang expert and they'd be more than happy to talk with you about your setup and guide you in the right direction.
Taking a closer look at the throttle body, you'll see that it's made from a 356-grade cast aluminum, which gives it a smooth, almost polished type of finish. The throttle body does not require a tune, but we do recommend running one with it, just to make sure that you get the most out of your mods, especially if you're going to be pairing this with an aftermarket intake manifold setup and EGR spacer. Included in the box you'll find all the necessary hardware and gaskets needed to get the throttle body installed. The install itself is really straightforward and should only take you about an hour. You will need to transfer over your stock TPS, or throttle position sensor, and your idle air control valve to your new SR Performance Throttle Body, but that's only about two bolts and two screws. So that's also really straightforward. After that, all you have to do is attach your throttle cable, and you should be good to go.

Technical Note. The 1989 to 1993 5.0 Mustangs must run both a throttle body and EGR Plate with all stock connections functional to maintain street legal.
What type of mods would be enough to need to run a 75mm throttle body?
We typically recommend the SR Performance CAI & 75mm Throttle Body for cars which are more heavily modified, with mods such as heads, cam, and intake manifold to take advantage of the larger 75mm throttle body. For a car with a stock intake manifold, we would recommend the 70mm throttle body.
Is there any way that this can be used on an 88 model? Can speed density car be converted to mass air?
SR Performance CAI & 75mm Throttle Body w/ EGR Spacer can only be used on a 89-93 Mustang. A speed density car can be converted to mass air. Some companies make full kits to complete this conversion, unfortunately we do not carry any.
excellent product best bang for your buck. You can do it right in your driveway with simple tool and it takes less than an hour. I noticed a power gain immediately I recommend this produckt to anyone looking to open up thein pony and let it breath.

Very easy to install used very little tools and no specialty tools. From start to finish under two hours. Notice a huge difference right away the cars response is crisp and didn't break the bank to upgrade great bang for your buck definitely recommend
This Combo kit is worth the money. Does a nice job on cleaning up the looks of your engine bay. The performance is noticeable. And now with the larger 75mm throttle body& spacer I can later on install forced induction and have the volume for that. I had to cut the rubber connecter in half on the pipe headed into the throttle body for the sharp turn it makes. But still worked good
I'm average if not a little above mechanically, and as such I expected this to be easier than it really was. First of all, the fit and finish on the CAI kit was barely acceptable. The throttle body and EGR spacer were fine, and apart from the time you need to loosen the nuts off the intake studs their install went rather quickly. The CAI came with no guide, and even thug it looks straight forward enough in the picture I had a bear of a time getting it to line up just right in order to look and fit well. Also, don't be fooled by the photo, it does not come with a new MAF housing, you either need to clean and polish your existing one, or if you do get the 75mm body I would recommend an entirely new MAF sensor and housing (like the one from BBK) in order to get everything adjusted correctly. Performance gain was noticeable but not impressive, tone was certainly throatier, but I can hear a slight whine almost like a vacuum leak coming from the open space where the filter plate bolts to the fender wall. Just my honest take folks….
Bought this a couple weeks ago. Put it on in a gas station parking lot with some friends. Super easy to put on. Was pretty impressed with performance gain. Gas milage suffered though. All in all it was a good start for my mustang build.
