How to Install CGS Motorsports Stainless Cat-Back Exhaust - Single Side Exit on your Mustang

Installation Time

2 hours

Tools Required
  • 1/2in drive ratchet
  • 3in extension
  • 13mm deep socket
  • 14mm socket
  • lithium grease

1. Remove two 13mm exhaust bolts from exhaust flange. 


2.  Slide the factory exhaust to the rear of the vehicle to remove exhaust hangers from mounts. 

3. Slide the factory exhaust to the front of the vehicle to remove the exhaust from underneath vehicle. 


*Note: You will need to rotate the original exhaust multiple times to clear the rear axel. 


4. Take the resonator delete pipe with flange and spray the hanger brackets lightly with the lithium grease.  

5. Slide the resonator delete pipe into hanger mounts and align the two flanges. 

6. Install the bolts from front to back and tighten by hand.


7. Take the muffler and install on the resonator delete pipe. Muffler will slide approximately 2 – 3 inches into the pipe.


8. Use the over the axel pipe and spray the hanger brackets lightly with the lithium grease.  

9. Slide the hanger brackets into the hanger mounts and align the pipe and muffler. Muffler will slide approximately 2 – 3 inches into the pipe


10. The last pipe is not the easiest to install. The work around is to loosen the hanger mount from the vehicle.


11. Using the lithium grease slide hanger bracket into hanger mount and into the pipe that goes over the axel.

12. Tighten the hanger mount back to the vehicle.

13. Install a U-bolt clamp approximately 1-2 inches from the forward inlet of the muffler. Tighten nuts by hand; do not tighten all the way down.


14. Install a U-bolt clamp approximately 1-2 inches from the rear outlet of the muffler. Tighten nuts by hand; do not tighten all the way down.


15. Install a U-bolt clamp over the last pipe joint. Tighten nuts by hand; do not tighten all the way down. 

16. Starting with the resonator delete pipe and flange start tightening the bolts using the 13mm socket working toward the rear of the vehicle.

17. Install the exhaust tip using a 15 mm socket.

18. Recommend checking and retightening after 100 miles.
