    Review & Installation Video

Justin: Hey, guys. Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, here to talk about the benefits of using the Bama X4 Flash Tuner, loaded with the new custom Bama V2 Tunes on your Coyote powered '11 to '14 GT. Now, here with me today, Paul Meister from the Bama Performance Team. He's going to talk a little bit more about what the average Coyote owner can expect when uploading a tune to their GT. Paul? Paul: What you can expect when uploading your tune to your '11 to '14 Mustang GT is a complete remap electronic throttle calibration for improved throttle response. For the automatic owners, it's a complete redesign of the shifting characteristics from shift points, torque converter lock and unlock, fan setting changes, fuel map changes, spark map changes. And of course, a refocus on the twin independent and variable cam for improved drive-ability and maximum performance. Justin: Absolutely. With the new Bama V2 Tunes, we're talking about a performance, and we're also talking about a race tune. Can you explain the difference? Paul: Correct. Our Performance V2 Tune is really designed for that aggressive daily driver. It offers a seamless blend of performance and drive-ability. And we do that with a remap ETC; electronic throttle calibration. The automatic guys get a completely revised shift schedule, torque converter changes, and again, some of the twin independent variable cam stuff as well, that we spoke about. The Race V2 Tune is designed for just that; race use only. We pretty much disable all the torque management. It's designed to shift really aggressively for the automatic guys, and just deliver everything that's left on the table from the vehicle. Justin: Yeah, and guys, don't forget, with Bama's "Free Tunes For Life," as your car's modifications grow, Paul and his team at Bama Performance will write a new tune for each and every mod so you can get the most out of your set-up. Now guys, that's going to do it for now. Paul's going to basically translate what he just said in the dyno numbers shortly when we run our 2012 GT behind me. But in the meantime, Paul's going to get out of here. We're going to talk a little bit more about what you can expect with the X4 tuner itself. As for the actual Bama SF4 tuner itself, well, as you can see, it's a pretty sleek, compact and modern design but with a very large, easy to read, full color LCD display. Now, some of the features with this full color display include a landscape mode, meaning you can turn it sideways, just like a lot of smartphones out there, for a completely different view. You can also choose different colors and themes available through a menu. And you can also go ahead and select a power-saving auto-dim feature to use while the tuner's plugged in but not in use. So, why the larger screen? Well, the Bama SF4 does feature on-screen gauges and data logging similar to what you'd find with more expensive models like the SCT Livewire or even the ITSX, for instance. These screen layouts are fully customizable and can display up to eight different values at one time, including boosts, air fuel ratio, coolant temp and intake air temperature, just to name a few. And by the way, you can data log these just with a simple touch of a button. Other features with the SF4 do include built-in WiFi which is a nice little touch and allows you to take care of those future firmware updates wirelessly. Now, the tuner does feature dual analog inputs and a removable power cord, making storage in a glove box or armrest that much easier. The tuner does still hold 10 tunes at one time and is still capable of reading and clearing those diagnostic codes just like any other tuner available out there on the market today. Finally, guys, if you do have any more questions about the SF4 tuner itself, please head back to the product page at AmericanMuscle.com where you can read up on some more details in addition to some customer reviews. Now, before we show you just how much power you can expect on your '11 to '14 GT using a custom Bama V2 Tune, I just wanted to walk you guys through the actual process of uploading the tune using your Bama Performance X4 Flash Tuner, and then we'll go ahead and make our Dyno pull here with our 2012 GT and show you guys the results. To start, you're going to want to locate your car's OBD-II port, which on the '11 to '14 Ford Mustang GTs is located on the lower portion of the dash here. So, go ahead and plug your tuner in and wait for it to power on. Navigate to your performance or race tune. Select the tune you wish to upload. And then just follow the detailed instructions listed on the screen here. Of course, if you guys have any trouble whatsoever during this process, you can always reach out to a Bama Tuning Expert. They're always standing by, ready to help you guys out. With our baseline run already in the books and the tuneup loaded, Paul's going to hop in the car and make another hit here on the Dynojet and see what kind of numbers you can expect with your GT. Our baseline run using our stock 2012 GT gave us 365 horsepower and 343 pound/feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Bama V2 93 race tuneup loaded, the car is now making 397 horsepower and 382 pound/feet of torque. That gives us a peak gain of 32 horsepower over those baseline numbers, and gains of as much as 50 horsepower and 47 pound/feet of torque throughout the curve. The Bama X4 tuner loaded with the new custom Bama V2 Performance and Race Tune is a great way to make the most out of your stock or modified Ford Mustang GT, and is no doubt one of the easier mods you will ever tackle with your ride. Custom Bama Tunes specific to your vehicle. When you order a tuner, you aren't just getting a tuner - you are getting the tuner and 2 dyno-tested custom Bama tunes:

    • Performance V2 (87-93 Octane) - The Performance Tune offers a seamless blend of power, performance and drive-ability. Improving the overall driving experience of your Mustang, the Bama Performance Tune improves vehicle acceleration, increases power throughout the entire RPM and improves throttle response with revised timing, fuel, and TiVCT maps. Automatic equipped vehicles offer an aggressive shifting map to provide more aggressive transmission settings. This tune is suggested for the aggressive daily driver that is looking for more "get up and go".

    • Race V2 (91-93 Octane, E85, Race Fuel) - The Race Tune is designed for maximum performance and ensures the largest increase in vehicle performance. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area is mandatory as timing, TiVCT, fuel, and throttle response settings are very aggressive. Automatic transmission settings implement entirely new shift points, torque converter changes and firmness settings designed for Track use.

Nitrous (91, 93, E85, Race Fuel) - Our nitrous option can be added to any of our previously mentioned tune options, but only for 91, 93, E85, or Race Fuel.

Technical Note About Fuel. Use of E85 will require larger fuel injectors such as Injector Dynamics ID1300 or Ford Racing 47lb/hr Injectors. Unleaded race fuel can also be used, but Stoichiometric points must be supplied.

Easy to load; easy to restore. Not only are the custom tunes easy to load on your vehicle, it is just as easy to restore your factory settings. When you load your custom tune on the vehicle, the tuner automatically stores your vehicle's factory settings. To return the vehicle to its factory settings, just plug the tuner back in, select the option to restore the factory settings, and you're done.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

      Tuned nice

At first it was a little difficult to figure out seeing as how it’s not shipped with any type of information or instructions. A couple calls to AM and they sent me a few different tunes to load in. The car has mind blowing acceleration and it does a few custom things I had wanted. It took about 20 miles of driving for the ECM to learn the new program. I love how the tuner shows me all of the important engine parameters in real time too.

Update of device is easy. Programming vehicle a bit nerve wracking due to many stories about ecu lockout, but that didn’t happen to me. (Windows down, lights off, radio off, display off, ac off - that’s all i did) On 93 race tune now. So far i can feel the aggressive shift points on my a/t, but everything else i have not tried to test. 5 stars so far

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

Do not wait, get the tuner!

I wanted to get a tune for my 2013 ford mustang gt automatic for a while. I wasn't sure if it was worth the money and if it would make a drastic difference in my car. I had already installed an airaid cai, pypes mid-pipe, and a roush axle-back exhaust. I had checked the reviews dozens of times and watched numerous videos. I then decided that I will buy the tuner in hopes of improving my car. It was plug and play and did not require much time to install the actual tune. The difference is truly night and day! If anyone had any negative reviews it would probably be due to technical issues. When I tried the race tune and started driving. I can now feel every single shift that is occurring. Prior to the tune, the auto would shift at very strange rpms and times. After the tune, I would pull really hard. For the first time ever since I had purchased the car I am actually spinning because of the power. The car drives better and pulls way better than I would have ever expected. I had always wondered if and how much the tune would actually help. But the tunes from bama turn the car into a beast! Even my friend which owns a c6 ls3 was surprised how well my car was pulling compared to before. If there is one mod that I will do for certain going forward on any future mustang. That would be the tune because it really made a big difference. It really does increase horsepower, but most importantly change shift points for the auto. Hands down the best purchase so far!

      Bad a**!!!

This tune really woke up my mostly stock mustang! I ran a 13.291 with just a bbk intake and roush axle back exhaust. She has factory 3.73 gears and is the 6 speed manual. After the race tune for 92 octane I ran a 12.879. If I had drag radials I would be closer to mid or maybe low 12s. Love this tuner and bama for doing the tune!!

      Must Have Upgrade

This is the second Bama tuner I have purchased and I'm not disappointed. I've got nearly 100k miles on my 13 GT and I'm just now getting around to a tune. The only aftermarket parts I have are mufflers and different size wheels, so I wasn't expecting a huge power increase. There definitely is a slight increase in power but the way it shifts is GREATLY improved. Throttle response is much better, it downshifts under less aggressive acceleration, upshifts feel much firmer. Bonus is that the speedometer was recalibrated for my new wheels and is now accurate (it's been running 4 too fast for tens of thousands of miles). Looking forward to adding a CAI and intake manifold and getting my new tunes. Lifetime tunes are a great benefit.

Custom tune is a waste of money.

My buddy and I both got 2014 gt mustang and got this Tuner with 2 custom tune. His car stalled so many times and wouldn't pass emissions. He reinstalled original CAI and tune and everything is fine. As for my car, at least once a week I got misfire and wouldn't passed emissions. I called AM and they told me the tune would pass emissions but that is not the case. I had to install stock tune to pass emissions everytime, twice. I finally put stock CAI and tune back permanently. What a headache.

Tuner Works Fine, Custom Tune Does Not.

I had two custom tunes written for my car, one was a 91 tune and the other a 93 tune - written by the folks at BAMA (Other than the ones that came on the advice). The custom tune that was written made the car misfire and feel sloppy at all RPM's, I figured it was my car so I did a fuel pressure check, changed coil packs, plugs, fuel filter - did nothing. I swapped to one of the tunes that comes on the device and my car woke up like nobodies business, I highly recommend the tunes that come on it and skipping getting a custom tune.

Review from Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner w/ 2 Custom Tunes (11-14 GT; 12-13 BOSS 302)

Things have changed since my 92 Mustang.

I've owned many different Mustangs over the last 40 years including a 77 Mustang Cobra that I turned into a wild beast, a 92 Mustang 5.0L LX Coupe that was known for being the fastest street car within a 100 miles of where I live and now I own a "Give Me a Ticket Please", Red, 2013 Mustang Prem. 5.0L with an automatic transmission that I've named Ginger. Now, don't laugh about me getting an automatic, rowing gears isn't as fun at my age as it use to be! Anyway, I just got this car for Father's Day 2018 with only 4299 miles on it. The car was great for just driving around and if you wanted a firmer shift for a little more spirited driving, all you needed to do is put the trans. in Sport Mode, which I found to be quite good. But, as with any real Gearhead, I wanted a bit more of everything all the time. So, I installed a 93 octane Performance Tune from BAMA. The minute I rolled out of the driveway I could feel improvement in the shift firmness and that was just in the standard trans. mode. I actually had a smile come up on my face as I drove up the road by my house. "If this is the Performance Tune", I said to myself, "I can't wait to see what the 93 octane Race Tune will be like". Anyway, after driving a few miles to a nice curvy back road that is a joy to play on, I shifted into Sports Mode and turn off the nannies so I could had full control of the car. All I could say was "OMG, this car feels like a Fire Breathing Dragon wearing horse shoes!". There was never any one change that I ever made that made such a big difference in performance on my 92 LX other than maybe going from 2.73 gears to 4.11s, that you would really notice! The car has now become a whole new beast to get use to over the next several days. Maybe in a week I will drop in the Race Tune for a few days but I'm thinking I wont be able to leave the Race Tune in except when I drive. Right now, I'm really not sure the wife would like driving the car with the Performance Tune installed. But hey, she hasn't driven the car yet, so if she thinks this is normal and decides to just not drive it like she did the 92 Mustang I had back in the day, who am I to argue?

      Bama flash tuner

Installed a BBK blackout cold air intake, programmed the custom tune "race" into my cars computer.what a difference,no more throttle hesitation, trans is a 6 speed automatic transmission. It launches like a rocket and now chirps the tires every time car shifts to 2nd gear.so awesome. much more fun to drive.Without a doubt a noticable difference, and that's the truth ruth.install your choice CAI and use this tuner, its very simple and fast to use,and go live the excitement...T...out..got to go burn some rubber...
