  • The 2014 Mustang V6 does use the MT-82 transmission, but there are some slight differences between the GT and the V6 when it comes to the transmission. Because of those differences the Steeda MT-82 Transmission Mount Bushing Insert will not work with the V6 model.

    NVH, sure. Worthwhile? Yes.

I haven't been a fan of the MT-82 since I got my '15 GT. I installed a Barton shifter last year which helped, but still wasn't really thrilled. The NVH concerns in comments concerned me but I can say having experienced it myself now, it's not that bad. Sure there is some noise, but with the radio on it's not noticeable. And it's worth it to enjoy my car for driving the way it was meant to be driven.

    Noisy and notchy

Installed this the day i got it at my work on a lift. Drilled a hole thru the bottom of the insert hoping there would be no nvh. Install went smooth. I recommend not using the grease that comes with it i used silicone spray and it alid right in. Went for a test drive and immediately noticed a difference. All gears are now notchy and sometimes get locked out of 2nd. You can hear everything moving inside your trans even when you engage the clutch. Was not please. I could hear it over my exhaust and i have a borla cat back. I got worried that i was probably doing more harm than good seeing as i was getting more gear noise and notchiness and getting locked out of 2nd so i removed it and everything is back to normal. This insert is not for every one. For the price of 30 bucks i wasnt really worried about the money more ao i was worried that i might be wearing out something else

Noise, vibration increased too much. Modified it.

Shifting improved a little, noise increased a lot. I didn't want to pay 30 bucks and a half hour just to transmit more nose to the cabin and spend another hour to take it out modify it and put it back in. It is too stiff, needs to be a softer durometer. I was going to remove it all together but decided to modify it. I notched the sides, and nearly removed all of the bottom/center using a sawzall. This reduced the noise by at least half without shifting going back to full slop. So, I'll probably leave it in there.

    You can feel the difference.

This took some muscle getting in even with a good amount of grease but it wasn't bad. you can feel a little more through the shifter but I don't mind. This is a muscle car not a civic. I haven't been able to get on it yet due to some other issues but it seems to feel a little bit more solid the little I drove the car.

    I wouldnt recommend

It does make the transmission feel more solid, and does make the car feel more throttle responsive as there is no hesitation due to the flexing of the trans mount, just added too much NVH for me. I took it back out of the car. I didn't like the added vibration.

    Fit my ecoboost perfectly

Fitment was perfect, easy install, helped with the famous 3rd gear high rpm missed shift. Yet ta miss 3rd since I installed insert.

    Huge improvement

The best way to describe this upgrade... If the car came with this bushing factory and you removed it, you'd HATE IT. putting this in made the car feel right. Very minor increase in vibration, but I enjoy that.

    Great bang for the buck

For the price I had to try this. My car frequently experienced "high RPM lockout" going first to second and second to third, usually at very inopportune times. It is way worse when I have my tune installed that lets it spin to 7200 RPM. The installation wasn’t too bad. Longest part was getting it far enough off the ground, I don’t have a lift. Other than that just wrestling it into place, big pliers helped. First drive after the install the shifter, and oddly enough even the clutch felt “different”. The shifting issues are way better. I don’t think I have experienced lockout since I installed this. For me, I am very sensitive to NVH, the added NVH was too much. Very annoying and loud especially around 2K RPMs. My wife even noticed and commented. I pulled the bushing back out and cut out just the flat part in the center and put it back in. The NVH issues were almost completely gone and the shifting improvements remain. I’d highly recommend this part, after the modification to anyone to help battle one of the MT82’s many issues. The slight addition NVH that remains isn’t too bad. Only took a couple of days to get used to. As delivered I would say it would be for a race car only, too much NVH for a daily driver. With the modifications to the part it is something everyone should have.

    Effective but with NVH sacrifices

I ordered this for the sake of reducing drivetrain flex under load to improve high rpm shifting. I was lucky enough to have access to a lift and was able to have the part installed within a half hour while working at a very casual pace. The good news is it does an EXCELLENT job of improving high rpm shift accuracy. I was very surprised at the shifting difference as it required less concentration to nail high speed, high rpm shifts. The bad news is that the NVH increases are great enough to completely offset the shifting gains, in my opinion at least. The vibrations in the floor and moaning noise at certain load levels actually made me worry that I'd have interior trim loosening up and rattling prematurely. It just wasn't worth it for me since the vibrations and moaning are ever-present and the increased shift accuracy only comes into play for less than about 0.1 of the time I spend driving. I removed it after a week. I have to be more deliberate with high rpm shifting without the bushing, but its not like it was that bad to begin with and I rarely miss shifts anyways. If you spend time on tracks or autocrosses, this might be worth it, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. However, I also installed the Steeda shift bracket with the softer bushing and that piece tightened up the shifter action a little bit without producing any significant side effects and I'll recommend that part all day long if you want to improve shift feel on daily driver.

    Nice and stiff

I've had it installed for around two weeks now, was really stiff at first. I can tell its lightened up a little but it still feels a lot better then before it was installed. Do this was a short throw kit of your choosing and an AMSoil swap, and its a night and day difference with the MT82.

Trans mount bushing MT-82 Boss 302

Installed this on my 2012 Boss 302 after getting locked out of 3rd and 5th gear a WOT from trans movement and fluctuation. Product took all of 15 minutes to install and no more trans flex i can now rip through the gears like a boss should be.

    Outstanding!!!!!

I bought the bushing because my transmission shifter had a lot of slop in it so i wanted to see if this would fix it. $30 later im like wow this is amazing. Not only is the shifter tighter but i barely miss gears now and its just all solid movements. The installation was easy and took 15 minutes. The knky thing i noticed was an increase in vibration in the lower rpms but other than that this product is fantastic.

Not bad, but not night and day either

Took about an hour and a half to install. Went in ok, used alittle grease to make it in all the way. I didn't remove my exhaust, but if you have the stock resonator mid pipe, you might have alittle more difficulty. Pretty straight forward. Alittle more NVH, but not unbearable. And I don't really notice much of a difference unless I'm shifting at higher rpms. Overall it's a nice upgrade for the price, but it wouldn't be my first mid. And might as well upgrade the shifter bushing too. Then you should really feel a difference.

    The slop is gone!

After taking less than 30 minutes to take the trans bracket off and slip this bushing in, with the help of a little grease, the slop is almost gone! Can't believe for $30 it was this easy to eliminate it. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to hit more consistent shifts.

Not much of a difference ..... Not worth it....

So I had big hopes for this product. I was disapointed. On a lift it took about 30 minutes to install. Didnt really feel any difference. I have a Barton 2 post shifter bracket. Now that piece made a HUGE difference. But this piece.... shifter feel is the same. I think the MT82 shifter needs a barton 2 post shifter bracket and it needs to be warmed up. My shifts are near perfect when tranny is warmed up. But for the first 5 minutes or so of driving around its ; a little weird ( not smooth at all ) . Maybe this steeda insert could have a benifit on people with a stock shifter ? But honestly 1st mod should be to replace that stock shifter with a quality unit like Bartons 2 post!

    Must have for your MT-82

If you have a MT-82 transmission this Steeda transmission bushing insert is a must have. Installation took about 30 min. Difference is night and day. Before the bushing I had the FFRP short shifter, and that helped but I would be occasionally locked out of second when accelerating and turning. Now that is no longer an issue. I did not notice any added NVH. Highly recommend this product.

Great buy! It’s a must buy for automatic! Did not increase NVH, shifts feel smoother and more solid. I wish I had bought this a year ago. The install took about 20 min with taking the pictures. Do yourself a favor and get this upgrade.
