    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with an overview of the Steeda strut tower brace for the 2015 and up S550 GT and EcoBoost Mustang. In this video, we're gonna be talking about the materials and construction of this truck tower brace and a little about the install as well. This is an easy install. It's gonna be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, but I will go into more detail later about the install. This strut tower brace is the perfect option for the S550 owners that are looking to add the benefits of a strut tower brace but that want something different than the standard OE strut tower but they still wanna stick with the parallel beam design. A strut tower brace does have some handling benefits, but it also has an impact on the underhood styling as well. This brace looks different than any of the other options in the market right now. The thought process behind the strut tower brace is that it can tighten up some of the freedom that the front end has. Since a strut tower brace is gonna help stiffen the front suspension of the Mustang by providing added support to the strut towers and providing flex during cornering. This is gonna make the chassis more rigid, which will result in better handling, because eliminating the flex in the strut tower will work to maintain a flat tire on the ground at all times, giving you as full of a contact patch as possible. This brace is made from tubular Chromoly steel and this brace will work on all 2015 and up GT and EcoBoost Mustangs no matter the package or trim of the car. By that I mean it'll work with or without the stock performance package Cabriz [SP], but it does work best performance-wise with the help of that Cabriz just as any strut tower brace would. And, of course, it is powder-coated wrinkle black to keep the good looks. Keep in mind that like a lot of other suspension parts, a strut tower brace is gonna make a noticeable improvement by itself even on a completely stock car. But as usual, remember that this is only one component of the suspension and the improvements of the brace can be even more considerable when you start pairing it with other suspension mods. Once you start making other suspension upgrades, the strut tower brace will work to keep everything tied together and feeling tight and more stable. This means overall more consistent suspension no matter what you're doing with your car. As far as price, this brace isn't what I consider expensive, but it is one of the more expensive options. It's priced closer to the Mishimoto and Ford Racing black braces, so you can expect to pay around $200. One thing to keep in mind when you're shopping for strut tower braces is your future mods. So just be sure to shop around for a taller brace if you plan on things like superchargers or a taller manifold. If we move on to the install, this is an easy install that anyone is able to tackle by themselves in the driveway at their garage. Should take less than an hour to complete, and I'm gonna call it a one out of three wrenches on the scale. Won't need any tools out of the ordinary, just a 13-millimeter socket with a ratchet. The instructions are very easy here. The brace installs with only four bolts on each side. There are four nuts that are on each side of the strut mount. Just back the nuts off of the studs here and place the brace on the studs. You align the brace by centering the studs in the brace holes. You wanna loosely thread the nuts back onto the studs then, and once the brace is aligned you can fully tighten down the nuts and that's all it's gonna take. I'd take the car for a quick test drive and make sure everything feels okay, and then go from there. Wrapping things up here with the Steeda strut tower brace, this is a brace that has a parallel beam design and has a tubular Chromoly steel design that's powder-coated black. As always you can check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

Reduce Flex and Improve Handling. Eliminate unwanted chassis flex and improve the handling of your S550 Mustang by installing a race-tested Steeda Strut Tower Brace. The parallel beam design of this Strut Tower Brace adds additional strength to make your Mustang handle like it is on rails. As an added bonus the Brace features a polished billet "Steeda" emblem for impressive custom under hood styling.

Tubular Steel Construction. Designed and manufactured in the USA, this Steeda Strut Tower Brace is crafted from 4130 chromoly steel tubing for superior strength. The parallel beam design of the Brace will keep the front end of your Mustang from flexing do to the monstrous torque of your powerful engine. Steeda then completes their Strut Tower Brace in a classic black wrinkle powder coat finish for long lasting durability and aggressive good looks.

Easy Bolt-on Installation. Steeda engineered their Strut Tower Brace to be a simple bolt-on upgrade that clears the factory intake manifold, including the plastic engine cover. The Strut Tower Brace can be easily installed in under an hour's time using basic hand tools.

Application. This Steeda Strut Tower Brace is designed to fit 2015-2018 left hand and right hand drive GT and EcoBoost Mustangs. Does not fit 2015-2018 V6 Mustang models.

      great mod

Ordered this steeda strut tower brace and it shipped fast. After taking it out of the box I looked at all the hardware, I was unsure where some of the parts went but when you take a look under ur hood it's easy to see where the spacers and nuts that came with it go. Install took about 5 minutes. After the install I stood back and took a look and was impressed on how nice the quality is and how well it fits. When I went for a test drive I could feel the difference, the handling was much better. If you are looking for a mod that looks great, is a great fit, and is functional then I suggest this steeda strut tower brace.

Flatter cornering only a couple hours away

I installed this brace on my EcoBoost (w/ Performance Pack) in about 2 hours and was immediately impressed with the reduction of flex and improved body posture in the corners. The install is straightforward, however make sure you have a torque wrench on hand and I found that a pass-through head socket wrench makes loosening factory bolts a lot easier. The only knock on this brace is the Steeda logo plate, which looks out-of-place on the beautiful powder coat. I would have liked to have seen a flat finish on the plate or something a little more subdued.

Added it to Ecoboost Performance Package

Even though the Ecoboost Performance Package comews with the k-brace from the strut towers to the firewall, it is just not enough. After adding the Steeda tower brace my Mustang exhibited significant improves in handling and overall front-end stability. Bumpy roads have less detrimental effect on steering even. I got a much bigger improvement than I expected.

      The Better Brace

I like this brace due to it's custom race look and that the chromoly will flex less then any of the other brace materials out there. I only wish there were more color choices

      Stut brace 2016 gt

The product was shipped very fast, was well packed and came with decent instructions. All the hardware was accounted for. The product itself is well constructed and allows easy access to the dip stick due to its tubular construction. In my opinion it looks better then the factory brace and can be purchased at a much lower price. Installation took about 15 minutes. You spend more time installing the name plate then actually bolting it to the car.

      Must Have

The difference is night and day. Noticeably tighter handling. My girlfriend noticed as soon as she sat in my car without even knowing I had installed it. Only gripe, and it's not really Steeda's fault, but they could remedy the problem: the two inner studs are a different thread pitch than the two outer studs. The provided nuts work great on the outer studs, but reusing the OEM outer nuts on the inner studs only works for two of the four requiring nuts.

Should Have Been Standard Equipment on GT

This brace is probably not for the all-out racer but it noticeably improves handling and cornering. It was a breeze to install. I didn't disconnect the positive battery terminal as the directions called for, until I tried to squeeze the brace under it. Wouldn't go until I did it. The directions are easy to follow and all the fasteners and spacers are included. I put several coats of clear coat on the shiny aluminum name plate before attaching it to the brace. That job took almost as long as the entire installation.

      steeds strut bar

Fit perfect looks nice and great price only problem that I had was that none of the nuts for the 8 bolts were labeled in separate packaging so when I put two on with out knowing they were different sizes I broke the strut bolts loose from being pressed in so I had to weld them down to be able to get the nuts off and to put the right nuts on besides that I love it looks good and handles even better

      Nice Looking Mod

The Steeda strut tower brace looks great and was easy to install. I like the twin bars which make it easier to get to the oil dip stick. I had no problems with the bolts on the name plate as another reviewer stated. Maybe Steeda corrected the problem because my installation was a breeze. Great product as always from Steeda.

Brace does it's job but it's not worth the hassle.

The strut tower brace in and of it's self is good. Install of the brace too less than 30 min once I finally got to that part. The issue I had, and what took a 45 min install hours was the silver Steeda vanity plate was a pain to get on. First off the image shows bolts that use Alan keys, what I got in the box were cheap Phillip's head screws that looked like garbage when installed. The screws were also supposed to be held on with locknuts that couldn't be installed do to a combination of the bolts being too big to match up against the holes and the actual pipes of the strut bar preventing them from even getting to match up in the first place. In the end I had to go to a local hardware store and find pieces I needed that worked most of the way. I'm still planning on just taking the bolts I bought out and welding the plate on. So if you don't care about getting the look the product advertised, and all you want is performance, then the brace is pretty decent. But if you want to get what you paid for vanity-wise as well either don't get this or prepare for a minor head ache.

      Well Built

Solid item, right out of the box. The instructions are pretty clear and the install is pretty straight forward. Although, what it doesn't tell you is that you will need a 15mm Deep Socket for the stock nuts and a 17mm Deep Socket to install the new ones. Other than that, be patient when install because it is easy to lose parts in the S550 engine bay. But, once you get everything tightened down, I would take it out for a test drive and have your torque wrench and a 17mm wrench handy and check the hardware every so often.

      Great Product - Horrible Packaging

Honestly did not expect much handling gain out of this but it is noticeable. Overall the product it great, my only complaint is the packaging. Because I work in Tier 1 automotive and am directly involved in packaging definitions I am a little more critical than most. I ordered this at the same time I ordered a rear decklid. The packaging on it was OEM quality if not better but this strut brace was a nightmare. Either way once you get it unwrapped installation is a breeze.

Low cost for the return in performance

I just installed this on my 2017 ecoboost mustang, and it made a very noticeable improvement. It takes bumps better, stays flatter when cornering, and just seems to make the car ride a little firmer. Also fits, and looks great!
