Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour
April 04, 2015
Combined with the Steeda shifter bracket this is light years ahead of what comes stock in the car. I had installed the shifter bracket last summer with the stock shifter, and it was a good improvement, wish I had just bought the combo last summer as this improves the transmission 100.
The install took about an hour, only because I had to take the shifter and shifter bracket off the car as I needed to install the spacer provided in the kit on the shifter bracket (the car wouldn't go into 1st or 2nd). After that it was smooth sailing.
Compared to stock the shifts are more precise and positive. 1st to 2nd on my car was a bit vague originally (I've had it happened a few times where second gear wasn't fully engaged), after installing this you know that it is in gear. The throws are a bit shorter, nothing drastic but definitely an improvement.
As far as quality goes this is much, much better than stock. The stock shifter uses a ton of plastic and the base plate is pretty flimsy stamped steel. NVH increases a bit, but the positives offset the negatives by leaps and bounds.
