    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with a review of the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub for 1984 to 2004 Mustangs that'll be running an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. In this video, we're gonna talk a little bit about the steering wheel hub and we're gonna talk about the install as well. I'll get into more detail later on, but the install for this is an easy one, and I'm gonna call it a one outta three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You should be checking out the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub if you're shopping for an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel for your '84 to '04 Mustang. A MOMO steering wheel will require the hub to be installed in order for the steering wheel to be installed. This really is gonna be your only hub choice if you're shopping for a MOMO steering wheel or you already have one and you want to get it installed on your car. It's made specifically for those MOMO Wheels and made specifically for the '84 to '04 particular year range. When it comes to construction, the hub is made from steel and aluminum. Has a collapsible steel center section and a splined aluminum base. The other nice thing here is the hub has a black rubber sleeve and that's gonna give the hub a better finished appearance once it's installed. It'll go better with both the wheel and the column shroud. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay just south of the $100 mark for this hub. Like I mentioned earlier, this is the only option if you wanna run an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. One other thing that I did wanna mention here is that the 1990 to '04 Mustangs will also need a pre-1990 horn contact switch in conjunction with the hub adapter, so this'll cost about another $50 and AmericanMuscle does have that available. The install for this hub is very easy and we're gonna call it a one outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You can expect to spend an hour or two tops getting the install completed. I'm calling this an hour or two because I am assuming that you are also installing a new steering wheel at the same time as the hub. I will say that the install will change slightly depending on what year Mustang you're installing this on, but all you're looking at having to do is breaking down your stock setup, so removing the airbag, and disconnecting any wiring, and getting the wheel unbolted. Then you have the hub removal. Your new hub just slides into place and it's already gonna have your wiring with the connector in it so you're just looking at plugging right into that. You will need to wire a new horn for the steering wheel, and the new wheel just slides onto the hub and bolts down. Wrapping things up here with the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub, this is the hub that you'll need in order to install an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. It's made from aluminum and steel, and has a collapsible center section, and a black rubber sleeve for a finished appearance. You can check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

For Momo Wheels. Quickly and easily adapter your Mustang's steering shaft for your new Momo wheel with a Momo Mustang Steering Wheel Hub. This steering wheel hub features a collapsible steel center section and a splined aluminum base with a black rubber sleeve for a finished appearance.

Application. This Momo Steering Wheel hub is designed for installing a Momo steering wheel on all 1984 to 2004 Mustangs.

Technical Note. 1990-2004 Mustangs require the use of a Pre-1990 Horn Contact Switch in conjunction with the Hub Adapter, Ford part# E63Z-13A821-A. (See drop down option above)

My steering wheel is crooked is this normal do I need an alignment

    TylerW

Can this be used with a quick release adapter

    RafaelP

I recently bought this Steering Wheel Hub Adapter. It includes a piece of paper which tells you the tightening torques of fixing screw nut and steering wheel - steering spindle. Unfortunately, there is no recommendation on tightening torques for a Ford Mustang. How much ft-lb or Nm would you recommend for tightening of the fixing screw on a 93 Ford Mustang?

    AlexandraS

    • This MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub will need to be torqued to factory specifications - it would be 30-35 lb-ft of torque for 1993.

    • Yes installation on 1990-2004 Mustangs require the use of a Pre-1990 Horn Contact Switch in addition to the hub (Ford part# E63Z-13A821-A).

    • The MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub will fit you 1990 but will require the use of a Pre-1990 Horn Contact Switch in conjunction with the Hub Adapter, Ford part# E63Z-13A821-A.

    • The MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub is all you need to install a MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub on 84-89 Mustangs. However, 1990-2004 Mustangs require the use of a Pre-1990 Horn Contact Switch in addition to the hub (Ford part# E63Z-13A821-A).

Fits but it could be a lot better.

This adapter fits the Fox steering column but it’s not secure enough for my liking. Where as the factory steering wheel is an interference pressfit to he column shaft, this simply “slips” into the column and the 15mm hold down bolt is really the only thing preventing the adapter from slightly turning about the steering column. The adapter opening is not perfectly shaped to the steering column so it’s not a secure press fit. Also, because of this, the 6 holes for mounting the steering wheel are off center so you’ll have to have the alignment toe adjusted to recenter your steering wheel.

      Works good.

If you’re installing with the wheel and removing the stock steering wheel it’ll take all day. The hub itself is easy. However my steering wheel does not sit aligned. Instead it’s a tad off to the right

      Perfect Fit

The NRG hub listed for SN-95 Mustangs did not fit my 2001 GT. The flat spots on the hub didn't line up which causes the wheel to sit sideways. I changed to the Momo, which was shipped fast as usual and it fit perfect. The Momo hub works perfectly with my NRG quick release.

      Worst Ever

First i bought a MOMO steering wheel and hub. I watched the video on the review and install which said it is an easy install. However, they dont tell you at least on the 96 mustang, it does not fit with the clock spring on and there for you have to buy other parts and it leaves a 2 inch gap in your column. Plus the hub comes with a 3 wire plug that goes to absolutely nothing including their own provided horn. The instryctions do not even address instalation of the hub. When i called AM they just said aorry about that 9 out of 10 if the reviews say it requires fabricating parts but they still sell them as direct replacements.

      Works well, looks good.

This MOMO Hub does work well, I used it on a Sparco wheel with no problems. On my 87 Mustang it did however move the wheel about an inch closer to the driver. This normally would not be issue as everything is still readily accessible and works correctly, but I have a roll cage in my car. Luckily I have a tilt wheel in my 87 Fox so it's not too big of a deal betting in and out, but it is worth mentioning. Also I like the crush function. For a car with no airbag it may help a little. PS. Get a steering wheel puller (makes life so much easier)

      Should be Nono. Hub

Doesn't fit factory trim around steering wheel column fit and finish is hideous if you don't care about the interior of your car then this set up is for you as for me I returned this along with the steering wheel it's unfortunate there is not a better looking set up to change to an after market wheel

      It's crazy expensive......

But Momo has you by the short hairs on this one. If you want to fit a Momo wheel to your fox, you'll need th to do it. Install was easy. No directions really but it goes on one way. No mods needed to fit on an 88. Slid right on.

      Fairly easy install

99-04 GT, Disconnect bat. Remove the airbag, steering wheel, all the trim under the steering wheel, metal bracket and the clock spring that connects under the dash (Big yellow wire). Be patient and dont ruin anything because im pretty sure you have to hook up the airbag and clock spring again when you go for a smog check. I ended up just cutting the black wire by the ignition but all that wire does is make the dinging noise when you have the key in the ignition so i dont really care about that. Also the big bolt in the middle that holds this hub in is a 50 torx head. All in all it looks great, especially when paired with an NRG thin carbon fiber quick release.

      Great product, very impressed

I've been looking for a hub adapter after I blew the airbag out on my 96, and came across this hub, the install was a little tricky because you do have to take the clock spring off. But overall with a quick release this is an awesome product, you will loose cruise control and horn function on the wheel unless you decided to run a switch. The adapter only required minor modification since the wires in it serves no purpose. it seems pretty durable at high speeds, and I get nothing but compliments on it.

Great product, but no instructions and no horn

Great product and fit perfectly, only three problems: -No instructions (if your getting rid of Stock wheel you may need a gear/steering wheel removal tool, I rented one from my local auto parts store) -No horn (you'll need to create your own relay for your horn, I'm still working on mines ) -Lastly there will be an open gap in your steering column. You can see other reviewers where they fabricated their own cover, or you can just leave it I'm currently using an NRG wheel, NRG quick release and MOMO hub and it feels great
