Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with a review of the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub for 1984 to 2004 Mustangs that'll be running an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. In this video, we're gonna talk a little bit about the steering wheel hub and we're gonna talk about the install as well. I'll get into more detail later on, but the install for this is an easy one, and I'm gonna call it a one outta three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You should be checking out the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub if you're shopping for an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel for your '84 to '04 Mustang. A MOMO steering wheel will require the hub to be installed in order for the steering wheel to be installed. This really is gonna be your only hub choice if you're shopping for a MOMO steering wheel or you already have one and you want to get it installed on your car. It's made specifically for those MOMO Wheels and made specifically for the '84 to '04 particular year range. When it comes to construction, the hub is made from steel and aluminum. Has a collapsible steel center section and a splined aluminum base. The other nice thing here is the hub has a black rubber sleeve and that's gonna give the hub a better finished appearance once it's installed. It'll go better with both the wheel and the column shroud. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay just south of the $100 mark for this hub. Like I mentioned earlier, this is the only option if you wanna run an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. One other thing that I did wanna mention here is that the 1990 to '04 Mustangs will also need a pre-1990 horn contact switch in conjunction with the hub adapter, so this'll cost about another $50 and AmericanMuscle does have that available. The install for this hub is very easy and we're gonna call it a one outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You can expect to spend an hour or two tops getting the install completed. I'm calling this an hour or two because I am assuming that you are also installing a new steering wheel at the same time as the hub. I will say that the install will change slightly depending on what year Mustang you're installing this on, but all you're looking at having to do is breaking down your stock setup, so removing the airbag, and disconnecting any wiring, and getting the wheel unbolted. Then you have the hub removal. Your new hub just slides into place and it's already gonna have your wiring with the connector in it so you're just looking at plugging right into that. You will need to wire a new horn for the steering wheel, and the new wheel just slides onto the hub and bolts down. Wrapping things up here with the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub, this is the hub that you'll need in order to install an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel. It's made from aluminum and steel, and has a collapsible center section, and a black rubber sleeve for a finished appearance. You can check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

For Momo Wheels. Quickly and easily adapter your Mustang's steering shaft for your new Momo wheel with a Momo Mustang Steering Wheel Hub. This steering wheel hub features a collapsible steel center section and a splined aluminum base with a black rubber sleeve for a finished appearance.

Application. This Momo Steering Wheel hub is designed for installing a Momo steering wheel on all 1984 to 2004 Mustangs.

Technical Note. 1990-2004 Mustangs require the use of a Pre-1990 Horn Contact Switch in conjunction with the Hub Adapter, Ford part# E63Z-13A821-A. (See drop down option above)

will this work with a quick release???

  • The Momo Steering Wheel Hub is not a quick release by itself but can be equipped with specific 6-bolt quick release systems.

How do i wire up my horn to work?

  • There are endless possibilities to with the horn, and it can be done a few ways. It could be wired through the MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub by using a horn button, which it typically just a power and ground. If you wanted a relocated horn button, you would need a switch of some sort with the horn wires.

Will this steering wheel hub fit a Nardi steering wheel? I'm worried that it will be crooked due to the bolt pattern arrangement.

  • The MOMO USA Steering Wheel Hub will only be compatible with a MOMO steering wheel. It will not work with any other brands.

Will other wheels fit? I really want an aftermarket steering wheel, but I dont really want a momo wheel so I was wondering if this hub was only for momos. Also, is it a quick release or will it be bolted on if I decided to get one of these?

  • The hub can fit other steering wheels. It will be bolted up to it once you remove the clock spring.

    Great product Horrible shipping

This is the first time I questioned Americanmuscle. When I received my steering wheel yesterday the box that the steering wheel and the hardware were Completly destroyed. The boxes look like there were smashed and tapped back up. I would hope Americanmuscle wouldn't let this happen I am very lucky that I didn't sustain any damage but it scares me what happens next time say I but $2k rims and tires and when I get them their in a smashed box and it has a big scratch in it Americanmuscle needs to take a long look at it and make sure this doesn't happen again

We'll always make things right if a product arrives damaged to your door. Unfortunately, what happens during shipping after it leaves our warehouse is out of our hands in regards to how the shipping company handles the product - though they should always be handling items carefully. I can assure you, if a product is ever damaged during shipping, simply give us a call and we'll be sure to get you another right away. As a side note, our wheel and tire kits are very well packaged to prevent any harm during delivery so you shouldn't have any worries there either. I'm happy to hear there was no damage to your wheel hub and enjoy your new steering wheel!

    Should be Nono. Hub

Doesn't fit factory trim around steering wheel column fit and finish is hideous if you don't care about the interior of your car then this set up is for you as for me I returned this along with the steering wheel it's unfortunate there is not a better looking set up to change to an after market wheel

Adds a great look to go along with the Momo steering wheel I bought. Easy to install with plenty of YouTube videos out there to guide you.

    It's crazy expensive......

But Momo has you by the short hairs on this one. If you want to fit a Momo wheel to your fox, you'll need th to do it. Install was easy. No directions really but it goes on one way. No mods needed to fit on an 88. Slid right on.

    Fairly easy install

99-04 GT, Disconnect bat. Remove the airbag, steering wheel, all the trim under the steering wheel, metal bracket and the clock spring that connects under the dash (Big yellow wire). Be patient and dont ruin anything because im pretty sure you have to hook up the airbag and clock spring again when you go for a smog check. I ended up just cutting the black wire by the ignition but all that wire does is make the dinging noise when you have the key in the ignition so i dont really care about that. Also the big bolt in the middle that holds this hub in is a 50 torx head. All in all it looks great, especially when paired with an NRG thin carbon fiber quick release.

    Great product, very impressed

I've been looking for a hub adapter after I blew the airbag out on my 96, and came across this hub, the install was a little tricky because you do have to take the clock spring off. But overall with a quick release this is an awesome product, you will loose cruise control and horn function on the wheel unless you decided to run a switch. The adapter only required minor modification since the wires in it serves no purpose. it seems pretty durable at high speeds, and I get nothing but compliments on it.

Great product, but no instructions and no horn

Great product and fit perfectly, only three problems: -No instructions (if your getting rid of Stock wheel you may need a gear/steering wheel removal tool, I rented one from my local auto parts store) -No horn (you'll need to create your own relay for your horn, I'm still working on mines ) -Lastly there will be an open gap in your steering column. You can see other reviewers where they fabricated their own cover, or you can just leave it I'm currently using an NRG wheel, NRG quick release and MOMO hub and it feels great

As soon as I took it out of e box I smiled It's momo quality I installed the hub itself in less than five minutes It can be used for ANY six bolt steering wheel I had my own steering wheel that I used and for perfect I know it's safe and it's going to handle my style of driving I only don't like the wiring I think I might need the wiring harness from Am But that's my set up not the products fault Five stars all day

Overall great product besides one thing. When you take off the factory steering hub, and install this hub there is a big gap or hole open where you can see in the steering column. It is no problem for me, but may be to another person. This is an overall good product and easy install, and installed a quick release to go along with it. I reccomend this product to anyone who really wants that racing wheel upgrade.

    Not enough info available

I am mechanically inclined and I do a lot of work on my mustang but this item is shipped with no info with respect to installation. AM has a great bunch of people but they could not find anything either for a 1992 Fox so after removing my wheel and looking at the hub and associated items it seemed vague so I opted to have a shop do the install since the hub and steering wheel cost about $400 and I like to be able to steer my car at high speed.

    Easy install

I purchased the Momo hub adapter to install my Momo steering wheel on my 88 GT. It was an easy and much needed install. The factory horn plate was deteriorated. After removing the original wheel, the adapter installed in minutes, along with my new Momo wheel. Now I have a working horn as well.

99-04 mustang gt momo hub adapter

I bought this hub since it was reasonably priced and was purchasing the mono wheel I wanted to stick with same brand. However after pulling my stock steering wheel out I realized that my clock spring would have to be removed to fit the hub. This hub and the other hub adapters I looked at didn't say it would b an issue. I'm not sure if there is one out there but if resetting your blinkers by hand isnt an issue then I recommend this product. Over all it looks good minus the clock spring it fits good.

    This product looks great installed

Really love the end result of me installing this hub along with a momo competition steering wheel. It looks and performs flawlessly. The install was tricky due to this product not being plug and play, the instructions might as well of been non existent. With some electrical knowledge and patience it's totally achievable in your driveway with basic tools. Needed to fabricate my own brush switch. And don't waste your money on the ford part number. I didint use it on my 94.

    Works well, looks good.

This MOMO Hub does work well, I used it on a Sparco wheel with no problems. On my 87 Mustang it did however move the wheel about an inch closer to the driver. This normally would not be issue as everything is still readily accessible and works correctly, but I have a roll cage in my car. Luckily I have a tilt wheel in my 87 Fox so it's not too big of a deal betting in and out, but it is worth mentioning. Also I like the crush function. For a car with no airbag it may help a little. PS. Get a steering wheel puller (makes life so much easier)
