    i installed one of these sway bars on my 02 gt (lowered 1.5 inches) and am having clearance issues with my 18x9 FR 500 wheels what size wheel spacers should i get to get it to clear the bar

    Space How much room between the AC compressor and the bar?


    • Unfortunately we do not have that exact measurement. From what we can see it is a tight close fit but should not provide any clearance issues when installing this Steeda Heavy Duty Front Sway Bar (94-04 All).

      Great but not for wide wheels

      I bought the big sway bar and really love the handling improvement! Feels great up on the mountain roads and at the track. I do have some criticism though. I am running 18x9 FR500 wheels front and back. I lost about 3/4 of a rotation of my steering wheel when I go to make a u-turn with this swaybar. I had to purchase wheel spacers to get back some, but not all of my turning radius back. I now have a tire rubbing issue on my fenders in the front. I bought a fender roller for this. Don't get me wrong, the handling improvement was completely worth it since i do mostly track driving with the car, but if you are going to spend a majority of your time driving on the street, keep in mind of some of the other factors that go into installing this bar. A simple fix would be to bend it similar to the eibach one, which has a sharper bend towards the ends to accommodate for the inner wheel lip. Still worth it but I do have to ding it down a couple stars because I had to make other purchases to make it work right...sort of.

      Works great

      I installed it the day before an Autocross event. It was pretty straightforward. I had never done one before but I've done plenty of spirited mountain driving. I could immediately tell a difference with the new sway bar. It wasn't falling over itself and plowing into corners like it used to do. It helped with my confidence in taking the corners, and I improved every run. This sway bar was well worth the purchase. It looks great and is much larger than the factory piece. The only negative was the sway bar shipped over in a large box, and it was sticking out of the box at least 7 inches. But there was no damage to the sway bar.

      Dramatic difference...

      04 Mach 1 with 88k - I suggest a must have. Easy install with ramps or stands. Lowered my front end a couple years back then slowly did all the upgrades. Ball joints, bumpsteer, dampers - the bar I think was the final needed price to tighten everything up.

      Car actually turns in!!

      I was expecting less than I got from adding this sway bar. Does not feel like the car is plowing anymore. Highly recommend after you take care of springs, better dampers, and lower control arms. After all that it STILL makes a very noticeable difference.

      Big improvement

      Big improvement, great upgraded and great product. Installed around 1hr half to 2hrs and easy. Almost my whole suspension has been upgraded. Only thing still stock is rear sway bar. Still doing research on the best option for street/race use. Good buy.

      worthwhile upgrade

      Removing the old swaybar was a huge PITA. Installing this one from Steeda wasn't too bad, but it took a few tries. I nearly had to do each side at the same time. Otherwise, you'd get a certain % done on the left, and now the right side wouldn't fit. That type of thing. This piece from Steeda is thicker and lighter than the stock swaybar.

      Great product.

      I replaced my factory front sway bar with this steeda unit and it made a huge difference in the way the car feels going into tight turns. Body roll was significantly reduced and I can now go into turns at higher speeds with more confidence. This is one of the best suspension mods I have made.

      This swaybar was a great addition to my suspension!

      This swaybar took a friend and I less than an hour to install and made a big difference in the way the car handles. It really stiffened the feeling of the whole car. The car is now level all the way through turns. I can't wait to do the rear swaybar next for the complete package!

      Steeda Front and Rear Sway Bars

      I installed both sway bars onto my 98 Gt a few days ago. Made a big difference in the corners. No more body roll now, car feels flat throughout all turns. Great product, would recomend to anyone trying to get some better handling outave there stand

      Steeda 1.375 front sway bar

      I race SCCA, and this was one of the best modifications I have made !!! Reduced body roll. Only thing I wished it came with was greasable bushings. Other than that A++

      Steeda 1.375 front sway bar

      One of the best mods I did to the car no body roll, Corners like a dream. A real must have if you like taking it to the track or like to really push your car in the corners.
