Review & Install Video
Hey, guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today, I'm bringing you a quick overview and installation of the adjustable length fixed antenna in chrome, fitting all '79 to 2009 Mustangs. So in this video, I'll be going over the styling and appearance as well as the benefits and functionality of the adjustable length antenna, as well as its materials and construction. I'll top the video off with the installation, which I'll let you know upfront is a very simple one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. The adjustable length fixed antenna in chrome I have here today will be for all '79 to '09 Mustang owners who are looking to get rid of their stock ugly longer antenna and swap it out with a shorty length that gives them the adjustability to change it on the fly.
If your Mustang is running that factory antenna, you know, the 29-inch option that came on the car from the factory can stick out like a sore thumb. Now, if that's the case, you still might be caught between the 8-inch and the 14-inch aftermarket antennas we have on the site, or maybe both of those are just a bit too small for your liking. With that said, you can pick up the adjustable length fixed antenna we have here, which can allow you to adjust it anywhere from the 10 and a quarter inch to the 18 and a quarter inch options here depending on your preference and, of course, anywhere in between.
Now, aside from the styling and appearance, you also get that small bit of functionality out of adjustable antennas, where in the sense if you're in a location with weaker radio signals, you could always just adjust it be a bit longer. That way, you can pick up and get a stronger signal. Now, with that said, it doesn't make the world of a difference. But if you are in those areas, it could be a little more beneficial. And, of course, the main functionality is really just gonna be the appearance and styling.
As far as materials and construction goes, expect this to be manufactured out of a high-quality carbon steel. Of course, that's for durability. It will hold up against long-term daily use. On top of that, you've got the factory-size threading here, so you don't have to swap out the base of the antenna. This will fit right in your OEM specifications. On top of that, we've got a chrome-like finish, giving you the mirror-like shine. Of course, that's for a more attractive finish, ready for the guys out there attending a lot of car shows and wanna add that little bit of extra detail to their exterior.
Now, if you are interested in the adjustable length fixed antenna in chrome, you can pick this one up for just about 30 bucks. Now, in my personal opinion, it is a little bit overpriced, simply because the shorty antennas with the 8-inch or the 14 inches are about half of that. You can pick them up for about 15, almost 20 bucks. Now, of course, if you are interested in saving money, that's definitely the better route to take. But if you are interested in picking up the adjustable to get the better radio signal in your weaker areas or just to have that adjustability on the fly, this is definitely gonna be a good option.
My only nitpick with this, however, is gonna be that it doesn't exactly stay up the greatest. It will fall after a couple shakes sometimes. But then, of course, in some areas, it is better fitted. Now, again, if you are interested in saving some money, pick up an 8-inch or a 14-inch that are fixed non-adjustable. But if you're looking to get that adjustability on the fly, definitely gonna be a good option.
Shifting gears over to the install portion of the video, like I said in the very beginning, this one's gonna be simple enough for anybody to take care of in about a minute, which is why it gets the one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. So it's gonna as simple as unscrewing your 29-inch factory option and just simple screwing this adjustable option in. Thanks to the OEM specifications with the thread width.
Wrapping things up here, if you're the owner of a '79 all the way up to 2009 Mustang and you're looking for a way to swap out your factory 29-inch antenna for a shorter option, you might wanna check out the adjustable length fixed antenna in chrome, which, of course, can be found right here at americanmuscle.com.
