Noah: Hey, I'm Noah from AmericanMuscle, and you're looking at the Raxiom Axial Series Altezza Style Tail Lights with Black Housings and Smoked Lenses for the '99 to '04 Mustang, excluding the '99 to '01 Cobra. If you're looking to turn things up a notch with a pair of tail lights and darker-style lenses are what you're going for, then these are gonna be a great choice for you. So, these tail lights are really gonna stand out on your Mustang, but they won't be too flashy or distracting like some other aftermarket options. Now, I like to think that these are sort of an OEM plus design. We do have a black housing with a multifaceted chrome reflector on the inside, and then we have something a little different that you don't see too often. There's actually inner lenses inside the smoke lens that are red, and that's what gives the tail an overall very dark look. And the tail lights will work great with dark paint where they'll blend right in or against a lighter paint color where they'll really pop with that darker lens.Looking at the construction, these tail light housings are made from ABS plastic, so they're gonna take a beating. Then around the front, closing everything off, there is that outer lens with those inner lenses like I mentioned earlier. Now, both of those layers are made from polycarbonate, so they'll be impact-resistant and they'll hold up against any road debris or rocks that can get kicked up on the highway or something. They are also designed to use the factory halogen tail light bulbs that your Mustang came with, so these will drop right in where the stock ones came out. These tail lights from Raxiom come in right around $175, unbelievably affordable in the grand scheme of aftermarket lighting. Now, in terms of upgrades that can transform your Mustang, a set of tail lights from Raxiom is one of the most cost-effective ways to gain some more curb appeal. So, these tail lights have an install difficulty of one out of three wrenches, and the install time's only around 45 minutes. Now, these guys are plug-and-play like we talked about earlier, and getting them installed should really be a simple job for just about anybody. Speaking of install, I'm gonna hand you over to an actual AM customer and they're gonna walk you through the install process on their own vehicle step by step.Man: Okay, folks, I started with a trim tool, actually two trim tools and a ratchet with 11-millimeter socket, and I found out the previous owner had used some 10-millimeter nuts, so I had to use another small ratchet with a 10-millimeter socket. Okay, folks, the first thing you're gonna need to do is to remove the tie-downs. These are basically tie-downs for a cargo net. These are cargo net tie-downs. These are unscrewed, and you'll see them approximately here, and also here, and I'll show you how this one... I've already taken this one out, but you'll need to go ahead and just unscrew it, and then now I'm gonna set it to the side over here on the table. The next thing we'll do is to go ahead and remove the trim piece here using a trim tool. I've already started this one. Basically, take your tool underneath and just pry up and then go here and pry up again, and you'll have to work with it. It might take you a minute or two, but they do come out. All right. And there's the trim piece, the actual trim, I guess you would call it, plastic holder. But anyway, you'll take these out. I'll have one here, then you have one here, and I'll go ahead and start pulling on that one, and that comes out.All right, as you see, that popped out. There's that one, and then there's this one also, which we'll take out. You just have to work with it. Just be gentle. All right. So, I took that one out and it popped out. This trim piece actually comes off, okay? Set this to the side. Now, the next phase is basically going ahead and pulling the carpet or the panel away from the back. It'll move off to the side. The next phase of the removal will be a 3/8 ratchet with an 11-millimeter deep well socket. Okay. And I'm gonna start taking the nuts off right now. I'm gonna start here. Removed one of the nuts, and I'm working on the other three, and I'm just gonna finger-loosen them up. You want to be real careful with these. It's easy to tighten these two tight, and the whole bolt will come out from the actual tail light. You don't want that. So, when you install these new ones, you want to use a ratchet and not a impact driver or, you know, an electrical or hydraulic tool. You want to use a hand tool because they just need to be firm and hand-tightened. And that's very important because, like I said, you will strip it. Okay. There's one, and let me get this other one. Okay, folks, I'm just finding out that some of these may be a 10-millimeter and not 11-millimeter nut. So, we're gonna try the 10 with another ratchet and another socket, and it is working. And like I said, these have been hand-tightened. Just take your time, don't get in a hurry because the final outcome is you'll have some beautiful lights, okay? And the last one, I believe will be an 11. You wanna hold the tail light with the last nut and make sure it doesn't fall out, okay? I've gotten the last nut out. Now, folks, what I'm trying to tell you now is that I've already ordered a sequential tail light harness for my incandescent bulbs from AmericanMuscle. They are the SpeedForm Sequential Tail Light, incandescent wiring harness is what I'm basically saying. I firmly love them. They work great. It's like the old school style where it goes blank, blank, blank, and they work absolutely fantastic. If you want to slow 'em down, AmericanMuscle also has a Raxiom relay that will slow the turn signal down. So, I strongly recommend them. That's what I have on mine and mine are already numbered. Now, when you take it out, when you take the tail light out, you'll notice that mine are already numbered 1, 2, and 3, and the bottom is for your reverse light. Now, when you remove the actual bulbs from the tail light, you want to make sure that you put it back in the same sequence it went in. I'm fortunate enough that mine are numbered, but you need to keep track of the actual series of how they come out, and that's how they go back in, identically. So, I'm gonna remove this one and set it to the side. Remove this one, set it to the side. I'm gonna remove this one and set it to the side, and the last one will be my backup bulb. And I'm just gonna set those right there on the bumper, and now I'm gonna set my old tail light off to the side and I'm gonna go ahead and get my new tail light. Now, my new tail light, as you can see, is a beautiful tail light, smoke tail light. None the better. I spoke with one of the customer service reps and they strongly agreed that I would enjoy it, and I truly like the looks. What we need to do now, if you'll follow me, is these are just little plastic covers that need to be unscrewed and set to the side. These actually protected the bolts, okay? And now what we want to do is peel away this little paper, this protective paper, okay? So, set that here.Go ahead and peel this one off too. Just take your time. Might be a little tough coming off. They are a little gluey. But then, again, they're beautiful-looking tail lights. Now, as you can see, now they're ready for reinstalling. So, what I'm gonna do first is I'm gonna go ahead and install my backup light first which goes here, and make sure that you match them up. You have a large and a small, and you see there where it's large and this is small, make sure that it goes in and fits properly. So, what I'm gonna do is I will go ahead and reinstall... Okay, that one is in. You have to play with it a little bit, but if you'll turn it and make sure that it's in.Now, the next one's...mine happen to be numbered, so it won't take as long, but if you'll look at the actual tail light harness, you wanna make sure that you match up these to what's here. This being the small one, that being the small one, that would be a good bearing to use when you're reinstalling these, okay? There's number one, and now I have number two to put in, which I will, and I'm matching it up. I'm taking my time and matching it up, so they'll go right in real easy and you'll know that you have it in. And then what you'll need to do is go ahead and turn it. Okay, now that one is in. And last but not least is my third one. Okay. That one went in easy, and then it just twists in. You can see how simple it is.Now, when you go to put this back in, make sure that everything lines up before you do it. So, what I'm doing here is making sure that everything I have is lining up like it should, okay? So, I've got my holes here, I'm taking my time, not getting in a rush. Whatever you do, take your time. All right. Now, go ahead and just line up all the holes, make sure all the holes are lined up and it just slides right back in. Now, what I'm going to do is just the reverse of how I took them out. I'm gonna go ahead and add the nuts and put them back in. So, there's my first one, and here's my second one. As you can see, it's holding it in place, and they look pretty good too.Again, if I didn't mention, these are for '99 to 2004 Mustangs, the new edge Mustangs. As you can see, I'm working on the last nut that goes on, and then I'm gonna go back and tighten them. As I said, on my particular 2003 Mustang, I bought this used, so evidently, the previous owner has used 10-millimeter nuts. So you might find 10 or 11-millimeter, and I had to go get another ratchet with a 10-millimeter socket as you see. And I'll put this on the table with the other tools at the end of the video. All right. Now I'm gonna go ahead and tighten these up, make sure I've got it going.Like I said, you'll have to pull this back to access this panel, but it's not bad at all. Once it's on, they look great. I'm very pleased with how they look as I said before in the video. Preferably, you want to hand-tighten these, and then go back with the ratchet and just tighten them up. Okay. That one's done, and now I'm about to tighten this one. All right. Now I'm gonna tighten 11-millimeter ones up, and I just happen to have a thumb screw add-on here. It's a little thumb wheel added to the ratchet. It makes the job a little bit easier. All you guys out there that know what I'm talking about, you'll see. Not too tight, but just hand-tight. You'll feel it. Don't want to get it too tight, but tight enough where it's secure. All right, that one's done. Get my hand outta the way so we can get a good picture of this. Okay. Now, what we'll do now when you're done is take this and put it back. Take this and put it back, and then what you'll want to do now is take the cargo tie-down and reattach it. So now one side is done. Now, folks, if you will, the other side will be just the same. You'll do exactly what I did on this side. It should not be difficult. Take your time, don't get in a rush. You'll remove the tail light and then get the new tail light and peel the paper off and take the little plastic covers that protect the bolt and put it right back in.Each side should take you no longer than 15 to 20 minutes if you're taking your time on a nice sunny day like it is today. I'm gonna go ahead and finish up by putting the trim piece back on, and it just slides right down, and then these little plastic rivets, I guess you would say, go back in. Just find the hole, and basically, just use the palm of your fist and just tap 'em in lightly. This one goes right here, and this one goes right here.Noah: Those were the Raxiom Axial Series Altezza Style Tail Lights with Black Housings and Smoked Lenses for the '99 to '04 Mustang, excluding the '99 to '01 Cobra.
