Superior Construction. Made in the USA from 6061 T6 billet aluminum and 304 stainless steel, for solid construction, this short throw shifter includes higher durometer (harder) bushings that are firmer and much more durable over the standard stock rubber bushings.

Complete Kit. The Barton Industries Shifter Kit comes complete and includes the Shifter, a Barton flat stick, an OEM style stick, and a white 5-speed shift ball. The included shift handles and shift knob have a 12mm x 1.25 thread pattern, the same as stock.

Technical Note. Use of the Barton flat stick on a 2010 GT will require cutting the factory shift boot, or the use of a Roush shift boot P/N 420033 (sold separately) for a direct fit. No cutting or modifications are required for installation on a 2005-2009 GT.

        Works Great

I installed the shifter myself and it is much shorter and also very stiff. If you do not like notchy shifters than avoid this one. I love how it drives now!

        Night and Day Improvement

I previously had a Hurst Competition Plus shifter in my 2006 Mustang GT and used to think it was a nice shifter. But after missing 3rd gear a few too many times with the Hurst and noticing that grabbing gears, especially reverse, was getting more difficult, I finally decided to try the Barton shifter instead after reading so many good reviews about it. I also had a Blowfish V2 Manual Shifter Support bracket installed with this shifter. Well, the results were amazing. The Barton shifter feels 1000X better than the Hurst and I can tell that the gate to 3rd gear is designed so much better - I will Never miss 3rd again. I was almost ready to give up on my TR-3650 transmission thinking there was no solution to the high rpm lock-out, so prevalent in the stock remote shifter setup, but I was wrong. I would highly recommend this shifter along with the Blowfish support bracket and you will love your Mustang again.

        Quality Short Throw Shifter

After putting 132,000 miles on my factory Roush short throw shifter, it was time for an upgrade. I considered this or the MGW. So far, very pleased with the Barton. A quality product (like the Roush), very well made, and feels very positive going through the gears. Very easy install... but, I'd highly recommend a lift. Overall, a great upgrade for anyone from the factory shifter, or even another brand of short throw.

      5 Top Rated Questions

I have a 2008 Bullitt, which from my understanding already comes with a short shifter. So my question is how much of a difference is there between my stock shifter and this product?

      • The 2008 Bullitt Mustang comes with the same shifter as a GT. The only difference between the two is the Bullitt comes with a special shift knob and boot. This Barton shifter will be significantly different from the stock shifter. This shifter will create quicker, more positive shifts.

What's the difference between this Barton short throw and the round handled one?

      • The rounded version would have a round OEM style handle while this one would be a flat stick style handle. Barton also includes the round OEM style handle as well with this kit.

Will I have to modify the shift boot at all to fit this on comfortably?

      • This shifter is going to be a direct fit on the 05-09 Mustangs. If you are installing this on a 2010, minor modification will be required to the shift boot.

Would this work on a 2010 V6 mustang??

      • No, The Barton Short Shifter for the TR-3650 will only be compatible for the 05-10 GT's.

Even in gear, the shifter still moves side to side as if yes in neutral. Is that normal.

      • Due to the remote mounting style of your model Mustang's shifter, it is normal to experience small amounts of side to side play with the Barton Short Shifter.
