All right, guys. Well, it's safe to say that this is going to be a quick one today. But this is going to be a great option for any Mustang owner out there that's looking to quiet down their Mustang's interior. So this could range from anything, from driveline vibrations or sounds, maybe an exhaust leak, the louder exhaust system that you're just looking to quiet down, or any type of low-frequency vibration that you just want to drown out. Now, because this is a simple peel-and-stick job here, this is going to warrant a very easy one out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter here, depending on where you're replacing it, probably anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes. So we're looking at a pretty simple, effective, and inexpensive material here that's going to drown out unwanted noise found in structure-borne vibrations all over your car. This is made up of a viscoelastic polymer layer. It's going to have an aluminum wear surface up front, and then out back it's going to have a very, very, very sticky adhesive side that's going to be able to work in either hot or cold temps. Now, moreover with the adhesive side, I really like this, because you can put this almost anywhere around your car, like plastic metal or even fiberglass. So if you're familiar with Boom Mat at all, this is actually going to be a newer version of their product. It's going to be 33% thicker than the previous version. But it's still going to be about two millimeters thick, which for you means you can put this anywhere. Well, there's a ton of different materials out there and you can definitely get creative and throw something on your car. If you're shopping for this, which you're watching the video, you probably already put the money into your car, you're not going to want to skip a corner. Now, any type of material you're thinking about throwing in there is only going to be effective if it's pressed right up against whatever you're trying to drown out. I'll also mention that carpet, foam, or anything else you're thinking about putting either under your car, in your trunk, or anywhere around, may not play too well with heat. This is going to be incredibly fire-resistant, so you're not going to have to worry about that. Pricing-wise, for the 4 12-by-12 sheets here, you're looking at spending about $30 to $40. It's really a small price to pay to quiet down your interior, any type of driveline vibrations, or maybe quiet down a loud exhaust. So wrapping things up there, this is really going to be that much more effective than doing a DIY-type job, or throwing any type of foam, cloth, or carpeting into an area you're trying to quiet down. So that's going to wrap up my quick review of Boom Mat's vibration dampening four-sheet pack, fitting any Mustang, which can be found right here at

Boom Mats for the X Brace? Will this help with the rear seat deletion, and the X brace install for unwanted noise? I use my 2011 gt mustang as a daily and I want to do some upgrades. My concern is the sound when I take the seats out their will be a lot of noise.

    • The rear seats do absorb a significant amount of sound, and their removal will allow noise that was once absorbed by the seat, into the passenger compartment. If you plan on removing your seats, these would be a great addition to reduce the amount of road noise. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, some mats on the decklid and trunk floor will certainly help reduce the exhaust noise as well.

Hi, Can I use these for the underside of my mustang to reduce internal noise from the new exhaust I've just had fitted

    • The Boom Mat Vibration Dampening Material will work best installed on your vehicle floor under the carpet, as mounting them on the outside of the car, under the floor will cause the adhesives to deteriorate quickly.

How many sheets would I need to do the entire floor of my 2002 base with the seats and carpering pulled out for installation?

    • The Boom Mat Vibration Dampening Material come as a kit of (4) sheets measuring 12" X 12-1/2". Depending on how you cut the sheets toward the firewall and if you apply the material under the center console, the total amount of material needed will vary. We would highly recommend calculating the amount of square feet needed to determine how many sheets you will need.

Where would be the best place to locate this in a vert to reduce exhaust drone? I've seen it under the back seat, but I feel like the trunk or the rear compartment where the motor for the top is might be a better place.

    • This Boom Mat Vibration Dampening Material can suppress NVH (noise, vibration, harshness), however, where the NVH comes from will vary from vehicle to vehicle, so it would be difficult to say what area would be best.

      boom matt

This stuff works and looks great.. I'm covering my notchback trunk with this product and most of the interior... The material is easy to cut with scissors, a razor is not needed to make a custom fit.. The material is very sticky and holds its place soon as you place it down and rub it with a hand or 2.. a rolling wheel is not needed simply lay material where ever desired .. Can't wait to see how my car sounds when I install sound system... THEY ALSO SENT ME A BOOM MATT STICKER.. THANKS AM

      blessed silence

I needed to keep my back seat down for my dog to ride in my "14 mustang. this caused a Lot of road noise to come into the front. One pack of boom mat spread around on the package shelf bottom and the inside fenders made a tremendous difference I'm sure a second package would help but I'm happy with the great results that i now have

      I'm still not convinced

I have placed this product in my 2001 Ford Mustang GT around the a/c radio bezel and around the automatic transmission cover; the area with the horrible fit and finish. I still hear noise. I will know officially whether it works or not once I remove the rear seats and place it underneath. If I still hear squeaks then this product is a gimmick

I've placed the BoomMat in the drivetrain tunnel to reduce road noise and drivetrain noise. Worked well for what I needed. It's cheap and easy to install, can't go wrong!

      Quite up the Interior

It's very common to have a ton of exhaust/cabin noise with a loud exhaust. It's a good idea to throw some sort of dampener in the trunk and under the back seat. This did the trick for me!

Makes my convertible much nicer in the winter

With axlebacks, tune and air, my '08 convertible was tough with the top up in local driving...lots of low rpm vibrations and just loud without the road noise to cover it up. 2 packages of these covered the entire area under the backseat and made a big difference. If you put an exhaust on your convertible, these are almost a must have.

I had this stuff in my Crown Vic - it really cut down on the road noise. I put it under the carpet and under the door panels. It really made a difference.

      Good deal for sound deadening!

These mats are light in weight so they will stay put, great adhesive backing and can be molded easier into contours and shapes needed to fit right. I did one door already and am also going to do the truck, under seats and carpet. Great to keep tire and exhaust noise out of your cabin without adding a lot of weight to your car. I selected good rating because I think they could make them thicker for even more sound deadening.

      Boom mat

This product is good and works. However it does not come with enough. I put it under my rear seats and there were some spaces that need to be covered to reduce more noise but I didn't have enough. It's very easy and simple to apply. I only wish the product was cheaper so I could buy more of them. But overall good quality.

      Boom Mat

First time ever used something like this. Very easy to install. I just prepped the area and stuck it on there. Choose wisely as you really don't get much. Saw a lot of photos online showing people who have done their trunks or floorboards....and well, your gonna need more than one box...that's for sure. problem is very pricey. I have a noisy rear end (yeah...hahahah) so i used all four squares where the rear seat used to be. I need to buy more to finish project. Over all i am happy and what little i did use does quiet it down some. Overall, great product, pricey...but great. Just be prepared to buy a few sets.

      makes a difference.

This works great as a dampener. It's cheaper than other dampeners and does just as good of a job. This works well under the back seat of my 94 GT 'vert where the top and bottom meets. I love my exhaust, but sometimes I want to hear my girlfriend... sometimes. This is an easy install, just prepare your area, clean it and peel off the backing.

I used the Boom Mat under the rear seat of our 94 GT convertible Mustang. WOW what a difference in road and exhaust noise! Now we can have a conversation in the car without yelling at each other. Also bought the Boom spray to go along with it!!!
