Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I have with me a couple of different short antenna options for 79-09 Mustang, available in your choice of either black, or chrome. Let’s face it, the factory antenna is a major eyesore and it certainly doesn’t do your exterior styling any favors. At nearly 30” in length, it begs the question, did Ford secretly install a CB radio in my Mustang that I’m not aware of? Well, with these new short antennas in 8 and 14” lengths, you can finally rid your Mustang of that goofy factory piece, once and for all. Besides the two different length options, the short antenna is also available in your choice of a low key satin black finish, or a more flashy chrome finish. Despite being only a third of the size of the factory antenna, you shouldn’t notice any difference in your radio reception, which should hopefully alleviate any concerns you may have. Besides looking great, the short antenna literally installs in a matter of minutes, you simply unscrew your factory antenna, then screw the new short in its place, as far as working on your car goes, it doesn’t get much easier than this. While you’re in the area of the antenna, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to freshen up that stock antenna base cover, using one of these aftermarket covers available in your choice of either chrome or satin. This extremely affordable part really compliments that short antenna, and its another one of those nice little dress up items to add to your ride. So if you’re tired of seeing that ski pole attached to your front fender that Ford calls an antenna, then you have to check out one of these different short options available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

This is the easiest upgrade that makes the biggest difference. I bought a 2005 Mustang not too long ago and the car was completely bone stock and looked brand new out of the factory. I prefer the classic look of the car inside and out of that 2005 generation other than the fishing pole of an antenna it had. The interior sound system is original so I rely on the radio and a Bluetooth adapter on listening to music from my phone. I have not lost any signal by changing the antenna at all. Sounds perfect/exactly the same as the original. I live in Miami FL so there are pretty much cables and wires everywhere. Very happy and pleased with how everything turned out. When shopping around, I was unsure how the reception would be, but the only way you can find out is by testing it out yourself, and worst case scenario you can return it.Helpful (0)

Huge difference from the stock antenna! The antenna was a little bent/curved at the top. It’s not noticeable initially but it’s definitely bent. Gives the car a little character. I’m good with the part.Helpful (0)

Makes a bigger difference than you think.
I thought it wouldn't make the car look different, however the short antenna makes it look like an actual car and not an RC car with a huge antenna.Helpful (1)
Will this replace the stock antenna? I recently purchased a different short antenna from another web site and when the antenna came it had 4 different adapter screws for it and none of them had the correct threading to fit the base in my '09 GT. Getting the old antenna off is easy enough, but I want to make sure that if I get this one from American Muscle that it will screw in as easy as the factory one screwed out. Thank you.
Yes, old antenna screws out, new screws right in. No loss of reception that I've noticed. When you install, place a thin cloth or tissue between the adjustable wrench and the base of the antenna to avoid scratching the paint or scoring the base of the antenna. Tighten with slight pressure, not too much. Good product.
Has the resting issue been resolved? I guess I could add a dab of white grease to it before screwing it in but really shouldn't have to.
There should not be any rusting issues, adding anti-seize or any type of rust inhibitor is never a bad idea when installing any part.
I had purchased this quite a while ago and I am restoring my 1987 Mustang GT. I went to install it and the threads in antenna base are much bigger/thicker. Is there an adapter I can purchase, or how to I get this to fit.
The threads for this antenna should be a direct replacement. We would be unable to determine what type of adapter is required without knowing the threads in your antenna base, and confirmed the threads in your antenna are correct.
How is the reception with it being smaller?
Hi ErbStalk...I bought the 8" antena for my 2006 mustang and I don't notice any difference in reception! You should not suffer any reception loss either. Hope this helps you out!
Installed the SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna; 8-Inch on my mustang. It looks great but now I can’t seem to get very much if any reception. Any suggestions?
This is made from steel, with a satin-black finish.
Unfortunately this will not fit an '03 Mustang GT.
The SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna is flexible however due to its shorter length, it will not flex as far as the OEM antenna. We recommend removal if using an automated car wash.
This is only going to be the antenna and adapter. It does not come with the base.
We have only tested fitment of this SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna on Mustangs and we unfortunately not be able to verify its fitment on the Ford Ranger.
Hey Roger, This antenna is pretty durable and should withstand car washes no problem
