My stock brake light connecter has 5 wires coming from the back of it. The socket you guys are selling only has 3 wires. How can that be a direct replacement when there are two less wires than the stock connector?

        • The OPR Brake Light Socket would be a replacement for the bulb sockets for the brakes lights which would be a 3 wire socket with a 3157 bulb.

I'm having a problem with my 1991 GT convertible luggage rack 3rd brake light socket. Bulbs are flickering on and off, but i can't find any replacements...any advice?

        • I suggest taking a voltmeter and see how much voltage you are getting at the fuse. It may be a bad connection since it is flickering. Or it could be the connector from the socket to the bulb itself. I would check out where you're losing power before you purchase any parts.

            Socket Install 93 Mustang Foxbody

Easy to install, it only took me about 10 minutes to get everything conncted. The socket fit the tail lens perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to upgrade or if they get the base of the bulb stuck and can't get it out. I had been upgrading the standard bulbs to l.e.d. when I came about having to replace the old socket.

            Works great. No instructions

Once I figured out the wiring they work great. These replacement sockets have 3-wires as opposed to the 5-wire factory socket. A closer look at the stock wiring revealed that there are 2-brown wires, 2-black wires (ground) and 1-red/black. Cut and splice the color-matched wires together, brown/brown, black/black, so you now have 3-connections. The replacement socket wires are not color coded. Remove the plastic cover and hold the sockets next to each other. Holding the stock socket with the black wire(s) at bottom center will help match the relative position of the stock wires with the new ones. Good luck.

            Just like factory!

Replacement parts, like these, are a great way to renew your light sockets on your car. When you start having problems with bulbs staying in or making the correct contact, it's time for new sockets! I am quite happy AM carries these parts for our Mustangs.
