  • Yes. You may need to shave off some of the shaker system housing inorder to fit in certain areas but other than that it will fit with a CAI. Might want to get a new hood though!

If you would like to go over aftermarket options that will also work please feel free to call or chat in to speak with one of our mustang experts.

Can the scoop that sticks up above the hood be painted to match the car?

  • The Shaker scoop can be painted, however it will require professional preparation for paint as the scoop will naturally resist paint adhesion.

    Beautiful look

I have to say it's a beautiful upgrade if you looking to improve your 4.0 appearance, but I'm disappointed with American muscle because I paid full price for this unit and they sent me a used item thst has been hacked by another customer, but it was in pretty good conditions so I kept it and I'm happy with it, as for the money I think this unit it's over priced big time, this unit should be around $200 and not $750 but like I said if you want to improve in looks money is no object but that's just for me.

Worth it, But a few downsides.

First let me start by saying, if you're thinking about getting it, and the cost doesn't bother you, just get it right now. It's one of those mods that, other than cutting the hood, is super simple and makes one heck of a new appearance. The install instructions are so clear a child could walk you through it, even comes with a cut template for your hood and everything. There's a few downsides but none of them are super bad, the main issue I'm having is I got a throttle body spacer and now I have to figure out how to use them both, because the front bracket that holds the shaker system on uses the two bolts on the front of the throttle body. The other two little things that are a slight concern is, one, if you need to change your plugs, belt, alternator, sensors, stuff like that you have to unbolt and take off the whole thing. Second, I haven't noticed a difference on either one of my temp gages but I feel like the design of it holds in alot of Extra heat. but other than that it's honestly the one mod I'm most glad I've done to my car so far. Quick tip. When installing, when you go to bolt the two bolts back into your throttle body and the front bracket, instead of taking off your intake hose, just use a little electric tape or whatever tape to hold the bolts onto your socket, unless you have magnetic sockets, then you're all good. But like I said. If you have the money and want it, GET IT.

    Looks amazing!!!

Once I got the nerve up to cut the hood it was a piece of cake. The cutting was actually easy once I started. A hint is to punch the corners first so your drill bit wont run and scratch the paint. Then drill out the corners. Then with a 24tpi jigsaw make the cut. Once you are 2" into the cut tape behind the saw to hold the metal from flapping and chipping the paint. I would recommend buying a new blade before you cut with fine teeth, I used 24TPI and it worked great. Remember measure twice, cut once. Looks great! No performance gains what so ever, but looks awesome when you start up the car and are sitting idle. Also the duct that they provide has too many connection points so i bought a piece of heat resistant piping and used that in a single piece. It looks great !

    It turns some heads.

Installation was flawless until airbox mod. I wouldn't recommend a holesaw. Too many ribs molded in stock airbox. The wife thought it was funny when it went flying. A dremel tool worked better. It really looks great, don't hesitate to cut a hole in your hood.

    1. Installation is not bad at all considering that you are cutting the car. 2. Performance gain is nada, but I do have a CAI. Routed piping into Airaid CAI with no issues. 3. Cowl flange is too large. Cover ways too much of engine and contains heat. I cut side off and used door trim to cover edge. 4. Watch front left pulley. Way too close to cowl. 5. Looks amazing vibrating at idle or acceleration. 6. No one ever buys one and then goes oh wow I wish I hadn't. 7. Great service as always from AM.

First, anything from AM is a blast. Great service, good prices. Now on to this one. Let me sum it up in that anyone who buys one never looks at the end result and goes, yeah i wish i hadn't. Looks very very cool and adds a certain bad car look to the car. Installation is not bad though instructions leave A LOT to interpretation. You're better served looking for forums where people have done it and then follow their instructions. Was not an issue to modify for Airaid CAI. Real issue is fitment of the cowl. It says it's for a V6 but I doubt it's the 2005-2009 V6 or at least not one I've ever seen. Numerous fitments and modifications are necessary to sit the cowl satisfactorily and to clear wires and such. Modifications are definitely necessary by the front left pullies. Secondly the front right will come in contact with heat bearing parts that will melt it if left unchecked. Simply put the best course of action IMHO is to mask it off just below the flange and cut all the way around. The cowl simply does not sit comfortably around the engine and retains way too much heat for my tastes. HP increase? Please. I'm so sick of reading all these this gave me a horse and that gave me five. Until you dyno it it gave you nada. This puppy will do fractionally for you if it's all you have and you have a stock air box. A CAI will give you much more pep and bang for your buck and actually will offer more HP. All this being said it still looks cool as heck and I'm glad I bought it.

This is a great reproduction of the 69/70 style scoop. It makes my yellow stang V6 look great. Installation was simple, engine compartment looks clean. Glad I got this product.

    Overall pretty sweet

Nice product, good install instructions, but if you've modified your air intake, throttle body, or added a throttle body spacer(in my case all 3) your going to have hell installing this. Everything is designed to fit on a stock mustang, but you can make it work, although you will have to remove the spacer. looks awesome when finished.

    CDC Shaker--Hits the mark!!

I ordered this Shaker system with apprehension. There's much work involved and its time intensive, but the rewards are great. The Shaker system can be installed in the engine bay in a long afternoon. My system took an extra 2 days because the Ford Cold Air Intake required hours upon hours of cutting modifications. However, the result turned out positive. As I write this review, I still have much time in front of me prepping the hood for the jigsaw cutout. If you're good with tools, the CDC supplied template makes things easier. Do yourself a favor and head over to Sears, Lowes, etc. and purchase a good hacksaw, and blades with at least 24 TPI rating. My Sears Craftsman hacksaw has a laser marker, air blower, blader turner for corners, and speed control; costing me about $69.00. If you're spending $700.00+ on your Shaker system, spend the money on the little extras to help make sure the template cut is done properly. The Shaker system is like and 2,000 piece extreme puzzle. If you look at the whole thing you'll likely put it away. On the other hand, if you mentally break it down into small segments, the completion doesn't look as daunting. Good luck, take your time, and have fun!! My blue Mustang V6 Pony Package now looks like it can really gallop with the big boys.

the scariest part of my mustang upgrade

I was looking foward to instaling the shaker on my 09' V6. But i will say this, cutting the hole in the hood was the scariest part. I decided the easiest and safest way was to seperate the hood and the car. Then i must have done the measurements like 10 times. Then we used a drill and drilled a couple of holes. Then we took the jigsaw and cut th hole. It was extremly easy. I was very happy on how simple the intake was to install. This is than excellent product. If you want to see a picture of my shaker mines the dak red with black stripes.

    It made me cry!

I finially finished installing the Shaker! I have a few pro's and con's. Also, you can get by quicker by using a cut-off wheel to cut the longer sides. (I wish I did this part) Then use a jigsaw to cut your perfect rounded couners. FYI... cover your windows and if possible the entire car. I used a car cover for the engine compartment. YOU MUST WEAR goggles and a mask. I also used an old coat with the hood on! There will be so much steel, fiber glass, and paint flying every where! And its in a "fine mist", so be careful. I used painter's tape but I used that green automotive tape for the center line. You wouldn't believe how that center line "disapear" once you start working. SO, triple check your work. Pro: You do not need to be an expert, just take your time, measure 5 times if you have to. If it takes you 7 hours, that's fine, please do not rush. *Looks great! *Marking the hood and cutting was very easy! Con: You will find your instructions with different measurments! Its 11&1/4 inches from the rear of hood. The instructions say to revet the hood and trim ring... I could not figure it out, so... no, its not reveted. But I did improvise by using "Goop" gule. This stuff is so strong, it "sticks" to air! *The housing for the scoop is very thin plastic/composite. If you have aftermarket CCA, you will need to do some trim work (very easy to do). If you have a spacer on your, it will be too thick to allow the front of the scoop attachment to fall in. Its a TRUE ... "female dawg". I did use the screw in the back to tighten it down. *I do not think you honestly have to change the bracket for the coils. I just move the wire and it seems to work perfectly. *An aftermarket CCA bracket that holds your filter most likely will not line up with the tube from the scoop's housing. Overall, it works great and looks better in person than in pictures. Total time: about 3 hours (that's if you have to trim, figure out tools etc.)

I just received this part today. I'm building the confindence to cut my hood! Give me a few days before I post pics. The only problem I have with the unit is that most of it is some kind of thin plactic! The scoop is cast aluminum, which is great, but check your product when you receive it to see if its damaged going through the mail. I was surprised that how big this engine cover/scoop is. I rather have this than those 3M sticky ones.

    awsome addition

this is a great product. It come fully complete, with very easy instructions. I used the stock air box ,and actually feel a small improvement in throttle responce(I\'m sure due to the included highflow airfilter). If your going to have a hood scoop ,this is an awsome fully fuctional way to go.
