    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Chrome Door Sill Trim Inserts, which are available for all 2005 to 2009 Mustangs. In this quick video, we'll be talking about the styling and appearance of the Chrome Door Sill Trim Inserts as well as the material and construction. I'll top the video off with the installation, letting you know up front it'll get a very, very simple one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. The Chrome Door Sill Trim Inserts will be for any '05 to '09 Mustang owner who might be looking to get a more customized appearance for the interior of their S197. Now, for your early S197, you'd be attaching these directly on top of the factory door sill trim. Now, obviously, this gives you a more chrome, shiny appearance or a show car appearance, as some guys might call it. If you're not really a fan of the chrome, there's obviously tons of alternatives out there that are as affordable as this particular kit is. Honestly, there really isn't a whole lot to say about this particular kit. It's really all about styling and appearance here. It is gonna be a peel-and-stick application. This is definitely gonna be a more chrome, mirror-like shine appearance to your door sills. When you open up the doors, this is the first thing that's gonna smack you right in the face when you're hopping in the car. Now, obviously, it has the Mustang lettering cutouts, which are also available separately here. Now, on top of that, you just get a couple of details, a couple of chrome trim borderlines like this one here, so there is a couple of different pieces. And also, if you didn't really like some parts of the kit, since they're so separate, you can remove some, add some. Whatever you like to do, it does give you a more free range of customization with your current trim. This is obviously geared more toward the guys who are looking for the show-car-quality finish with an application that does not involve removing the factory door sill plate, to like, splice in lighting and what-not for the fancier options. This is a more straightforward, more affordable, budget-friendly way to customize it with a very simple, straightforward peel-and-stick application. Now, along with the mirror-like shine you see here, I do wanna point out that this particular kit with everything you see here is not going to work, unfortunately, with metal door sill plates. So if your Mustang came from the factory with a metal option, this is not gonna be for you. It's strictly for the plastics. As far as the pricing is concerned, I wanna mention, again, it is a more budget-friendly part, coming in right around 40 bucks. Now, since it is a least-expensive option, you are looking at an extremely simple install. It's a peel-and-stick application, so it is geared for the guys looking for the less-is-more route and not really the fancy route that would run you a little bit more money.Speaking of that install, this one is just gonna be revolved around cleaning off your factory door sill plates exactly where you're gonna be sticking the chrome trim. Now, alcohol wipes are your best bet. It also does come with a little dropper that can help you clean it with a soft, felt-like tip, definitely something you wanna use that's included in the box for you. That's really the only hardware you're gonna need here. It doesn't require any wiring. Just peel off the backing of this. Stick it into place here wherever you'd like. Obviously, it's got the pre-cut Mustang lettering, and obviously, the logos and lettering included with it, so you can take full advantage of customizing the kit however you'd like. Overall, it shouldn't take you longer than 5 to 10 minutes, which will definitely be why it gets a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter.Wrapping things up, if you're the owner of an '05 to '09 Mustang, you might be looking for a way to slightly customize the interior appearance of your early S197 with a very budget-friendly part here that's got a peel-and-stick application, avoiding any of the messy wiring, the removals, the hand tools required. This kind of alleviates all of that, making it extremely simple for the less-is-more crowd. If that sounds like you, it's the Chrome Door Sill Plate Inserts, which are available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Custom Styling. Give your mustangs interior a custom appearance with Chrome Door Sill Inserts. These bright Chrome Door Sill Inserts match the chrome accents of your pony's interior perfectly.

Easy Install. Installation is easy, simply clean the surface with the included swab and solution, peel the paper backing from the chrome trim, and insert into the recesses of the doors scuff plate. Go from stock to custom in under 15 minutes.

Application. This pair of Chrome Door Sill Trim inserts are design to fit 2005 to 2009 Mustangs. The trim inserts will

My sill plate on my 2007 Mustang is Black Plastic with a Metal Mustang insert. I would only be able to use the chrome stripes then correct? Not the Mustang letters or outline?

        • If your mustang features the cut out for the chrome stripes then, yes.

I would like to order only the chrome strips as I have the Metal Mustang insert. Are there any Black Mustang Lettering I could put into the Chrome Mustang insert?

        • At this time we do not offer the chrome strips alone, you would need to purchase the whole: SpeedForm Chrome Door Sill Trim Inserts. We do not offer any black lettering at this time.

My question wasn't really answered. My sill plates are black with the grooves for these chrome strps, BUT, I have the chrome/aluminum insert that is stamped Mustang in the center. I can ONLY use the 6 strips on each sill. Can't I just order those for less cash? Way too much for only 12 chrome look strips. Please let me order only the 12 strips! Thank you.

In the picture the interior of the car is Black. My interior is light grey. Is there an option to choose color at checkout?

        • The SpeedForm Chrome Door Sill Trim Inserts will only come in chrome and not other colors.

            Perfect fit and look!

Probably as easy an install as screwing on an oil filler cap. Of course they look awesome, and don't forget to remove the outer layer of film for the extra shine. It's one of the first things you see when you open the door and you "will" take notice. A very inexpensive mod for an impressive result. Thanks AM.

Too bad about the laser burns on the trims

Too bad about the (I believe) laser burns on each and every piece of the trims. It seems where the laser started and finished cutting out the trims it left a black burning mark. Without these marks it could have been a nice detailing addition to my 2011 base model V6. Now it's just not quite there. Disappointing really.

            Update

Update to my December 29, 2016, review i want people who are uncertain about this product to know what a great quality product this is. Almost 2 years now and they STILL LOOK LIKE DAY ONE. Don’t worry about the reviews saying they don’t stick cuz they DO. They just need to be installed correctly: clean and wipe area lightly with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and each and every one I took the extra time to COUNT TO 30 while I pressed down with my finger and applied pressure. Believe me, it’s not rocket science, it’s kindergarten stuff. And I’m a girl. The top clear protective tape I used a pair of thin pointed tweezers to remove and I did scratch a few but you can’t even tell and I’m OCD picky. Just do the rubbing alcohol and clean area and 30 second pressure and these will never move. Take the time, be patient and have fun doing it and you will be more than just rewarded for years to come!

            Door sill inserts

They look fine once you get them on, but I want expecting to have to custom fab something that's supposed to be peel and stick. It wasn't cut all they way through in multiple places and one of the letters wasn't cut out at all. Learn from my mistakes, read other people's reviews before you buy.

Looks amazing, looks like it was made this way.

I was skeptical about this trim since it looks like it wouldn't stick due to rain/dust but ive had it on there for a month now and its taken alot of rain and foot traffic and its still looking great. Image I posted is from after 1 month. I was sure to sit and clean the area multiple times with soap and water and then finished it up with alcohol to clean and dry up the rest and it fit fine. One thing to keep a eye on is the large middle [ ] trim looks like it can fit either-way but one side is slightly larger and it only fits one way. I flipped it around and it fit like a glove. Hardest part is pulling the letters out of the initial packaging trim. I recommend doing all that inside the house before taking it to the car, it was the step that took the longest. Overall it 100 worth its price tag, It really shines once you get all that protective packaging film off the trim.
