    Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Does your factory rear end just leave you spinning your wheels? Then upgrade to the same exact differential used in the Ford Racing "Boss 302 Laguna Seca" race car. This limited slip differential (lsd) uses a worm gear friction system that ensure your engine's power is transferred to the wheels for maximum traction.

    Application. This Ford Racing Boss 302 8.8" Differential will fit 2005-2014 solid axle equipped V8 Mustangs including the GT, Bullitt, BOSS and Shelby GT500. Requires 31 spline axles. Does not fit IRS applications.Application Note: 1986-2004 V8 Mustangs came factory equipped with 28 spline axles, except for 2003-2004 SVT Cobras which were 31 spline. All 2005 and newer V8 Mustangs come equipped with 31 spline axles.

    • Requires 4 ounces of CM-19546-A1 friction modifier with initial fill
    • Fits solid axle only

    Technical Note. You will need to reuse your factory 8.8” gear set, or upgrade to a new set of our 8.8" rear gears for this Limited Slip Differential. No aftermarket gears are included. For normal driving conditions we recommend you use 75W 90 rear gear oil. This will give you the same oil weight as factory. For colder temps or race use try 75w 140.

    I have a stock 05 GT with horrible gear whine starting at 2000 RPM in 4th and 5th. I want to just replace the whole stock diff and gears because I don't want to hunt for the noise. Want to buy everything I need ahead of time and drop of at my mechanic shop. What else will I need besides this diff, some gears and lube?


    • If you are combining the Ford Performance Boss 302 Torsen Differential, and a ring and pinion gear kit, we would recommend a gear installation kit, such as the one linked below, as well as the axle bearings linked below, to ensure all moving components in your rear are replaced.

    Will this diff fit an 11-14 V6? I know that it does not list the V6 in the product description but from what I gather, diffs that fit the GT's will fit the 11-14 V6 as well due to the fact that the 11-14 v6 is equiped with the same 8.8 rear end that the GT and Boss both have.

    What would be the primary reason for upgrading the OEM differential on a '14 GT (non-track pack) to the Boss 302 Torsen? Drag strip only? Auto-X? Roadcourse/track days? Is the OEM differential an inferior piece and not suitable for occasional high-performance driving?


    • the oem piece is inferior to this differential but if your not banging away on the car like some of us re you wont need it.

      Meet my new ride!

      The new differential and 3.73 gear set works great. Especially in 3rd gear and that's where I wanted more acceleration because I road race and I spend 8 of my time in 3rd. I had a great time at the Arizona No Fly Zone event on March 4, 2018 and I am looking forward to March 25th when I will be on the track at Wild Horse Pass to see how much better my lap times will be.

      Should have been my first mod

      You can't understand how much this diff improves handling until you drive a car with one installed. It makes the rear end so much more controllable and understanding of what you want it to do.

      Big Time Fix

      Ford Performance really knocked it out of the park with this one. After chewing up the two previous "stock" differentials, with this one, hit the gas and it's more like A launch, drop the hammer on the highway, and it's just GO. The vibration is gone,the chatter is gone, had my dealer do the install now it's like brand new all over again.

      Greatly improves on power handling

      This diff does a great job of improving on power handling. This allows you to be on power sooner in corner's without wasting torque on the wheel that HAS to slip because solid axles have to spin their tires as the same speed. With this Torsen diff, although the tires move at the same speed, the tire getting more resistance will have greater torque applied to it; thus power is correctly apportioned to the tire getting better grip. This is especially useful if your engine is a torque-bomb (ie, roots or positive displacement supercharger). It's not intuitive until you've composed your car, but better handling cars are more fun because you don't have to decelerate as much in turns, meaning you exit at higher speed. Exiting a corner at higher speeds means you're well into your torque apex when you're applying high throttle openings; thus you exit a corner at a moment to get maximum "torque shove." Leaving a corner at slower speed, in second gear, will leave you below the torque apex which will make you sad and hopeless. Kids think just power, adults think power and handling. Note: This diff was used in the 2013 GT500, meaning that it can't be killed with power less than 700 hp. If you mustang makes more power than that, you're not concerned with the future anyway.
