Would this fit my 03 Mach 1 Mustang? How often should be replace?

  • The Ford Motorcraft OEM Fuel Filter will certainly fit on your 2003 Mach 1. Ford recommends replacing the fuel filter every 60,000 miles.

Is the fuel filter E85 compatible? Does this filter work with e85 fuel?

  • This filter was never deigned for E85. You'll need a filter with a stainless steel element.

I have 2003 Saleen s281 Mustang will motorcraft oem fuel filter work how about the entire fuel system from fuel pump to injectors?

  • Unfortunately, Saleen didn't upgrade the fuel system or MAF like they should have for their cars. I would give the team at BAMA a call for recommendations and maybe even a tune to help pull it all together for you.

    American Muscle comes through again

I laid under my car pulling with all my might for quite some time, as the Haynes manual just says to "pull the gas lines off the filter"... it was thanks to the video on this site that I finally realized that there was a such thing as a "fuel line disconnect tool". Once I purchased one, the replacement was a breeze! Thanks again AM!

Don't forget the 5/16 fuel line disconnect tool.

The filter seems a little small for my bracket but it works. Without the disconnect tool it seems nearly impossible to get the fuel lines off. But with the disconnect tool you need to grip the tool and the fuel line together in one hand, while holding the fuel filter in place with your other hand then pull the line off one side at a time. The video does not really mention how to do this.

    Fuel Filter replacement

This was very helpful. I own my first Ford since '72 and I was not sure how to remove lines from filter. Video showed how and what tools needed to accomplish this task. Thanks!

Fast shipping, good quality product that was easy to install, even first time, with the video provided by AM. Buy a quick disconnect tool for the fuel lines. they are cheap and make the job much easier

A must upgrade for any car!

This a great upgrade for any Mustang. I had slight misfire and hesitation issues, especially at WOT before and after my Bama tune. My car had 100k on it and the filter was NEVER changed. I did the fuel filter and spark plugs, and the car runs like a dream now. Worth every penny, and a good peace of mind to know that have a Genuine Ford filter in my system!

    Direct Replacement

My 04 GT had 216k and she's still running strong. I figured i'd change the filter being that it was about 50k that it hasn't been changed. It came fast, packaged well with original Ford Motorcraft packaging. For everybody that might be intimidated by the job trust me it's not difficult at all. My best suggestion being that these engines don't come with a fuel pressure relief valve (that i know of) and i personally don't want to remove and fuse to let the car die, just let the car sit overnight and do the job in the morning. Most of the pressure gets relieved and very little leaks out from the lines. Word of caution, PLEASE use safety glasses because the filter itself carries a lot of fuel, dirty at that. As for the tools go to pep boys or any auto parts store and purchase the brand OEM and get the 4 or 5 size fuel removal tools. Theyre little colored circles. Basically the job was a breeze. The tool fitting you have to use is the baby blue one. That's what worked. Clip that sucker on the lines and push that thing in. Remember the FILTER leaks a lot, very little from the lines. Place the new filter as oriented put the lines back on each end until you hear a click and tighten the hose clamp. It's literally the easiest DIY job you can do. Before you start the car pump the fuel a couple of times but turning the ignition to accessory then back off. It's just to prime the fuel pump and fill the new filter. You'll hear a "hollow" sound on the first pump. Don't be scared thats the fuel quickly filling the filter. I'd start the car with a good 3 primes then start it. Finished. Oh and have fun smelling like fuel for a bit lol. Good luck

Good Replacement Part for your Tune-Up

I bought this for my high-mileage Mustang, considering the original was never replaced. Definitely contributed to my car running smoother afterwards. Just make sure you install the new one in the correct direction!!

    Nothing Beats OEM maintenance parts

I was getting some spark know after a BAMA tune. I had good fuel pressures but right around 4k RPM under load I could hear a little knock. My plugs and coils were fine, and I had just installed FRPP 24#/hr injectors. Turns out my filter was original to the car and keeping my engine from getting enough fuel volume under load, causing me to lean out a little and exhibit knock. This is easy to get to, easy to install, and just could save your motor. If you don't know when the last time your fuel filter was replaced, buy this now.

    It Works !

If the part were more accessible on the car this part could be changed more and the crud that is in the gasoline would not get to the engine as quickly. In this area "...may contain up to 10 ethanol." usually runs a little higher, and the moisture in the air can cause problems quicker than warm, dry, climates, and/or pure gasoline without corn in it. First 15 years of engine life on real gas, filter looked new when I replaced it....last two years and the filter looks like it needed changing. Go figure..!!
