Would this fit my 03 Mach 1 Mustang? How often should be replace?

    • The Ford Motorcraft OEM Fuel Filter will certainly fit on your 2003 Mach 1. Ford recommends replacing the fuel filter every 60,000 miles.

Is the fuel filter E85 compatible? Does this filter work with e85 fuel?

    need4speed

    • This filter was never deigned for E85. You'll need a filter with a stainless steel element.

I have 2003 Saleen s281 Mustang will motorcraft oem fuel filter work how about the entire fuel system from fuel pump to injectors?

    xvicx

    • Unfortunately, Saleen didn't upgrade the fuel system or MAF like they should have for their cars. I would give the team at BAMA a call for recommendations and maybe even a tune to help pull it all together for you.

      Curiosity

Upon removal of your current filter, drain the residual inlet fuel into a glass beaker and inspect the particulate. Do it again after having used a Genuine Ford Parts filter. You'll be surprised and convinced of Ford Parts quality and; it might change your mind about where you purchase your gasoline.

      Good part, installing sucks

for such a basic piece to replace, prepare to be up to your armpits in gasoline and have some sort of Jerry can with you. car sounds better and after seeing what the gas looks like coming out of the filter, I’m glad I did it!

      It Works !

If the part were more accessible on the car this part could be changed more and the crud that is in the gasoline would not get to the engine as quickly. In this area "...may contain up to 10 ethanol." usually runs a little higher, and the moisture in the air can cause problems quicker than warm, dry, climates, and/or pure gasoline without corn in it. First 15 years of engine life on real gas, filter looked new when I replaced it....last two years and the filter looks like it needed changing. Go figure..!!

      Geulnuinely impressed

My mustang sat for years with just 60,000 miles on her. I never even thought to replace the filter until I grazed past it on a forum. Honestly wish I would have do one it first thing. It's cheap, super easy to install, and I've regained so much mpg. Thanks AM!

      Perfect and Simple

Perfect fit and easy installation. Would recommend buying the line fittings tool from your local auto parts store for simple installation to release the clips inside the fuel lines.

Clean system = happy car :)

This product is great and affordable. If you want to make sure your system is cleaner than the previous owner kept it grab one of these, your going to need a fuel line disconnect tool or you can easily makeshift one like I did out of a sharpie cap. im sure you can find a video on youtube on how... I found it was super easy to put in you just need to find it. I also like to put BG 44k fuel system cleaner additive in my tank also.

      Exactly as described

Make sure you have the correct quick disconnect tools before starting. I recommend getting a quick disconnect kit at a local autoparts store. The filter is exactly as described and its in original ford packaging. My old filter was really really dirty so for the price it certianly is worth the buy!

      Well worth it!

I decided to replace the fuel filter just 'cause it was cheap and might improve MPGs. This was a super easy install, all of about 15-20 minutes (after letting the car sit overnight). I'm not a novice with mechanic work, but this was my first fuel filter change. It seems to have helped the MPGs a little and it definitely runs better (didn't even realize it actually ran a little rough before). The gas in the old filter came out black, when I cut the filter open, the insides were horrid! If you haven't replaced your fuel filter, DO IT!! AM is great on shipping, and you can't beat OEM on this part.

      Direct Replacement

My 04 GT had 216k and she's still running strong. I figured i'd change the filter being that it was about 50k that it hasn't been changed. It came fast, packaged well with original Ford Motorcraft packaging. For everybody that might be intimidated by the job trust me it's not difficult at all. My best suggestion being that these engines don't come with a fuel pressure relief valve (that i know of) and i personally don't want to remove and fuse to let the car die, just let the car sit overnight and do the job in the morning. Most of the pressure gets relieved and very little leaks out from the lines. Word of caution, PLEASE use safety glasses because the filter itself carries a lot of fuel, dirty at that. As for the tools go to pep boys or any auto parts store and purchase the brand OEM and get the 4 or 5 size fuel removal tools. Theyre little colored circles. Basically the job was a breeze. The tool fitting you have to use is the baby blue one. That's what worked. Clip that sucker on the lines and push that thing in. Remember the FILTER leaks a lot, very little from the lines. Place the new filter as oriented put the lines back on each end until you hear a click and tighten the hose clamp. It's literally the easiest DIY job you can do. Before you start the car pump the fuel a couple of times but turning the ignition to accessory then back off. It's just to prime the fuel pump and fill the new filter. You'll hear a "hollow" sound on the first pump. Don't be scared thats the fuel quickly filling the filter. I'd start the car with a good 3 primes then start it. Finished. Oh and have fun smelling like fuel for a bit lol. Good luck
