Do the clips need to be removed and switched in order for the mud flaps to clip onto the fenders?

  • In order to install the Ford GT500 Rear Splash Guards, the retaining screws/clips need to be removed and then reinstalled to hold the splash guards in place. Please see our installation guide for a detailed example on how this is done! Here is the link to the guide: https://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-rear-splash-guard-pair-1014-cust-install.html

Review from Ford GT500 Rear Splash Guard - Driver Side (10-14 All)

Great Looking And Practical Add On

Two changes I considered for my Mustang were front and rear splash guards, and they needed installing all at once to look correct, but attaching the rear guards with my wheels on was difficult. But since I was also installing caliper covers with all four wheels off, I added my four splash guards at the same time.   I ordered Speedform No-Drill Splash Guards - Front Pair (10-14 All), Item# 73076, MPN# 73036, and Ford GT500 Rear Splash Guard - Pair (10-14 All), Item# 387474, MPN# DR3Z-6328371-AA. This second item is an OEM Ford part. Although the fronts and rears were made by different manufacturers, they look appropriate on my car. These parts are black plastic, but they install differently. The fronts may be accessed without removing the wheels. There are two removable clips to carefully pry out. Clean the contact area. Align each guard and replace the push pins. For the rear guards, the space between the back of the wheels and the three attaching fender screws that are removed on each side is almost impossible to reach. It is easier to pull the wheel off first and then loosen the screws, although this could be done with a short screwdriver. With my rims off for my caliper covers installation, accessing all four areas was easy, and installing my four splash guards was simple!  If your Mustang is a daily driver, as mine is, and you also show it, then adding splash guards is a worthwhile investment. They keep much of the debris and small rocks from kicking onto your quarter panels. These are nice looking trim pieces that add another black accent to my Sterling Grey paint. Although not intended as an appearance item, they do add to the look of our Mustangs.

    Amazing rear look

Look great, the fit is a little bit off like a few centimeters but it's not anything that's really noticeable unless someone is just look for it, up close. Easy install, granted taking off the tires is a pain but hey it is what is.

Review from Ford GT500 Rear Splash Guard - Passenger Side (10-14 All)

    Easy install with nice results

Easy unbolt install and fitment is great! Little pricey for what it is. I wouldn't say it stops all the stuff from the road getting on the side panel but it surely reduces it. Overall, worth it!

Expensive but worth it if your Mustang is new!

We put my 2011 Mustang GT on the jack stands, removed the wheels, cleaned, removed the 3 screws and the rest was plug and play. These should have come on the car from the factory. I park on crushed concrete at work so I had to get these. My 2011 GT only has 33K miles on it so I will be getting my money out of them, They are on the expensive side but for paint protection you can't argue the price.

    Great splash guard

These should have come stock with all Mustangs, period! I gave this a higher rating than the front splash guards only because this is an OEM Ford product and it feels like it. The plastic is much harder than the aftermarket front ones, and it looks better, too. There's absolutely no need to remove your tire when doing this; just make sure you've got a small little wratcheting 90 degree screwdriver and you'll have no problem whatsoever. Looks better, and will definitely help protect the body!

    Does what it says

Basically just what it says, super easy install and a pretty good coverage area, enough to stop most rocks from hitting the rockers. A little too much for just two pieces of plastic though.

This is a must have for anyone with the Boss/GT500 rear valance. Helps keep the spray and road grime (or rubber ;) ) off the rear bumper, they just plain look good on there too....

    Good product.

The rear mud flaps don't fit 100 correctly on the 2010-2012, the reason being is that the rear bumper a little different in shape, but it's not a big enough difference to worry about, I personally think it's overpriced considering that all you're getting is 2 pieces of plastic, but I'd rather buy these than pay for a new paint job. These differ slightly front the front flaps that am offers, but once again, it's a mold difference and if your more than 6 inches away you can hardly tell the difference. Overall it's a good product, and will keep the dirt and rocks off your car for sure.

    terrific look

Fitment is on point. They do the job with keeping stuff off the bumper, but a little expensive for pieces of plastic. I managed to install without taking the tires off, just make sure you have a short screwdriver on hand!

    GT 500 Splash Guards

I ordered these splash guards to try to protect the rear quarter panels from stone damage. They were very easy to install but be sure to remove the wheel so that you have room in the wheel well for your hand and a screw driver. Once the wheel was removed the splash guard snaps right into place. I did ensure that I thoroughly washed the area under where the splash guard would be installed as once the wheel is reinstalled you won't be able to clean under the splash guard. So far I'm very pleased with its function and it looks good on my Ruby Red Mustang.

Shipping was fast and installation took maybe 30 minutes. I have 2011 GT and this was the last piece of the puzzle to complete my 2014 GT rear end conversion. I love the look and especially the fact that there isnt rocks flying at my bumper and chipping it. Thanks AM!

    Great

I like these alot more than i thought i would. All you have to do is remove the tire, undo the 3 screws (there might be easier ways i just worked with what i had), slide on the splash guard with the clip, and then screw back in the screws, and put back on your tire. very easy.
