In doubt? The quality speaks for itself!
This is a really well thought out intake and I think, the best buy for an 05-09 V6 CAI. Starting with cosmetics, you get the Ford Racing logo in your engine bay - which looks great! The same tray that looks so good with the logo also has a rubber lip around the top that seals with the hood, so hot air from your engine compartment isn't sucked in. You're really getting cold air from the outside. That alone places this kit head and shoulders above the rest of the "filter on stick" intakes that will have you sucking up hot air from the engine bay.
The filter itself is paper-based (though not flimsy at all!) and you have to replace it every so often, which I initially questioned in a world of washable filters. I read somewhere though that paper filters finer than the washable kind of filters at the cost of airflow. Don't worry about airflow with this intake though - it allows so much more than stock that you need a new tune - so it really adds power.
I'd recommend not buying the Ford tuner and instead going with one of the Bama-backed tuners for sale here. It's my understanding that Ford won't re-tune for anything else you might want to do for your car, but any of the tuners for sale here come with free custom tunes for life. Can't beat that!
My only quibble about this intake is in terms of fitment. The tray itself nestles nicely over the wheel well, and has bolt holes cut out in just the right places for it, however one of the bolts that Ford ships with it doesn't quite work for cars equipped with ABS (so basically every car). The ABS system mounting bracket has a bolt and retainer clip going through a hole in the front of the car, where you are supposed to bolt the front of this intake down. The double-sided bolt that Ford supplies to replace the ABS bolt (picture a regular bolt, but with an additional threaded length coming out what would have been the top) is too narrow to work with the ABS mounting bracket. You can make it all work though if you just buy some 10mm nuts, stick the double-threaded bolt through the ABS mounting bracket, and put one of the nuts on the bottom to secure the ABS bracket. Then you can stick the intake down over the top of the bolt, and use another nut to hold it in place. It sounds way more complicated than it is.
