Original Performance Pack Equipment. Does your Mustang's factory equipped limited slip differential (LSD) leave you spinning your wheels? The stock LSD is fine for the daily driver and boulevard cruiser, but not the hard driving performance enthusiast. When you upgrade to a Ford Racing Limited Slip T2R Torsen Differential you will experience a monumental improvement in both traction and handling performance. This Ford Racing Torsen Differential is the same exact one that is found as standard equipment on Performance Pack GT Mustangs, making it ideal for performance applications.

Full-Time Torque-Sensing, Torque-Biasing. Ford Racing's T-2R Torsen 8.8" differential uses a worm gear friction system that features full-time torque-sensing and torque-biasing for maximize performance. Torque Sensing keeps power going to the ground during changing traction conditions, while Torque Bias factors how much torque the differential can send to the wheels depending on the available traction. This Torsen design is far superior to standard limited-slip differentials making it perfect for street, auto-crossing, and road racing.

Required Upgrade. This Ford Racing IRS Torsen Differential was specifically engineered for use with Ford Racing Super 8.8" IRS Gear and Pinion Sets, including 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, and 4.09 gear ratios. Sold separately. This Torsen Differential is not for use with 3.15 gears.

Application. This Ford Racing 8.8" Limited Slip T2R Torsen Differential is designed to be a direct fit upgrade replacement for 2015 to 2017 V6, EcoBoost and GT Mustangs equipped with independent rear suspensions (IRS) and requires the use of 34 spline axles.

Technical Note. 4-ounces of CM-19546-A1 friction modifier will be required on the initial fill.

I have a new 2017 Mustang v6 with the 3.1 gears. I want to upgrade to 3.73 gears. Besides the gears, what differential and swap kit do I need? Thanks.

MichaelH

  • You would need this Ford Performance T2R Torsen Differential to make the 3.73 gears work in your mustang as 3.73s are not compatible with your current differential .

I have a PP 2017 European Mustang EcoBoost with automatic transmission, a trac-lok differential and 3.55 rear gear ratio. Is this all I need in order to switch to a Torsen differential, while maintaining the same gears ratio? Also, will this work on the PP European EcoBoost? It seems that you do not ship to Europe. Does this mean that it is not compatible with the European models?

Need some help.. I have a roush powered 16 s550 with 3.73 gears, performance pack. When going thru the 1/4 I am in fifth gear which, I wanna be in 4th. I was reading that I should have 3.31. I do not see them on the site and would you recommend that combo? DO you sell a finished rear with these gears so I can swap the entire unit? The stock unit with 3.31 from the factory did they have this torsen diff in them?

RobertW

  • It would be hard to judge exactly what gear you would be in with that rear end configuration without trial and error, a 3.31 would definitely slow down your acceleration effectively ending up being with a car in lower gear. Unfortunately, we do not carry the 3.31 at this time, we do carry the 3.55 rear end gear in a complete loaded unit read for swap item 389949. The stock rear ends came with the TRAC LOK rear differential, the gt350 and 350r came with the torsen rears as they are torque sensing and torque biasing.

  • The Ford Performance T2R Torsen Differential is designed to work with stock axles. This will require Ford Performance gears in order to install.

I have a 2015 Mustang with the torsion differential (performance package)I had the dealer change the fluid (XY-75w85-QL) and added the XL-3 additive. Driving home I noticed a whine at ~75 mile/hour by adding this additive could cause this whine noise?

Bert

  • Hello! It is not likely that the additive is causing the whine you're hearing. We recommend taking the car back to the dealership and having them diagnose the issue.

What is the actual torque bias ratio?

6Bolt

  • Unfortunately we do not have that information, I will recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for actual torque bias ratio.
