Peace of Mind. When replacing your clutch you have two options, resurfacing your old stock flywheel, or getting a brand new flywheel. A new flywheel is a much better choice than resurfacing, as the flywheel will dictate how well your clutch will perform, as well as how long it will last.

Cast for Strength. This Ford Racing Flywheel is cast from nodular iron for extra strength and features a ring gear of 164 teeth, as well as a six bolt pattern. This flywheel is the perfect companion to your new Ford Racing Clutch.

Application. This Ford Racing Nodular Iron 0oz Flywheel fits the 1996-1998 GT Mustangs with a six bolt main and a 10.5" clutch only.

Does this need to be turned or is it ready to go? Some flywheels require turning even when new. Thanks

    • This Ford Performance Nodular Iron Flywheel is ready to go out-of-the-box. It will not require any resurfacing.

Will this flywheel pair with an Exedy Mach 500 clutch?

    DanielR

    • This flywheel will work with the Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 clutch however it is not the best fit for that clutch. When it comes to clutches and flywheels, my personal recommendation is to always match brands. With that being said, I would advise purchasing the Exedy lightweight racing flywheel item #62511.

      A little disappointed

Dowel pins rubbed through the box they were shipped in and 2 of them were then missing. Glad I also ordered the bolt and dowel pin kit! When I took it in for balancing they thought the finish looked rough. But it was exactly what I needed at a great price!

      Top Notch!

Great quality and built to last. Decided to change out my clutch and use the Ford flywheel over resurfacing. Definitely worth it!

      Great!

I was replacing my transmission already so I bought a new clutch and my old flywheel was pretty burnt up, so I bought a new one. Everything lined up perfectly and my car feels great with everything new installed!

Work the way it is should

Replaced the spec-billet-steel-flywheel with this after 2 piece failure on the Spec design. A little snug fit but works well and priced right.

      Ford Performance Nodular Iron Flywheel

I had this installed at a shop, but they told me that they had no problems installing the Flywheel it matched right up as the stock one. As far me driving on with it, it feels great clutch pedal is a little bit softer now and it grabs better than stock.

Ford Racing Nodular Iron Flywheel - 6 Bolt

Looks identical to the factory flywheel. The pressure plate alignment dowels are pre-installed on the flywheel, and will accept the factory bolts for the pressure plate. Great part, even better price. I did not weigh the flywheels but they felt the same.

Very good price and perfect fit on 96 mustang gt

Replaced tranny and clutch so while I was in there I replaced the flywheel that had been in there for 400,000 miles and just sanded every time clutch was replaced. Well paid to get it turned and ended up losing money cause the hot spots on it were higher up than the rest of the flywheel. So I got this one for a good price and it worked perfectly. But no matter how it looks it will only go on one way so remember that cause I thought the bolt pattern was wrong for a minute

Best option vs. resurfacing flywheel. Why resurface to save a few dollars when a new one isn't much more.

      piece of cake

This is going on a new engine so I didn't have to put it on in the car. I had previously balanced the engine so I had the flywheel balanced separately. The shop commented that it took very little to bring it in, less than some billet wheels they have done. Since I was going from automatic to standard I bought new flywheel bolts and new clutch bolts. The flywheel already had the pins in it so that was one less thing I had to come up with. In the past I have used nodular wheels on some pretty stout FEs and have never had a problem with failure, so, I am fairly confident I won't have a problem on a basically stock 4.6.

      Flywheel

Once again AM makes it possible to own a 98 mustang gt manual trans. Literally no auto shop or junkyard had a flywheel for a manual. They could order used ones for $160 of course AM had the stock style ford racing for $140, so far so good replaced my clutch and all that at the same time, feels better than before and I got it in 2 days (michigan). My old flywheel had been machined to much already. I was confused if this flywheel was meant for stock hp setups but a call to AM cleared that up quick. I've bought a lot from this website and will continue to do so, thanks AM
