    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. This video's designed to show you everything you need to know about the TPMS sensors in your 2015 and up Mustang, why you need them, how to order them, and how to sync them up to your ride. For those of who don't know, TPMS stands for tire pressure monitoring system, and it's something that was introduced on all cars in 2007. Now, the actual sensor itself is located on your valve stem. The sole purpose of this system and the sensor itself is to alert you, the driver, when tire pressures reach unsafe levels. Why do you need them? Well, if you purchase brand new after-market wheels and tires and you do not get the sensors installed, you will trigger a warning light on the dashboard. And depending on your state's laws, it might casue you to fail your local inspection. So that covers the what and the why. Now let's talk about how you order them. It's actually pretty simple. If you order any of our pre-built tire and wheel combo kits here at AmericanMuscle.com, or even the single wheel by themselves, you do get the option of either purchasing the TPMS sensors or the optional tool here from a dropdown menu. Now, one thing that is worth pointing out, if you have this tool from a previous generation Mustang or previous set of wheels, you do not need to order another one as it is universal. To start the syncing process with your 2015 and up Mustang, you're going to need the tool I just talked about along with your key fob. With the S197 you use the actual key to start the syncing process. But since the 2015 and up Mustangs utilize a start/stop button we'll use that instead. Before getting started, make sure your cell phone is turned off and that you're at least 20 feet from other vehicles, otherwise you might interfere with the syncing process. To start, press the brake pedal and then release it. After that, press the start/stop button three times, and on the third time, leave the car in the start or accessory-on position. Press the brake pedal again and release it. Repeat the process of hitting the start/stop button three times. On the third and final time, the car's horn should sound, letting you know you can start the syncing process. Leave the car in the start or accessory-on position. At this point, follow the directions on the dash. It will tell you what tire to train, starting with the front left or driver side tire. You'll need to aim the syncing tool at the valve stem making sure the arrow on the tool is aligned with the valve stem itself. Hold the green button down and wait for the horn to honk. This means the tire has been synced to your ride properly. Repeat that step for the right-front, right-rear and finally the left-rear. If you forget the order, just look at the display in the gauge cluster. It will tell you what tire to sync next. If everything is successful, you should see "training complete" on the dashboard, letting you know your TPMS sensors are functioning properly. As always, if you have any more questions about this process or need additional help, feel free to reach out to a Mustang expert anytime.

Turns Off Dash Light. Your S550 Mustang's Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts you when the pressure drops to an unsafe limit. This a great safety feature, but if you plan on upgrading to a new set of rims you will need to install a set of sensors in your new wheels, if not you will have an annoying dash light constantly reminding you that your sensors are missing. This Ford Racing TPMS Sensors and Activation Tool Kit makes it possible to install new sensors into your new rims and sync them to your cars computer - eliminating that annoying dash light.

TPMS Transmitter Tool. The Ford Racing TPMS Transmitter is used to sync the new sensors to your cars computer after you have installed them onto your S550 Mustang. You simply point the transmitter at the wheel listen for the cars horn and move to the next tire - it is that easy.

Kit Contents. This Ford Racing TPMS Kit comes complete for use on four wheels and includes 4 Stem-Mounted TPMS Sensors and 1 TPMS Transmitter Tool. This kit makes it easy to switch between your stock rims and aftermarket rims at will. The TPMS Transmitter Tool can be purchased separately if you already have your sensors.

Important Tire Rotation Note. When rotating tires that are equipped with TPMS sensors, it is important to reuse the TPMS Transmitter Tool to recalibrate the sensors. By rotating your tires, you are changing the physical location of the sensors and your car's computer will need to update to be aware of this location change. Failure to do so will result in inaccurate and incorrect low tire pressure monitoring.

I bought a set of 2017 Ford performance package wheels with factory TPMS sensors, can I pair them with my 2011 Mustang GT? or what should I do? Thanks!

    • The Ford Performance TPMS Sensors and Activation Tool Kit, and equivalent stock sensors will only work for 15+ Mustangs. The correct sensors will be required to for your Mustang to detect them.

Will this work for Euro version 2017 Mustang GT Premium?

    • The Ford Performance TPMS Sensors and Activation Tool Kit has not been tested on non US/Canadian Mustangs. We are unable to confirm fitment for European, Asian, or other export models as we have no way to test these.

i bought a GT California special 2 months ago. car came modded already has 19 in MMD wheel with pilot super sport tires 285's in the front and 305' in the back after market suspension and full exhaust and when i drove off the lot my tire pressure light came on . i went back the next day to try to get the light fixed and they told me there was nothing they can do about it and i was very upset cause i just spent 30,000 dollars. just my luck . so the two questions i have is how do i know how much tire pressure i should have in the tires since there bigger rims and tires .and 2nd would these ford performance tpms sensors fix my light problem .

    • Tire pressure should remain the same as the OEM wheel/tire kit to retain the correct tire load rating and handling characteristics. Unfortunately it is hard to tell if the Ford Performance TPMS Sensors and Activation Tool Kit would correct the TPMS light issues as we do not know what is causing this. If a sensor has failed, this will correct the issue, however if all sensors are working properly, and ther fault lies elsewhere, then this will not correct the issue.

I purchased the Shelby wheel and tire kits with Michelin tires for my 2017, How do I know what PSI to fill the tires to? Do I use what is recommended on the door of the car which would be for the stock tires. The new tires simply say do not exceed 52 PSI. The tires I received came filled to 35 PSI. How do I determine the correct PSI for these new tires?

    • We recommend following the recommended tire pressures on the door jamb for the optimal performance and longevity of the tires. You can adjust your preferred tire pressure around your driving habits, however, this could cause an abnormal wear in the tires.

      Solves all your problems

Follow the instructions and you can rotate your tires, if you don’t have wedged widths or install a separate set for the track and have your tire pressure monitored

Tire sensors worked flawlessly easy to install and program. It has only been a month or two so little too early to tell on their longevity but so far so good!

Cant go wrong with OEM sensors

Had these installed on my new summer tires/wheels. No issues at all. Syncing the new sensors was a breeze, and the transmitter tool is a must have if you have two sets of wheels.

      Great Sensors...

I had to purchase these TPMS Sensors as alternatives to the sensors that get installed in the AM Wheel and Tire Kits... The sensors that came with the Wheel and Tire Kit kept dropping connection to the cars system every single day (TPMS Sensor Failure). These Ford Performance Sensors have not dropped once since I had them installed a few weeks ago. Good product and I recommend them above all others.

      TPMS

FORD OEM tpms worked flawless when installed on my Velgen VMB8 and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I didn’t need to use the activation tool, because low pressure light never came on. Some people have had too, I got lucky and didn’t. I would only recommend using OEM, less of a hassle.

Hard to find OEM TPMS units

Don’t buy cheap imitations from eBay when you can have Ford OEM units with the encoding tool. If you pay $20/wheel mount and balance you won’t want them to fail or be sub standard quality. Ford Performance had this items on back order, so I had to find them in stock at American Muscle.
