is there a benefit over choosing driver side over passenger side first time owning a mustang or v8 in general noob here learning still lol

    • The JLT V3.0 Black Oil Separator is primarily only needed for the passenger side because it experiences crank case pressure and oil. The driver side is less susceptible in transitioning oil to the intake as it mostly relieves crank case pressure without significant amounts of oil.

Installed this a few thousand miles ago. Still not a drop of oil in it. What's wrong?

    • Assuming proper installation, there may not be an issue with your oil catch can. It will take time for oil to collect in the catch can. The PCV valve allows air pressure to escape which creates an oil mist (a combination of air and oil). This is normally rerouted back to the combustion chamber, which can cause build up on your intake valves and pistons. The oil catch can re-routes the oil mist, catches it in the catch can filter and sends the clean air back to the crankcase. It is recommended that you check the can after 1,000 miles of use to get an idea of how quickly it is filling up. Typically 5,000-7,000 miles are driven before needing to empty it.

Which side helps the best for controlling oil carry over into the engine? The side that has the vacuum from the intake to pcv valve, or the side that is hooked into the intake tube.

    • This would be best on the side with the vacuum from the intake to the pcv valve.

Why is this considered non-CARB compliant? It doesn't make any sense. If someone could help me out that would be great.

    • The JLT V3.0 Black Oil Separator is not CARB compliant as it is intended for off road use only.

      Works good, Looks good

Works as advertised. Had to make a custom bracket to move it a little to the left to clear the procharger, but other than that, it works well and looks good too.

      Not just a gimmect

I had the driver side one and after 500miles, I had a half ounce of oil in it. So I just bought the passenger side at AM 10th Car Show! Great Show by the way!

I agree with the reviewer who stated bad instructions, yes the instructions have blurry black and white pictures. I guess the engineers was lazy that day and gave the interns something to do. I see them saying hay all these pictures are blurry and the intern, blowing his breath saying my bad, while texting someone about plans tonight. I drove it 2000 miles already and my catch can is.......STILL EMPTY. But it does smell like oil so I know the oil vapor is going just not the oil yet. I would like to do another review update around my first oil change which is in 6000 miles from now. But this system does not work like that hint hint..... RECOMENDATION: Buy it from people who I know who do have it and the oil container fills up they swear by it. If your like me and you have nothing in it, at least you got piece of mind that oil is not making its way into your air intake and making throttle flaps stick.

      Good product, bad instructions

I purchased this product for the driver side of my car. The product itself is fine but the instructions are another story. I'll give an example, the second step reads as such: "Remove the stock hard hose". Nothing about where said hose is, just that I need to find a hose and remove it. It includes pictures but there's only 4 of them and they're all in black and white and blurry. I tried installing it where it is on the picture on this page but that's for the passenger side and there were no driver side pictures. Finally after 2 hours of poking around and trying various spots my friend and I happened to get it right, after that install was a breeze. It also tells you to use various size fittings that it included but none of the fittings are marked and you don't need all of them, some are for for 99/01 and some are for 03/04 Cobras. Good product, bad instructions.

      Works Great

Really catches alot of oil, crazy to think that without the oil separater all of it would get sucked into the blower. So really a nice tool to have!!
