As air gets compressed above it's natural state, there is a significant rise in temperature as more air molecules occupy given volume increasing it's density. This is a common occurrence with forced induction applications and a huge issue to car manufacturers and car tuners alike. Hotter charged air is not only less dense than cooler air, making less power. Hotter air also increases the chances of the engine pre-igniting or "detonating" as it is closer to flash-point. Not to mention turbo-chargers use exhaust gasses making the charge air even hotter.
