Improved Handling. Upgrade the IRS Rear Suspension in your 1999-2004 SVT Cobra with the Maximum Motorsports Basics IRS Rear Grip Package. This kit will help reduce that dreaded wheel hop and improve the handling and performance of your IRS equipped 4V Mustang.

Complete Kit. This Rear IRS Basics Grip Package comes with everything necessary for a complete replacement of those stock, worn out upper and lower control arm bushings. Stainless steel custom fit shims, Delrin bushings, zinc-plated steel upper crush sleeves, thick-walled hard anodized lower crush sleeves and installation hardware are all included. Bushing removal tools and tab straightening tools are also included to assist in making installation a breeze.

Delrin Bushings. Upgrading to Delrin Bushings will significantly reduce deflection, which will improve the handling of your Cobra and significantly reduce wheel hop. Soft, stock rubber bushings are the main culprit for wheel hop from the independent rear of your Cobra, so eliminate those inferior rubber bushings and upgrade to some high quality Delrin replacements.

Application. This Maximum Motorsports Basics IRS Rear Grip Package is specifically designed to fit 1999-2004 IRS equipped Cobra Mustangs.

    Easier than it looks.

    Upon receipt, I thought, "Is this all I get for $500, some plastic rounds and washers?" Nevertheless, I went to work, and I gotta tell you, the guys at MM write great install directions. All of the tools included worked well except the Upper control-arm bushing removal tool. The bushing was in so tight that the tool collapsed while using it to remove the 2nd bushing - I had to pay (mercy) to have the last 2 bushings removed. I suggest you heat-up the control arm before removing. As stated, the directions were spot-on. I was able to remove the rubber, front Diff bushings with my hand, so you likely should not buy the Diff Bushing removal tool as I did. I added a KENNY BROWN (KB) Differential support brace and KB aluminum (AL) bushings for the front two and the MM AL bushing for the rear. The result: NO WHEEL HOP from a 3K RPM launch using a new Motive 3.90 gear. I do have some gear whine and it is multiplied by the AL Diff bushings. In addition, combined with HandR red race springs and Koni Yellow shocks and struts, the ride is smoother and stiffer with less NVH than OEM. However, if I ever replace these MM Delrin Bushings I will use the Full Tilt Boogie bushings because they can be lubricated for even more free suspension movement.
