The carbon fiber mirror covers here from MMD are a premium way to add some really sharp styling to an often forgotten about area of your 2015 and newer Mustang. Now, the covers will be made from 100% genuine carbon fiber and finished off in a beautiful gloss clear coat, and, by the way, are designed to fit the S550 mirrors equipped with factory turn signals. Now, price point for the pair is going to hover right around 200 bucks while the peel-and-stick 3M job will get a very soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and take, I would say, a few minutes of your time to knock out from start to finish. But hang with me for a bit, guys, and I'll walk you through that job later in the video. So, this is going to be a mod for the owners who really dig what carbon fiber adds from an appearance perspective and don't mind spending a little bit extra to get some of that added carbon bling to the mirrors of your S550. Now, I do want to point out that these particular options will be for premium package owners out there whose mirrors are equipped with those mirror-mounted turn signals. Now, if you don't have these signals on the mirrors of your 2015 and up Mustang, no worries, MMD does also offer them here on the site under the item number 393723, and that's going to be without the mirror-mounted turn signals, of course. So if you're a base owner, check those out if you really dig the styling. But talking a little bit more about the covers themselves here, again, 100% authentic carbon fiber weave is what you should expect molded to the shape of the mirrors perfectly, and, in this case, again, does include the cutout for those factory turn signals. Now, at that point, the cover is infused with a resin for a little added strength, and then finished off with a high-gloss clear coat that is buffed to an absolutely perfect shine. Now, the mirrors do include a roll of automotive-grade double-sided tape that you will need to cut in place on each cover prior to the installation, which I'm about to show you through right now in our detailed walkthrough. Quick note though, guys, I do want to point out that we did install these on our 2019 GT without those mirror-mounted turn signals, just to give you an idea of how the job is done, but regardless, your install will be exactly the same at home. Check it out. Tools used for this installation include hair scissors or a cutting tool, spray bottle filled with a cleaning solution, and a microfiber towel. Now, before we get started installing our MMD carbon fiber mirror covers, it is imperative that we clean the surface first so that 3M tape has a nice, clean surface to adhere to, making sure they don't fly off on the highway. So, first things first, grab a towel, paper towel, whatever, along with a cleaning solution and get started cleaning your mirror. You could even kick things up a notch if you wanted to grab some alcohol, rubbing alcohol, and a cotton swab to really get any old wax, cleaner, dirt, whatever, off the mirror surface to ensure nice a secure bond. With our mirrors nice and clean, now we're going to take our MMD covers, bring them to a workbench, work surface, and make sure you lay down a nice microfiber or something so we don't scratch them up. At this point, we have to install the included tape. Now, it's not pre-installed for you, instead, as you can see, they give you a little roll here. So, grab the tape, grab a pair of scissors. And the idea here, what you want to do is make sure you get tape all along the edges of your mirror cover and throw a few pieces across the middle as well. That should be enough coverage for us to ensure that these don't go anywhere. All right. With our perimeter covered, now we can go ahead and just throw a few slabs in the middle there, and that should do it. Now, as you can see, we have our tape fully installed on the backside of our cover. A little tip. I kind of like to use the tip of a knife to start the backing on the 3M tape. Otherwise, if you have short fingernails, you might be there for a little while. So, I saved you guys some time. I started all the tapes. Now, we're just going to peel the backing and then get it in place. Now, we're just going to slide our mirror cover over our factory mirror and get it in place before we press down on all the tape. Once you're happy with the location, just give it some pressure. All right. Once you have everything in place, that's going to wrap up the driver side. Repeat that process on the passenger side, and your installation is complete. Never a bad idea to let these 3M jobs sit for a few hours before hitting the highway, but other than that, pretty easy day in the driveway or garage.Hey, we hope you enjoyed this review and install of the MMD carbon fiber mirror covers available for your 2015 and newer Mustang.
