      Review & Installation Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with and I’m taking a closer look at this preprinted hood scoop from MMD for all 2010 and up Mustangs. MMD continues to make some killer styling parts that are sure to make a dramatic improvement on any Mustang. This particular scoop is designed to give your factory mustang hood a subtle touch of that classic GT 350 styling. The scoop itself is constructed from ultra-durable abs plastic and can easily withstand the stresses of being mounted to the front of your ride. We here at AmericanMuscle then paint each scoop using the same base and clear coat that ford uses in their factory for a perfect pain match as you can see with our grabber blue GT behind me. Included in the package is the preprinted hood scoop itself, plastic honeycomb insert, 3M tape and hardware, your template, and the detailed instructions. Now you do have to drill 3 holes into your factory hood to properly install the scoop, I know some of you may not be big fans of drilling to your ride but it’s a nice peace of mind to know that this scoop with both the hardware and 3M tape isn’t going to come flying off no matter how fast you push your ride. Once you have your 3 holes drilled go ahead and a prep the area underneath the scoop with the supplied adhesion promoter, once you have done that install the 3M tape in all the necessary spots remove the backing, line it up, and adhere carefully. Once you are done that simply tighten the 3 bolts underneath the hood and you are done. I know it sounds a little daunting drilling into your hood but you should have total confidence as the template and the detailed instructions make it a very straightforward install that should take you no more than an hour. So if you’re looking to add a little bit more muscle to the hood of your 2010 and up mustang, and you are a fan of the classic GT 350 styling then you will definitely enjoy the looks and the convenience of this pre-painted hood scoop from MMD.

Modern Muscle Design. Complete the modern muscle car styling of your Mustang with a Modern Muscle Design Hood Scoop for aggressive good looks. This MMD Hood Scoop is not only made of durable ABS plastic for a long life, but it comes pre-painted to match your Mustangs factory color straight out of the box.

Painted Here to Match 2010-2012 Factory Mustang Colors. This Modern Muscle Design Hood Scoop is painted right here, at AmericanMuscle HQ, with the same base coat clear coat urethane paint Ford used on the exterior of your Mustang to match your factory color perfectly.

Durable Construction. Manufactured from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) material for its light-weight and superior durability, this MMD Mustang hood scoop can handle the bumps and abuse of daily driving while keeping a show-quality appearance. Honeycomb insert included.

Simple, Straight Forward Installation. No messy bondo or fiberglass is required for installation. This Pre-Painted Modern Muscle Design Hood Scoop installs with the supplied hardware, drilling locator strips, and 3M doubled sided automotive bonding tape for a quick installation.

Application. This Pre-painted MMD Hood Scoop is designed to fit the 2010-2012 Mustangs with the factory hood, including the GT and V6. Does not fit Shelby GT500 models. The hood scoop measures width: 16" Front and 17 3/4" Rear, length: 21 1/2", height: 2".

      Find Your Paint Code

      • Choose the year of your Mustang from the options above. The color choices displayed will be the only exterior paint colors available for your year Mustang. The first two letters for each color option are the paint code for your exterior color.

      • If you need to verify your paint code, look inside the door jam of your driver's side door at your VIN plate to find your exterior paint code.

This MMD Hood Scoop is also available Unpainted for those who like to do-it-yourself.

Install on Vinyl and how does it come? I have your matte black hood decal installed on my '11 mustang and I was curious if it would be possible to install this scoop on top of the vinyl without screwing it up. Also, what color does it come unpainted? I would want it to be matte black to match the hood decal.

      • Yes u can put it on the stripe but it does not Come in a matte black finish, the hood scoop Is held on by two sided tape, hope this helps

compatibility issues with 2013s? Just wanting to know if these MMD hood scoops work with the 2013 hood revamp?

      • No, the 2013s are going to have a different hood scoop than this one made for the 2010-2012 because like you mentioned, they did change the '13 hood slightly. Keep an eye out!

        MMD Hood Scoop, 10-12

Product quality is excellent. Very little prep work. This was custom fit application to an aftermarket hood on my 03 GT. Because of custom application time for install was longer and more detailed. This scoop was exactly what I was looking for.

Felt my car was missing something since adding the GT 500 spoiler and Chin Spoiler to the front end. Hood scoop was missing. So I decided on this one. I didn't like the wider lower profile scoop. I installed it about 5 inches from the rear of the back of the hood. I didn't want it flush against the rear. Be careful when tightening the nuts under the hood. The instructions state "firmly" tighten them. I figured they would "stop" so to speak. They don't, you can break the plastic the nuts are attached to which is the plastic lip inside the scoop. I think I heard one crack but stopped tightening. Hoping the other two bolts and the 3M tape hold it down. But all and all looks mean. Instructions were spot on but be careful not to follow exactly with measurements if you intend to move it down further on the hood. The instructions have it sitting near the rear. Giving 4 stars only because I wish it had more bolt areas to avoid using so much tape. Feel if you didn't need tape on the sides you'd see less seam. Paint was a spot on match even for my 2011 Black Mustang.

I recently have this at the shop being painted/ will then be installed by them along with the 4.6 decals. I just want it done by a professional. I have purchased several items for my mustang but as of yet no pictures posted. Will send photos once I figure out how to download to my computer. Very pleased with every item so far!!

Looks great but the spot it tells you to install it isn't right. you need to go a little farther down if you don't want a gap. I've had it on for about 6 months and I haven't had any problems. I've been through multiple car washes as well and it still stays on however I will be washing it myself from now on in fear of it coming off. doesn't look bad but all in all it still looks like the stick-on part that it is.

        2011 scoop install

Install due to the dimensions and contour to hood fit, takes longer than anticipated and not where it was shown in the demo pictures . Width wider on one end than the other was hard to square between the stripes. Bang for your buck was great, formidable look ,easy to prep the plastic to paint .

Looks great, but the bad template dimensions ruined my stripes.

I installed the scoop many months ago. At the time I followed the directions and mounted the scoop per the template dimensions. As others have mentioned, it was off 4" making it too close toward the windshield. I didn't know it was off because I just used the written instructions and drilled the holes in my hood. After mounting it, I stuck everything down with the tape provided. The tape held it down at the time, so I went on with life. A day or so later, I noticed that there was a gap along the side of the scoop now that the tape would no longer hold down. The tape in back was still holding and the gap wasn't really that noticeable, so again, I went on with life. Over the following months, because of washing and whatnot, the back tape finally no longer held. The front screws were holding it pretty tightly, so I thought I was fine. However, the slight movement of the scoop at driving speed was wearing into and tearing up the racing stripes on my car. :( Now it looks terrible! The finisher was this morning when I was driving at high speed and the scoop flew off the car and crashed to the concrete, basically destroying it. Result: destroyed scoop, damaged stripes, obviously have sun bleached stripes now, so a new scoop cannot be remounted in the correct position without replacing all the stripping on the car. So now my weekend show car is out of commission until I figure out what the heck to do to remedy the situation. ($$) UGH. AM, fix your instructions!

All 3 holes are not equal distance. Measure all 3 holes from side to side at least twice from behind the scoop vent. Place the vent on for pre look before the scoop. Check each adhesive strip stick for secure.

Absolutely perfect match I was very pleased how it matched up. The only draw back may be the template. I think it would be better to have a full foot print of the scoop to use as a pattern so the installer can visualize where it will sit and it would help with the hole patterns. All in all great deal!

Looks good...but the fit is not great

We purchased three items, and of the three the hood scoop was the only one that we felt did not fit the car perfectly. Installation was easy, but there are small gaps on both sides of the hood scoop that are noticeable. We were VERY careful measuring and making sure that it was in the exact location that the directions called for. The fit is OKAY at best.

        Best Looking Hood Scoop

Install was simple and took less than an hour. However, like other posts mentioned the scoop will gap on the sides if you put the center line 22 3/8 down the hood. I found it to be a perfect fit 4 more inches down 26 3/8 and still looks great. It completed that American Muscle car look I was going for with the side scoops and louvers. I recommend this scoop!

        Fit lower down the hood

The contour of the hood matched up with the scoop a little lower down the hood than the directions indicated, but I really like it better there anyway. Very cool look.

        MMD Hood Scoop - Pre-painted (10-12 GT, V6)

The scoop looks great and and fits well. It does require drilling three holes in the hood. I didn't care so I had it installed and it looks outstanding. The prepaint matched perfect and you wouldn't know it wasn't factory installed. To me it added something missing on my GTs hood.
